Scholarships: File your FAFSA, go online to apply for scholarships, and keep your grades up. That's how you get scholarships. The money for financial aid is given on a first-come-first-serve basis, so make sure to pay attention to deadlines.

Scholarships: Getting financial aid is a struggle. The school lacks communication. I know many people that have had difficulties with the process.

Scholarships: Financial aid is a hassle anywhere, but Hawaii has it's own unique challenges. If you are from out-of-state, good luck. Most of the scholarships are for HI residents who have graduated from Hawaiian high schools. There are a couple different scholarship websites, but they are not very streamlined. The people working at the fin-aid office are pretty helpful though, and you'll get the money eventually. You just have to learn to get on top of it early and feel comfortable asking for help sometimes.
