5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Athens isn't just popular for its bars. It also has amazing food.

5 College Junior

Athletics: Georgia football. Must I say anything else?

5 College Junior

Campus Dining: UGA has one of the best run meal plans out there. They also use good ingredients and buy name brand foods.

5 College Junior

Guys & Girls: People dress nice and care about looking classy.

5 College Junior

Majors: My major is a very hands on major due to the nature of what is being taught.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: I bleed red and black.

5 College Junior

Campus Housing: UGA is getting nicer and nicer dorms and is renovating all the really old ones. I never had problems with dorms.

Health & Safety: The police have always been helpful and a cop let my underage friend off with a warning when she could have been arrested.

4 College Junior

Greek Life: I am not involved with greek life.

5 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Keep your head down and don't act like an idiot and you can pretty much do anything.

Nightlife: Athens, where all the other colleges come to party.

Transportation: Free UGA buses and students ride for free on Athens transit.

Off-Campus Dining: There's a TON of restaurants all around, many of which take Bulldawg Bucks, and most of them are decently priced too.

Nightlife: No cover charges, cheap drinks, but it can get crowded very easily.

Local Atmosphere: Downtown life is fun if you're into the party scene, but if not, there are still plenty of other options to have a good time and enjoy yourself.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: No, it's not perfect, but I wouldn't trade a single day here. Glory glory to ole Georgia for life.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: I don't understand why, after already being accepted to this university, I still have to apply to my major. If I don't get accepted, I will be behind by at least a year and have to change my life course.

1 College Sophomore

Majors: UGA doesn't have a whole lot of internship programs that they offer. Sometimes you can receive class credit from an internship, but that involves a lot of work on the student's part to get permission of the department for it to count as academic credit, and you have to go out and find those opportunities.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Rain sucks. Athens is hilly and its a pain to walk to class in gloomy weather, but there's not really anything that can be done about this.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Attendance in classes is contingent on each professor. As far as actual illegal activities/rule breaking, as long as you are respectful, and aren't making a scene, most of the police don't really care as long as you aren't in danger to yourself/others.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: It's college, so the use of alcohol and drugs is kind of inevitable. The downtown area of Athens is full of bars that are not strict on underage, and most of the social parties center around alcohol. To my knowledge, drugs are not as prevalent, but weed is probably the most common for any drug users.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Football. Can I get a go dawgs? Saturday in Athens cannot be beat.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: Places to study: many options, but the most conveniently located ones fill up fast for parking and group study rooms

3 College Sophomore

Parking: If you live on campus, parking is fine/close to your home. If you live off campus, you definitely need to purchase a permit, which will guarantee you a spot, but it could be anywhere on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: People seem to be tolerable with every type of race/ethnicity/all backgrounds, but they do not mix. People tend to stick to their own groups.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
