Athletics: We Bleed Red and Black – Varsity Sports at the Univesity of Georgia are a tradition here. Saturdays during Football season are like no other. The tailgating experience here is all any college student can dream of. Saturday "Between the Hedges" is one of the greatest college sporting feelings you'll ever get to experience alongside 100,000 other screaming fans!!! GOOOOOOOO DAWGS!!!!

Athletics: Sports are highly centered in the core of UGA and Athens itself. Football season is really big here and there is always a lot of excitement and school spirit displayed on campus on game days.

Transportation: From the school buses, to the Athens transit buses, from the escort service vans. An endless opportunity of transportation to choose from in Athens.

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments Are Reasonable – There are a variety of different off campus housing opportunities in Athens. The rent payments are reasonable and some establishments are nice while others are on the run-down side.

Campus Dining: Great, but I wish they had more flexibility – As a freshman, it's a must and the food is great. I decided to go for round 2 living off campus sophomore year, and I didn't really get my moneys worth because it was a pain to go to campus for 3-4 meals a day. I'd still be on it if you could do something like 10 meals a week or something that about every school does.

That said, the food is awesome. Missing those ECV smoothies and the Ohouse stir fry.

Off-Campus Housing: I just moved off campus. The safety and parking is great. The landlords are super nice as well. I am enjoying the space and the community I am in. I am very close to food places as well as shopping. A con I see right now is the catching buses. I am still working those out.

Greek Life: Greeks Are Ok With Non-Greeks – The two do not differentiate themselves from each other. Greeks and non greeks throw parties. No status thing.

Parking: Sometimes it's easy to find parking depending on the time comign in the parking lots and decks.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are plenty of off-campus housing options. Although parking at the University of Georgia is an utter mess.

Athletics: Sports are huge at UGA. There is nothing else to say.

Computers: The WiFi in the dorms and all around campus is paid-for with your student fees. They are slow and sometimes even impossible to get on the internet. The computer lab consoles also take forever to log on. There is printing at Tate that you have to pay for.

Majors: Student Teaching and Intership Abroad – Neither of my internships were paid, but I felt as though both of them were great! The first was an agriculture research internship in Greece. I received a scholarship that helped pay for my room and board, meals and airfare. This program was easy to find out more information about and was also easy to apply to. The student teaching experience (required) was just as good.

Majors: Apply! The state of Georgia is always in need of certified teachers, especially in technical areas like agriculture.

4 Recent Alumnus

Majors: More Hands on Needed, Less Education in Agriculture Education – I think that more hands on courses should be required for an Agriculture Education degree. The first day I walked in the school greenhouse, I didn't even know how to turn on the water!

Majors: Good Instructors, Limited Online Programs – I wish that more online graduate programs were offered by the University of Georgia.

Scholarships: Good Systems Can Always Be Improved – I feel that the information on Graduate school tuition is a little fuzzy. A more clear tuition schedule needs to be created. I would also like to see an exemption form or tab on the website. Graduate students who are completing their degree totally online should be exempt from certain fees.

Campus Strictness: The main strict policy that we have that i know of is the academic policy. It's basically to not cheat. There's also academic probation for students who aren't meeting the grades. As far as our social lives, the school itself doesn't seem to get involved unless a student gets arrested for something.

Local Atmosphere: Always Something to Do – At uga there's so many activities for you to get involved in. You can be a part of any club you want or be a part of an intramural team sport. You could also take recreational classes such as singing or dancing. There's also lots of nice places to eat and there's so many people you get to know while attending this college. It's been the best 4 years of my life.

Diversity: Poor Integration of LGBT Students – There is one official club on campus for LGBT students. It lacks structure and organization, as well as the funds necessary to achieve the club's primary goals. LAMBDA hopes to promote awareness and recognition of LGBT issues, but the low-budget events and lack of support creates an image other students cannot take seriously.

Campus Housing: Upperclassmen Dorms Are Really Nice – The apartment-style housing of East Campus Village are definitely something to look forward to should you choose to stay on campus. They're are a little more expensive, but have a very nice set up and very close to the gym and and my favorite dining hall on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Downtown Athens Is the Place to Be – There are nothing but restaurants and boutiques in downtown Athens. There are so many placed to eat. Taste of India is my favorite restaurant. They serve nothing but Indian food and I didn't really like Indian food at first, but it's really good. I prefer the butter chicken with Naan and a mango lussi.

Computers: The Internet Network Is Sometimes Unresponsive – The wireless networks is constantly unresponsive sometimes. It gets really frustrating having to reconnect. The price for printing is about average. It makes you limit what you print of course which is the point, but the things that do need printing won't break your back in costs.

Health & Safety: I Feel Safe – I feel safe when I roam campus after late night classes. The bus system stays running after all classes are out. Last semester, I had a class that let out around 8pm and I had no problem catching a bus. Even when I wanted to walk to my car, I felt safe.

Facilities: "This Is Not for Me" Is Not an Excuse – UGA has a student body that bonds over football and student activities. Even if you are a new student, which I was last year, you will automatically feel accepted once you show your school spirit. UGA holds a of pride in its athletics. Once you share that pride, you become apart of something that no other school can offer.

Facilities: UGA has an extreme sense of tradition amongst its students. It is felt wherever you go around campus. We have activities everyday on campus, therefore one could never be bored, especially during football season!

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
