5 College Freshman

Athletics: There is no other team that I would rather cheer for than the Georgia Bulldogs. The atmosphere on campus on gamedays is unlike any other.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: The entire atmosphere is awesome. Local bands play downtown all the time, there are amazing restaurants, and the nightlife is great!

3 College Freshman

Parking: I have to park about a quarter mile from my dorm, and it is sometimes hard to find a spot that isn't in the very back of the lot. Many people also don't understand the meaning of "compact cars ONLY" and will take up 2 spots with their huge trucks, meaning there are sometimes no spots.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Classes are hard, but its well worth it. I wouldn't have chosen any other school.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: My favorite thing about on campus dining is the large variety.

College Junior

Nightlife: I do not attend bars or clubs and therefore don't have any experience.

Transportation is abundant and there is a program where someone can have a designated driver as a volunteer.

5 College Junior

Majors: As an honor student coming in as a sophomore, I was basically automatically accepted into my program. And when I went to add another major, I had no problems at all.

College Junior

Athletics: I do not follow sports.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: As far as non-alcoholic incidents those are rare and very contained.

Alcohol is a very noticeable thing to do, but a lot of times it happens downtown so the campus itself is unaffected.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: We really have no safety concerns on campus. There is ample lighting at night and highly visible walkways. In the past year I think only two instances of attempted assault were reported and both times the individual was unharmed.

College Junior

Greek Life: My friend is in a fraternity and his brothers and such are great, but his fraternity runs very differently than most. The average fraternity life consists of drinking beer and going downtown, the stereotypical stuff, while the average sorority life seems to be consumed by conformity and sex.

I don't think my opinion is very kind, so i would like to exclude it from records.

College Junior

Parking: I do not have a car so I cannot give much information. I know the campus offers a lot of parking most of the time, but come game days things just go crazy.

3 College Junior

Weather: Georgia is hot and humid, which sucks. There's not much to be done about it, though. The landscapers have done an incredible job and when the sun is shining and it's not deathly humid, the campus is breathtaking.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: I received a lot of financial aid from external scholarships. I do receive the Zell Miller Scholarship, though, which has been essential to my ability to attend. The system for determining aid and applying it is very simple and the Bursar's office, while slow, is very helpful and patient.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: I think I am biased because I was able to live in the honors building and thus had few more perks than normal (i.e. no visiting restrictions, built in study rooms, spacious downstairs). Overall, though, I think the housing is very nice and the layouts make a lot of sense.

4 College Junior

Computers: My macbook has crashed on me twice in the past year, and the assistance I have received is incredible. My external hard drive, for example, is only compatible with Macs so I have to go to campus to access one. But, my files were all saved and the staff was very nice.

College Junior

Local Atmosphere: I have had very little time top discover the city. I am more of a homebody and do not really enjoy going downtown and the likes.

4 College Junior

Facilities: The libraries are just incredible. Brilliant and nice staff with more resources than one could ever need.

The campus is very green friendly, with recycling and bike paths and walkways.

The areas the students can hang out and study are nice and cozy, and located conveniently.

4 College Junior

Facilities: I am in the honors program have been granted many opportunities. The people who work with us and the people who are involved in that program are incredible.

The dining halls are the best and the staff there, too, is extremely amiable and kind.

The times that the different facilities are open is convenient for most all schedules, and the coopeoration between the school and city is great.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Yummy, cheap, lots of options. but meal plan is really good soo

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Great variation in backgrounds, but very little in political affiliation.

Campus Dining: Not to brag, but UGA has been ranked #1 in college dining for many years. From our 5 dining halls, to the hundreds of options, to our 24 hour facility, UGA has it all. Our dining plan is all access, all you can eat, 24 hours (Monday through Friday) and open on the weekends. UGA takes kindly to special dietary needs by marking all food that is vegan, vegetarian, contains allergens, etc. you also have the options of meeting with Thea dietitian if you wish, and they will compose a list of ALL food the dining hall might EVER serve that you should avoid or that you can eat, depending on the circumstance.

Nightlife: The nightlife in Athens is fabulous for many reasons beyond the bars and clubs. If that is your scene then you'll love the many, many options Athens has right next to campus. If music is your scene, then you'll love all the joints that offer local and big name bands nightly. If your scene is theater or movies, Athens has you covered as well with options downtown. If food is your thing, and let's be honest, it's most people's thing, then you will love all the options Athens has- many rated by top TV programs or magazines for their menus and atmospheres. Regardless of what you're into, Athens has plenty of options, on and off campus, whether you're 21 or not.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
