Majors: Major Selections for a Major Choice – UGA has a wide variety of majors to choose from. The one drawback is that you have to be accepted to a "college" within the university for your major. Some are easier than others. I am applying to the business school next spring, and hopefully will be able to get in.

Off-Campus Housing: Livin It up – When looking for somewhere to live, my number one objective was to be close to campus. This is achievable if you start early. Me and my friends wanted to have somewhere picked out for fall semester no later than Christmas break. If you do this, you can find somewhere great close to campus that is affordable. The best thing to do is find someone whos lease you can take over to make things alot easier. All landlords are about the same, they dont really care what you do as long as you dont destroy the place.

Off-Campus Dining: A Taste of Athens – There are literally endless options of places to eat around Athens. Downtown provides everything from cheap pizza/italian to coat and tie steakhouses. A favorite of many students is Cali-n-Titos, a groovy mexican joint walking distance from the dorms. Cost of these places varies and you can pretty much eat at any budget.

Campus Housing: Good to Live on Campus! Because UGA require all freshmen to live on campus, I needed to register for one. Fortunately, I got the best one (ECV) which was for upper classmen, but for others no. Thus, I believe I can compare good side and bad side of UGA housing. Living on campus is great except the fact it is expensive. Good side of UGA housing is safety and convenience. All dorms require incomers to scan the right hand and show the student ID. Also, dorms all have public or sometimes individual kitchen and living room and studetns can use these facilities anytime. Each hall there are RA (room assistance) and since they take care all stuff like social atmosphere, cleaning, and even birthday surprises it is really nice to stay on campus. However, for the bad part, the cost is high and for some buildings which are old, bugs crawling out sometimes.

Transportation: Buses! Thumbs up! In UGA, two types of public buses run. One is UGA bus and the other one is Athens Transportation. First of all, the UGA bus run by school and drivers are students! Currently there are five main lines; Orbit, East-West, Millege, Ag Hill, and North-South. Students mainly use Orbit and Ag Hill and usually there are 5 minutes gap between buses. It is really convinent to use buses in UGA and you will love it after all. For Athens Transit, it is run by Athens local government and you can use it whenever you go to off-campus area. 12 and 14 buses are famous and many people use them. You can go mall or any other area through Athens Transit! No need to worry about transportations if you intend to come UGA!

Overall Experience: I was not happy at all when I got acceptance letter from UGA. I heard about 'Never ending party school' and also I was thinking about going another college. However, after I got into UGA somehow, I noticed how it is blessing to enjoy beautiful campus (founded 1785!) and meet various people and professors who are always eager to teach and learn. Whenever I walked around the campus, I could see the natural smile on every single person's face and that completed my day. UGA is also famous for its football and it is fun to enjoy tailgate and show the school spirit by wearing red outfit. I only spent one year in UGA, but I can strongly recommend my school to anybody.

Drug Safety: Need More Caution. It is easy to meet drug sellers in the downtown in Athens. Whenever I going out with my friends or just walking down a sidewalk at night, there are always people who are following and ask "any weed?" However, the reason I gave A minus for the University of Georgia's drug safety rate is only people usually do drugs purchase weeds from seller. Rather alcohol is bigger and more serious issue for the UGA. Also it really depends on who you hang out with.

Campus Housing: Best Time of My Life – I loved living in the dorms at UGA. I lived in Mell Hall, which I highly recommend to everyone that reads this. Its a small dorm with 4 floors and no elevators which does suck, but you can control the AC and heat in your room, this is true for all the smaller dorms. its really close to north campus and the student learning center, and also right next to Bolton, a dining hall.

Off-Campus Dining: Wide Variety – There is a restaurant for every craving and price range. 5 Star Day Cafe is my favorite place to eat, great mac-n-cheese and a lot of other delicious down home style dishes. Also, for 3 dollars you can get a huge slice of pizza and a drink at Little Italy.

Health & Safety: UGA campus is a safe place to walk about at nearly any hour. The UGA health center is one of the best compared to any other college in the nation. The multitude of services they provide for the prices they require is unmatched by any college I have ever visited.

Parking: Parking a vehicle is difficult anywhere in Athens and campus is no exception. Fines and cost for permits are a bit high. Despite this UGA offers an extensive bus service both with the campus bus line and the city bus line so they accommodate those who cant afford the parking cost so I would say that the parking is acceptable.

Academics: Some Professors Don't Care. Pass or fail, they get paid. Some care, some don't

Facilities: Athletic Center (Ramsey) – This place rocks! You have to pay for it, so use it

Campus Housing: Freshman Dorms – The dorms are really not that bad.Choose Creswell.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: Honors Dorm, Quad – Live on the quad and live in the Honors dorm if you can! Also ECV is really nice if you are an upperclassman. These dorms are generally larger, nicer, and quieter - if that is what you are looking for then UGA has some great options.

Scholarships: In State – In state tuition is the way to go, and with the Hope Scholarship it is even better. There isn't a whole lot of need based aid to go around but if you have any concerns about the Hope Scholarship being difficult to deal with, you need not worry.

Transportation: City and Campus – For a small town Athens has SO MANY BUSSES. They go around campus and around town. Busses are best around campus and then getting from campus to certain apartment complexes. The further you get away from campus busses will become less frequent, but since UGA is a big campus the busses help out a lot! The system is easy to figure out and works pretty well.

Campus Housing: Dorms Are Nice and Old – the university is several hundree years old so are the housings
but for the age they are it is still tolerable to live in
they are kind of small for the price they cost but proximity to dinning and classes makes up for that - very convinient , 1st year you dont really have to have a car in college

Overall Experience: The Best School – UGA is just the best school to go
the best education ( also very hard )
the best instructors , advisors are very helpful after all there 36000 student enrolled in on average

Facilities: Unique Town – The downtown area of Athens has its own unique culture and personality that many students love

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The university does a good job with its policies. The one that is really strict is academic dishonesty, but that is necessary

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I love the restaurants downtown because there are so many different options and food choices

5 College Sophomore

Nightlife: The nightlife is what makes UGA so popular for so many people

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Better Than I Thought – The fact that we do live in Georgia means that there are many conservative Republican students here. But I was also surprised about how many different cultural and religious groups are actually at UGA

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
