Campus Dining: Healthy Choice Options – There are four different campus dining halls. Each of the dining halls offers vegetarian and healthy choice options. "The freshman 15" at the University of Georgia is unlikely due to the variety of healthy options every meal provides.

Weather: For the most part, the weather in Athens is fair and clear. A normal day on campus is very enjoyable, and walking from class to class is preferred. There are a few rainy days here and there, but they don't take away from the beauty of campus and a little rain never hurt anyone anyways. Basically, beautiful weather is more common than a bad day of weather.

Transportation: There are transportation options for every student and every need. There is a campus bus system that can transport you to every end of campus, because the campus is very large. Not only are there campus buses, though but there is a transit system specifically for the city of Athens, and many of the buses travel to off campus housing, major shopping centers, and basically everywhere around Athens you could possibly need to go. Many students also choose to bike or ride their own personal motor scooters around campus, which are also good cost-efficient options.

Local Atmosphere: Athens Is the Place to Be – There are tons of fields to play sports on and there are trails behind the intramural fields that are great for running or walking. You can always head to down town athens and eat at one of the many yummy restaurants or shop in the cute boutiques. You can get involved in a wide range of activities such as volunteering, freshley, intramural sports, clubs, etc. The night life is pretty exciting too.

Parking: Permits are pretty expensive, averaging about $350 a year. In certain areas, it can be difficult to get a good parking spot so be on campus early to allow time for parking and walking.

Campus Strictness: Underage drinking is very common in Athens, but police are always downtown looking for this behavior. Police are pretty strict about underage drinking and will take you to jail for it. Also, cops will come to apartment parties if music is too loud or if it is obnoxious. Don't be stupid.

Off-Campus Housing: The search process for off-campus housing in Athens is fairly easy. There is a lot of available housing near campus that is reasonably priced and in good areas. Most of the residents in these areas are college students and I always feel safe.

Athletics: Nothing Compares to a Saturday in Athens! Sports are one of the best things Athens has to offer! They bring our campus together in such an amazing way. There are always thousands of fans attending the events. The workout facilities are wonderful. We also use our own students to intern and learn more about their field of study. Intramural Sports are also a big thing at UGA. There are your typical sports, but if you can find enough people, you can create your own sport!

Diversity: Extremely Diverse – UGA takes pride in how diverse they are. There are many different ethnicities present at UGA. Everywhere you look, you can see different types of people mingling about. For some, it can seem too diverse. But, there are many different clubs are available to join to help people feel as though they aren't that far from home. I personally love the amount of diversity there is to offer. You can learn so much about people unlike yourself.

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments Suitable for Everyone! There are so many apartments available in Athens! The prices vary and are suitable for just about anyone. My friends and I all had different needs when it came to finding an apartment. Some had to choose based upon price and others location and security. We all found the apartment we were looking for, and we're all within about a 2 minute drive of each other. It's very easy to find an apartment that's exactly what you're looking for in Athens!

Overall Experience: Love this place! UGA is great in almost every aspect.

Weather: Very Nice. Summer is hot, but winter isn't bad compared to most places and Fall and Summer feel like heaven.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Slow after class hours, crowded during. Walk if you possibly can.

Campus Strictness: Just Be Smart. As long as you drink/do whatever it is you're doing indoors, not too loud and out of the car or street, you'll be okay. I had a cop talk to my obviously drunk friend in a parking lot at 4 AM and sent him right home with a smile.

Drug Safety: Really Easy to Get. As long as you don't use them in the dorms, you're fine. Alcohol and weed are everywhere and extremely accessible. But if you don't do those things, there isn't a lot of pressure. If you want drugs and alcohol, you're in luck. If not, you'll have fun, too, and no one'll judge you.

Greek Life: Big Part of Campus, but it's okay to be GDI – Greek Life is a great way to get involved, but I didn't rush and have so much going on anyways! If you're a girl, it's easy to get into any fraternity party and they're typically fun. The Greeks are very passionate about what they do, but there's no animosity toward people who aren't.

Nightlife: Always something to do! Thursday, Friday and Saturday especially, but every night of the week, there is something to do in Athens! Alcohol flows like water, and downtown is always packed full of students. There are dozens of good bars and a few clubs. At UGA, it's a party every night if you want it to be.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: So much spirit! Saturday in Athens is like a religious experience, everyone gets so into it and the football game is truly incredible!
Other sports don't get as much recognition, but school pride is seen in everyone.

Guys & Girls: Good-looking people. One drive down Milledge will show you how many Southern Belles and Beaus beautify the campus. Even walking to class, most of the school puts effort in their physical appearance, and it shows.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: You can definitely tell UGA is trying to get that diverse image, and they seem successful so far. There are so many cultural organizations and celebrations of diversity! I've met tons of different types of people.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Closet living, but super social! Every freshman needs to live on-campus in one of the freshman dorms. Sure, you live in a shoebox, but you'll make so many friends and have the time of your life. The bathrooms aren't too nasty, either. The biggest perk? Proximity to classroom buildings.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: From fast food to unique fair, lots of choices! Downtown boasts unique fare, while every chain restaurant in the world is about five minutes away from campus. There are lots of different options; Athens is a good place to eat!

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Much better than most schools! It's roughly $14 a day for all-you-can eat, buffet style food from UGA. That means you can have a big, country style breakfast, a burrito and nachos for lunch, ice cream for a snack, and pizza and a big plate of stir fry for dinner. Almost everything is good, and the variety is nice. Definitely get the meal plan if you live on campus.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Very Impressive! Some older classroom buildings can be a bit dingy, but the big three - MLC, Tate and Ramsey - are great! I love going to $1 movies at Tate, and studying at MLC really makes you get your work done, it's such a great resource. Ramsey is awesome, but go during off hours to get machines.

Computers: You NEED your own laptop and I would bring a printer to share with your roommate so you don't have to pay (there are always free printer specials during the summer). If you need one, I'd go to MLC or the library, but laptops are definitely easier. PAWS (the campus-wide wireless) can be slow and you have to log in each time you use it. Get a wireless router if you live in the dorm.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
