Transportation: During the day time the buses run every 5 minutes, which is incredibly convenient for students living on and around campus. There is no worrying about being late to class or walking.

Computers: Computer Labs – The computer labs at the university of georgia are equipped with the latest softwares. They are easy to access with UGA student user ID. I spend so much time there. Their customer service is also impeccable!

Greek Life: UGA is a very Greek university, I would say a majority of the students is in a Greek organization. Greek organizations throw parties, do community service, and also have forums about any topic. The only Greek housing that is available is for the "White" Greek organizations, they have huge houses, whereas the others don't get any type of housing. The reason for this is probably because the other Greek organizations don't have as much money to get a house.

Off-Campus Dining: Downtown Athens – Downtown Athens has a lot of unique restaurants that aren't located anywhere else. For example, Transmetropolitan is a pizza place downtown where you can order a slice or an entire pizza just the way you like it, it's completely customized the way you want it. They also have other foods, such as pastas and salads, but pizza is their specialty. Most restaurants in Athens have coupons or special discounts for students, which is very convenient.

Scholarships: Apply Early – i couldn't get work study because i applied a few days late but i would advice prospective students to put in fafsa forms early

Drug Safety: Drinking Not Condoned for Underage Students – drinking is popular but not condoned for underage students with jail time imposed for students caught. but there is a lot of drinking occurring especially in frat houses and downtown Athens

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Unlimited Eating Time – the food is great compared to other colleges, there is a 24hr dining hall and students on the meal plan can go to the dining hall as much as they like

Weather: Weather is crazy at UGA but that doesn't stop anything from happening. Life always goes on.

Campus Strictness: I've lived in Athens for quite some time now. I've got to say...UGA is awesome! I cannot wait to start school there in a month.

Transportation: Bus System – The UGA bus system is awesome! Buses get pretty crowded during peak periods but there is usually and abundance of buses that go to different locations. Definitely a perk!

Campus Housing: Housing - Freshman Dorms Best for Meeting People in 1St Year – East Campus dorms are BEAUTIFUL, but those mostly go to upperclassmen. Though freshman dorms are a little rundown they are a hub for social activity among freshmen and a great place to connect, so you don't mind the less-than-perfect living situation.

Facilities: One of the best aspects about campus is the Miller Learning Center and Tate Student Center. Both of these building are contemporary, clean, and the perfect location for studying and attending class. With food and coffee options, comfy chairs, quiet rooms, group study rooms, etc., these buildings act as a one stop shop for studying, group meetings, lunch with a friend, and just about anything you could need.

Facilities: There are always so many things going on in the Tate Student Center that most times you become frustrated that you can't skip class and see them all! Georgia is a gorgeous campus, all of the buildings are brick and there are so many trees. The Student Learning Center is a great place to study and is open 24/7 and has it's own coffee bar, which is perfect for those late night study sessions. I love the Ramsey Center, which is the gym for students at UGA. It's humongous and has so many different things for you to do, rock-climbing, raquetball, basketball, weight room, cardio machines, a track, and the pool.

Local Atmosphere: Athens, GA – University of Georgia is more than just a school, it becomes a home. Athens is such a small, rural town that really depends on the school to survive, and there's no shortage of southern hospitality around here. There's so much to do during the day, with rivers and creeks to swim in and cute boutiques to shop at, to Downtown Athens for the nightlife. Atlanta's about an hour drive away, so the big city feel is never too far if you're feeling like you need some more excitement. And let's not forget Saturday in Athens, where we tee it up between the hedges at Sanford Statium. UGA is a school filled with tradition and achievement.

Campus Strictness: Watch Out for the Popo's – The main area of strictness are the police. They are extremely strict in the downtown area. Over half of my friends have either had an encounter with the police or been arrested in Athens, so its definitely scary sometimes. Its frustrating as well because sometimes the punishments are way too severe, but then sometimes kids get off that should have been arrested.
But in the school setting, I guess Ive never really had to deal with certain rules so Id say the University itself is pretty laid back, but well organized.

Greek Life: Greeks Everywhere – I talked mostly about Greek students in my last answer, so yes greek is huge here. Its a little overwhelming if you aren't involved because that is the main way for people to get to know each other around here. And if you aren't greek, some people give you the stink eye. But there are still a lot of people not in it, so its easy to find people with the same interests as you.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Dawgs and Dawgettes – The main thing I notice about the students at UGA is that that are very preppy and into the greek scene. Its hard to miss guys and girls sporting their Sorority or Fraternity letters on some type of apparel. I think the trends led from those type of people show up everywhere on campus as well. Ill notice certain things guys or girls wear and its so funny because everybody dresses the same. During the summer, girls wore tshirts, the new colorful nike tennis shoes, and nike running shorts. Guys wore the same nike shoes with high black socks, khaki shorts, and a plaid button down all the time. And now girls are wearing big tshirts/sweatshirts with scarves, black leggings, an cowboy boots. Its like a uniform! But other than the greek kids, its just usually the typical casual young adult clothing. Nothing too trendy or fancy. Accept there are a good bot of super trendy hipsters too.

College Junior

Drug Safety: Don't Know of Any – I don't know. I don't do drugs and I don't even know where to get any.

2 College Junior

Nightlife: Lots of Partying – All anyone here likes to do is party. As someone that doesn't party at all, it's uncomfortable.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: Watch Out! You'll have to stay on top of scholarships and loans all by yourself. The administration will handle the payment to your account, but the student is accountable for everything else. The past three semesters, tuition keeps going up. this semester, i had to borrow money from a family member last minute because i didnt expect tuition to be that much

4 College Senior

Weather: It doesn't get too cold here, but it stays really hot through september. it rains fairly frequently and getting caught unprepared in this town will leave you soaked.

3 College Senior

Academics: I have attended UGA for 4 years now, with one semester at another smaller college for transfer credits. The smaller college was less technologically advanced with their administration but I much preferred the attention given to each student to how I am one in a class of 300 at UGA. I have had some really great professors, but I have also had some real arrogant jerk professors, with more of the latter. The curriculum is above average material, relying on the professors discretion how well they teach the material (which I have found lackluster.) The registration process is relatively easy but I wish the advisors would be more available for advising rather than telling you which classes to take and sending you on your way. In a huge lecture class with no attendance or personal connection to others in the class, there is no incentive to pay attention or even attend.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: Though I did not apply for financial aid, any time I have had any questions about my finances, they have been very helpful

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Sholastics Vs People – The football games are fun and the other students are enjoyable. there are lots of college groups that put on shows and provide fun things to do. Unfortunatly the school work is super hard and takes away from the fun.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are lots of nice places down town, but most are a little pricy, but there are lots of less expensive places at 5 points. The trafic and parking is rough at both spots. There is a ton of variety and though there are not a ton of student discounts, many places accept bulldog bucks, which is a payment system at UGA.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
