4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus. The campus security is always patrolling and there isn't a time when I do not see them making their daily rounds. Safety on campus is the least of my worries.

Health & Safety: Not a gated campus therefore outsiders who do not attend UHM can just try and make their way around. There have been quite a few reports from campus that made the news.

Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Just recently, the campus security has been increased. There are officials in cars, on bikes, and on segways. It has really made a difference and has made campus more safe.

Health & Safety: The University has made changes over the several years where they have made things safer for students, however, I feel there are other underlying issues that prevent the ultimate safety of students here at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. They have improved or fixed the broken emergency phones, and they have placed several new ones in different locations, they also advertise escort services and remind students to walk with a friend. Some areas of campus need more around the clock campus security, and campus security should respond faster to students calling them for escort services. I suggest increasing the number of escort carts or security after certain hours. Since the University is a public university, people who are not students can easily walk upon campus. There are often homeless people digging in the trash looking for cans, and a woman passing out "revolution" papers who can often be aggressive with words. These types of things shame me and can be embarrassing to visiting students.
