4 College Junior

Athletics: Kentucky is finally starting to take football seriously. The basketball program will always be legendary, thanks to the boosters. Barnhart needs to improve his performance on sports that actually matter (men's basketball and football).

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Again I am a transfer student, so not sure. But heard its the best.

4 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: Basketball games are tough to get to. You have to pre-register online, show up to a lottery, and then hope that your number gets called. The girls basketball games are always free. I never personally bothered with any of the other sports but UK really values their athletes.

The truly wonderful thing about Kentucky athletics is having the opportunity to watch basketball and actually play an intramural sport, also. Kentucky basketball is infectious and will bring you to your feet and give you some great memories of your college years, even if you don't like the sport all that much. The football team doesn't exactly have a winning record, but the fans are die hard loyal and don't ever seem to care about what the actual score ends up as. Tailgating at football games is a must. Basketball may be our strong point, but our football tailgates are as good as they get and reason enough to get up and head to the football stadium. After all, school spirit isn't based on winning or losing!

Greek sports and intramurals are a great way to get involved and make some friends while staying in shape. Leagues are easy to form and join, and most schools or organizations have some sort of opportunity for sport. Be ready to wear blue constantly and have your life be dictated by Big Blue Fever. Even if you're not into sports, when you enter Wildcat Country, be prepared to be infused with school spirit!

Getting Tickets
Being a student makes it easy to get basketball tickets, but only if you're willing to spend hours in line for them. Football tickets should be bought early and it's worth it to have season tickets to all the home games.

Did You Know?
  • At hockey games when the Cool Cats score, the crowd chants, "Hey! You suck!" and a few other choice phrases at the visiting team. The UK hockey fans are notorious throughout the league for being rude, loud, and offensive. They are proud of it.
  • Ashley Judd wears a lucky UK T-shirt to every game she attends.
  • A large intra-state rivalry with the University of Louisville has led many Wildcat fans to dub it as the "University of Loserville."
  • There is not a color that offends a Wildcat fan more than Tennessee Orange.
