Off-Campus Housing: I am not familiar with the off-campus housing at UGA

5 College Freshman

Campus Dining: I love all of our dining Halls. There is always a variety and they are open pretty late to accommodate late classes. They do get crowded pretty quick though. The food can get old, then just head to another dining Hall. Only bad part is that they are spread across campus, so not terrible convenient depending on where you live.

Off-Campus Housing: I haven't lived off campus but I've heard a lot about it. I hear all of them are extremely nice, safe, several amenities, close to restaurants and shopping, etc.. Only bad part is commuting back and forth takes a while on bus and there's a lot traffic when you drive. I also hear that they are pretty costly.

Majors: Although I like my advisers, buildings, opportunities a lot. The work load and curriculum is rigorous and extremely difficult. It depends very much on your major. For instance, I'm a science major and those courses have a reputation for being much harder.

Majors: I haven't had one and don't plan on getting one any time soon. Most are unpaid and my classes consume all my time. Depends alot on your major.

Nightlife: Two words, Downtown Athens! Athens has the best night life through its huge amount of bars. You can expect a tab at the average bar to run you less than 50 bucks which is the cheapest I've ever experienced.

5 College Senior

Greek Life: Greek life is pretty big at UGA but not in a bad way. During the football season some of the best of Greek life can be see by either driving down milledge avenue or east campus roads.

Off-Campus Dining: Luckily, UGA is centered in athens, ga which has several different genres of food for an array of prices that range from low price all the way up to the very expensive. You will never become food bored at UGA!

Health & Safety: The University of Georgia is very secure, its a large campus with a rural setting creating a peaceful environment. The university has taken several precautions to keep all the student and faculty members safe.

Local Atmosphere: Athens is a college town where everything is built for the college students. Downtown, one on the most popular attractions has numerous stores to go shopping and a large variety of restaurants as well. At night there are tons of bars that are fun. The campus is beautiful and there is always something going on! The gym offers a bunch of activity options and there are also a couple hundred clubs you can look at.

Academics: Being a biology major at UGA is easy and clear cut. Its a good major to choose because so many people are interested in it and many class choices are offered. Advisors are also helpful. It is however a difficult major since you have to take harder Science classes. The faculty is average but many chances of tutors and extra help are offered.

Academics: I came to UGA because there it is affiliated with a great medical school. It also has great class choices for a Biology major. Some beginner classes tend to have big classes of 200-300 students which makes it hard to ask questions and get one on one time but the professors are always open to office hours and helping outside of class. Registering is easy and studying in groups in encouraged.

Majors: I love the marketing department. I will never regret applying to be a marketing major.

Majors: To enter the business school, you have to take a standardized test and write two declarative statements as to why you want to be in one of the 10 different majors available. Depending on which major you wish to call your own will determine what grades they take into consideration during the admission process.

5 College Senior

Majors: As a marketing and sales major, I can easily get a sales job where I am getting hands on experience in the world of professional selling. Also, programs like the Sales Competition through the Terry College of Business provide great practice.

Off-Campus Dining: The restaurants in Athens are amazing. There is a wide variety to choose from. You will be lucky if you can try them all in the 4 or 5 years that you are here. Last Resort and Mama's Boy are two of my favorites.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There is not a single threat on campus. I literally leave my door unlocked everyday without having a slight worry of theft.

Guys & Girls: The girls at Georgia are extremely beautiful. It is a ten to one ratio of girls to guys;therefore, there are plenty of them. They guys are mostly friendly and helpful. I have not seen or witnessed any fights. Everyone is extremely friendly!

1 College Freshman

Greek Life: Even though the stats show that the majority of people aren't in frats or sororities, they have a strong presence on campus. Most of them are just excuses to party. Greek life is kind of looked down upon by non-Greeks because it's viewed as a way of buying your friends and are mostly made up of typical white southerners. But since both of these types of people rarely associate with each other, it's not that big of a deal.

2 College Freshman

Majors: For the most part the major opinions are good. However, they aren't very detailed and if you have a very specific major in mind than you might just have to do the general one. Also they don't have many creative opinion, such as creative writing or screenwriting.

1 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It's unfortunate that UGA makes all first year students live on campus in the dorms. You don't get to choose who your hall mates are and they can be very loud and annoying. They are usually disruptive during quiet hours and RA's don't really do anything.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: It is a lot of math! Once you pass PSYC 3980 and 3990 it lightens up. You must do research to get into grad school. The workload is intense at UGA but facilities are awesome and there are several opportunities for internships/etc.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The buses are great, and more than likely you will have a friend who drives if necessary. Also the cabs are cheap, and almost everything is within walking distance (restaurants, gas stations, etc.)

3 College Freshman

Diversity: This school is approximately 40% rich white girl. That is not an exaggeration. There just isn't a lot of non-white people here.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Pretty nice. It's certainly warmer than anything you'd get in a more Northern climate. The summers are like saunas, though.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
