Parking: Permit costs are VERY high in comparison to other schools, and the lots are not close to classes unless you live on campus. There are not enough spaces available and students are often wait listed.

4 College Junior

Majors: I had no difficulties in being accepted into the Reading Education program. I was required to pay a $75 application fee, send in my immunization records, and Identification verification. After all of those papers were sent in, I was accepted a few weeks later.

Majors: The internships opportunities here draw many students to the school

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: On campus housing is expensive; however, they do have a variety of on campus/off campus living.

4 College Junior

Majors: I'm taking online classes, and so far I haven't had any problems. The people I talk to in admissions or financial aid department seem knowledgeable, and the online interface seems navigable.

5 College Freshman

Campus Dining: At first it may seem like a lot of money to spend on food, but our Food Service is nationally acclaimed as one of, if not the top money saving school in the United States. We give you the best food at any time and as much as you want for a very low fee that equals to one large pizza every day.

5 College Freshman

Computers: It's wonderful. There are a plethora of computer labs here equipped with the latest softwares, printers, scanners, etc. The internet access is really fast and secure too!

5 College Senior

Campus Dining: The dining halls are great and in really good locations all over campus. Once you pay for the meal plan its all you can eat.

5 College Senior

Nightlife: Nightlife is jam packed in Athens. With live music and over 50 bars to choose from.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: All Freshmen live on campus. This housing is in the heart of campus. Most upper classmen move off of campus or live on the east campus.

Athletics: The University of Georgia has incredible athletics and great school spirit. Football games are a lot of fun and the entire campus turns into a tailgate.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: There are campus police and also Athens-Clarke county police readily available, but I do not see alot of them wandering on campus. There are not alot of crimes that occur on campus. The health center is unfortunately far away from the center of campus, but there is reliable transportation to get you there, and they offer great payment options. For example, you don't have to pay for your prescription when you buy it, you can bill it to your student account.

Academics: I am in Accounting major at UGA, and the business school is really great. Accounting firms heavily recruit at UGA and there is even a specific Accounting career fair

Transportation: Transportation is really great at the University of Georgia. UGA has their own line of buses that take you most anywhere on campus, and new routes are being made. Just this school a new Health Sciences bus route was created to provide students a convenient way to head to a farther part of campus. Also, in the student fees, the local Athens Transit buses are included in our transportation fees, so that means that students who pay this fee will be allowed to ride the Athens Transit buses for free. There are numerous buses that provide students reliable transportation to off campus housing and important places like Kroger, Walmart, etc. This one time fees saves students the $1.60 per ride fare that the buses usually cost. A GREAT DEAL!

4 Recent Alumnus

Facilities: We have wonderful science programs here and we have been rated #1 in partying hard as well as studying hard.

3 Recent Alumnus

Facilities: Many of them are old and the labs are not that up to date. Since UGA is so old many of the buildings are as well.

5 Recent Alumnus

Health & Safety: Gym is very sanitary provides sanitizer and always need a towel to workout, everyone has up to date shots, and the school is promoting sanitary habits.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of good quality apartment complexes that are reasonably cheap. There is usually places to park and they are not too far off campus. Sometimes there has been word of people getting robbed though.

3 College Freshman

Computers: There are multiple places to print out work and computer labs are available. Particularly for student-athletes there is a lot of availability to good quality computers and printers.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Everyone is friendly for the most part but there is a large percentage of guys and girls that are involved with Greek Life. I have no problem with that but a lot of them won't talk to you unless you are in Greek Life and they think they are better than you (this happened to me several times). Almost everyone is country (accent and music wise). Girls are really nice and into dieting and keeping fit. Guys are hot, into working out a lot and goofing around.

Parking: The parking on campus is more difficult than not for students. It is expensive to park close to campus with a parking pass, and lots are often filled with cars that don't have passes. Parking services busts everyone though.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: You'll find quite the mix of guys and girls at UGA. We have a very socially diverse group of students from many different backgrounds. Many are involved in a large social scene, great music atmosphere, as well as athletics support.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are a few places to eat off campus . Many people like going into downtown athens or five points. If you are willing to travel further out to Atlanta Highway there are also some great restaurants.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: I love living in the Upperclassmen dorms on campus. It's apartment style and I have my own bathroom inside my room. I share the apartment with just one other person but some of the apartments are for three or four people. I also love the fact that I have an 11.5 month contract for this apartment and dont have to leave for any breaks . Im an out of state student who doesnt get to go home alot so it is great knowing that I have somewhere to stay.

Parking: Parking at UGA is very expensive and very limited. We do have on campus transit with our UGA bus system but I suggest getting to that bus stop early because they fill up very quickly. I find that using my car to travel around campus takes less time but you are only able to park where you have an assigned permit.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
