Off-Campus Housing: I've only lived on campus. Off campus will give you more for your money, but I like the convenience of living on campus.

Nightlife: It's alive and well. Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights are usually reserved for partying, but don't be surprised in people are partying other nights as well (I've personally come across people partying on a Monday night). Nearly everyone has a fake id. Usually it's a handmade fake (aka terrible), but since Athens (town) depends on middle class/rich kids spending their dad's money, it's looked over. Each bar has it's own vibe, i'll go through the ones I can think of below:

fratty: boar's head, bourben, flannigan's (idk the wannabe irish one), whiskey something, mangolia's,

dance scene: jerzee's, aftermath (probably more for african americans),

cheap: buddha bar

for old people: globe, manhatten, anything after the first two streets/ remotely far away.

transportation: if you live on campus, you'll probably end up walking unless you enjoy spending an extra $10 a night each time you party for a taxi (they are widely available however). I think there is a student sponsored club that gives drunk people rides home on friday and Saturday.

Drug Safety: I mean, for some people it's terrible that literally everyone here is an alcoholic for others it's the greatest thing ever, so the fairest rating is a 3. I'm not everyone. Personally, I wish I could meet more people who didn't feel the need to get wasted every single Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night (and occasionally other nights as well), but it's been over 2 years now. It's not going to happen. Many people here take weed regularly, and harder drugs aren't terribly hard to find if you know where to look. I feel like it's a right of passage for people to end up getting arrested for underage drinking. I'm fairly sure it's not hard to get off your record if you are white. If you aren't white, don't go out breaking the law in public. This is a southern school, racism is alive and well, just hidden underneath the (thin) surface.

Off-Campus Dining: I eat out everyday, so I try to limit myself to at most $10/meal. Anyway, there are 5 different types of options: burgers/sandwiches, fake hibachi, mexican, pizza, fried chicken. If you want to go up to around $15/meal you can add Italian (Several restaurants), one indian restaurant (horrible), and some fancier local places (east/west bristro, porterhouse grill). Perhaps because I've been eating out for at least one meal a day for over a year and half now, I'm tired of my options. I remember during freshman year I was in awe of my options.

**I really wish there was more national chains around within walking distance. I fail to see a difference in quality or taste, but the price difference is around 2-3 dollars which can add up.

Health & Safety: Health and safety are not very high on college students' priority list, and rightfully so.

Weather: It seems as though the weather in Athens is either spectacular or awful.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Downtown Athens supplies all the nightlife one can ask for.

Greek Life: Greek students are sometimes viewed as snobby and rich and sometimes that is true. Greek housing is amazing.

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing can vary according to location and cost.

Campus Strictness: Attendance policies vary by professor. Underage drinking is certainly not encouraged but also not very strictly prohibited.

Campus Housing: Campus housing varies depending on which building is being discussed. Some of the buildings are very new and modern and extremely nice. However, some of them are quite old and cramped.

Off-Campus Dining: Dining in Athens is very cool because there are just so many options. Some of the restaurants are on the pricey side, but certainly not all of them are this way.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: The athletic programs at UGA are some of the best in the country and students really enjoy experiencing the events.

Local Atmosphere: Downtown Athens is extraordinary. There is always something going on or something to do. Students are perceived as valuable members of society and local businesses often cater to and target students primarily.

Campus Dining: It depends on what you eat.

Facilities: My school has a great atmosphere, is a great place to part, but is also one of the best universities in the country in many of the schools it has. I think it is a great mix of everything college should be. I just wish it was a little less expensive.

Transportation: We have really great transportation. It is reliable and for the most part always available and on time. The only time that it is bad is after about 6 when the number of buses slow down greatly.

Scholarships: There are a lot of students applying for these scholarships because of how expensive of a school UGA is. In my opinion there are not enough scholarships for the amount of students that need them.

Nightlife: Athens is the best party city around.

Campus Dining: There are not a lot of low fat/calorie options and most everything is full fat or you do not know what is in it. There is a lot of variety but often times I cannot find anything that I like. However, we have many dining halls and there is almost always food available to students. It is extremely overpriced.

Athletics: UGA athletics are the best around. The atmosphere is amazing and all the teams are supportive and the students are supportive of the teams.

Greek Life: I have met some great students who participate in Greek life. However, I have met some that have been extremely rude and thought you were nothing if you were not in a sorority. It is very important at the school and for the most part all they really do is throw parties.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
