Academics: Like any public school, there will be a good mix of easy and hard classes. However, UGA has more challenging classes than the typical state school and has a moderate workload. School is meant to challenge you and Georgia lives up to expectations.

Drug Safety: Pretty high enforcement in the dorms. Heard there was a lot of crackdown down-town on underaged drinkers. Otherwise, everyone parties where they can.

Off-Campus Dining: There are restaurants all over the place. many of them deliver. It's fantastic and tasty.

Health & Safety: There does tend to be a relatively high amount of crime ranging from break ins and theft to sexual assault. I do think the rates have gone down, though, as when I told people I was attending they insisted I never ever walk alone at night and I don't think rape rates are that high anymore.

Diversity: There's tons of diversity on campus and organizations to meet the needs of all of them. Multicultural activities are always happening and it's great to learn about new cultures here. I think for the most part people are accepting of others' views.Although there tends to be a whole lot of preaching in Tate Plaza.

Transportation: Athens Transit is free for students so that's nice and aids in off-campus living. there is a megabus that can get you to ATL but I've heard it's fairly inconvenient. Buses do not always run on time and frequently only get you close to your destination but at least there's that much and it's free.

Weather: Recent snow days show weather in GA sucks sometimes.

Campus Strictness: Dorm strictness caused me to want to move out-- RAs were very on top of students and police would frequently be in the lobby to catch underaged drinkers.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I like my major. Faculty is fairly involved. However, it is nothing like, say, a SPIA major with all sorts of advisers and opportunities at your fingertips.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Everyone freaks out over football. Baseball, basketball, and gymnastics are pretty popular too.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: It's very much a college town. There's bars and nightlife downtown but not much else to do outside of campus.

Weather: The weather is all over the place in Georgia. When it is hot walking around campus is not fun.

Greek Life: I think there's a fairly even divide between Greek/non-Greek. Some sorority girls are very clichey. It mostly just seems like a good way to get to know people. they are fairly unobtrusive.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love the University of Georgia. It is a wonderful school with a great overall atmosphere.

Scholarships: The financial aid is wonderful and the people in the financial aid office are very willing to help.

Computers: The network is usually very reliable and fast. It is important to have a computer for school work.

Off-Campus Dining: Off campus dining is excellent. There are a large variety of ethnic cuisine options.

Academics: The professors are great. They are willing to help.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: People drink but they will not pressure you to.

Off-Campus Dining: There's something for everyone, so long as you can afford to spend the money.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: The schedule is difficult to time, and sometimes that can lead to issues with attending class son time

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
