3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Not being from Lafayette, I guess I don't really understand the people who have grown up in the area. I was raised only 2 1/2 hours away, but the culture is very diverse which makes for a lot of different views and opinions. I've found people to be rather rude and mean out here, but then there are very genuine and caring people, too. The roads are narrow and the traffic is unlike anything I've ever experienced. I didn't become acquire my road rage until I came here for school.

Local Atmosphere: kinda wish it was closer to stores like Walmart and the mall...they're only like 10 minutes away, but not when walking

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: The local atmosphere in Lafayette is great. If there is absolutely nothing to do on campus, there is definaitely something happening off campus. Lafayette isn't a very large city, but there are plenty of places to go enough with friends like shopping and camping.

Local Atmosphere: My favorite part about Lafayette is downtown. Not because of the clubs or bars at night, but because of the little old shops and art on the buildings during the daytime. Southern hospitality is what Louisiana and other southern states are known for. Everyone here is extremely polite and kind towards others. Lafayette is also known for its festivals. I wouldn't be able to name all of them if I tried! The most popular one is called Festival Internationale. This is one that people all over the world come to, so its a pretty big deal! There are also crawfish, oyster, gumbo festivals as well as chili. We are all about food down here!
