5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Great, very easy to find an apartment and signing the lease was the most simple ever.

Health & Safety: I feel very safe and my parents feel safe sending me here also.

Campus Housing: Great social atmosphere, pretty small rooms but extremely convenient.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: There are tons of buses that run all day and an overnight bus as well which does not run as often but there is a phone app which you can use to check the time for the buses.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: Overall, the availability of campus labs and technical items are very attainable. However, the wifi on campus is not very good at all.

5 College Sophomore

Weather: The weather in Athens is generally really nice. There aren't too many extremes, and even if there was, there are many open places on campus to escape the weather.

Greek Life: The predominantly white Greeks are the only ones with housing. The attitudes of people towards Greeks is a case by case basis. Most people seem to be indifferent. I don't think too many non Greeks focus on Greeks outside of freshman year.

Local Atmosphere: Athens has the feel of a small town, if that's what a person is attracted to.

Off-Campus Housing: There are many off campus living choices. The apartment complexes offer great deals to students. There are many places to choose from based on distance and price.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Overall, the safety on campus is pretty decent. There's always people around at any hour of the day or night, so it's easy to ask for help if you need it. However, there have been more reported break ins this year.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Be sure to check OASIS or whichever system is being used. That is the best form of information in terms of financial aid and it will answer most questions you have about it.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Going off campus to eat can vary in quality and convenience depending on where you go. Many of the places downtown have great variety with decent prices.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Downtown is one of the most attractive spots to students on campus. It's near the point that it is almost overrated in terms of who goes where and why.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Football is a big part of the University of Georgia. Game days are some of the most exciting days of the school year. Both the team members and the students come out to show the support and excitement for the school.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: The cloud computers are mediocre. You should try to find the ones that have their own towers.

Diversity: If you come from a place with absolutely no diversity, you'll find UGA like a melting pot. Otherwise, it's pretty white.

Campus Housing: They're not dungeons, and they're not palaces. The dorms are what you make them.

Transportation: The university buses are free, which is nice. Athens transit, which is free for anyone with an ID, is nice, but the routes aren't the most direct.

Off-Campus Dining: It's highly overrated. Nothing but fast food. There is a good thai place, though.

Weather: Classes are only cancelled if the roads are icy.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
