Computers: Most of the computers are new/up to date

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Not too strict, but occasionally probably too lenient towards some of the drinking culture in Athens.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Athens has a ton of incredible eating spots.

Campus Dining: Let the Big Dawg Eat

Greek Life: I don't know enough about it, but the people I know in it seem to like it, so yeah.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Expensive to park on-campus but worth it.

4 College Freshman

Computers: I use my own laptop, but plenty of available computers, good tech services

5 College Freshman

Scholarships: HOPE and Zell are absolutely one of the most important reasons I chose UGA.

4 College Freshman

Academics: It's no Ivy League school, but I don't worry too much about the job market once I get a degree. I find the workload challenging, yet manageable, never insane. College is college, you gotta work.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Athens is incredibly. Tons of things to do. Never feel bored.

4 College Freshman

Weather: Mostly great, although the heat is crazy during the first two months.

Drug Safety: Athens has a pretty big drinking culture, yet I know many people who don't drink and certainly don't feel left out. UGA is what you make it.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Getting better. Still lots of white, middle-class kids, but there seems to be a deliberate attempt to foster diversity at UGA. I've certainly met lots of different people. Not a whole lot of diversity in the Greek system though.

Transportation: Busses are good, not perfect. Lots of options to get around campus. Megabus rides to Atlanta.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Athens is a pretty safe place.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Lots of options, Athens is a very affordable place for students to live. Just do your research first.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Like the faculty a lot

Guys & Girls: Athens is a a very social place. And luckily it's big enough that you'll find your niche of people that you like, yet you can always meet new people who are different than you.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Not the nicest options for freshman, but East Campus stuff is very nice.

Off-Campus Dining: There are lots of great restaurants in Athens. Downtown Athens features lots of local spots to eat hamburgers, pizza and even fancy New Orleans cuisine. Usually the cost of these restaurants is a big higher than normal, but you are paying for the experience as well. The Last Resort is one of the most popular local spots, featuring truly delicious southern food and delicious desserts.

Athletics: UGA has one of the biggest college sport followings in the nation. UGA fans are hardcore, and this is seen on football game days. Georgia heavily recruits for football, and Saturdays in Athens make all the hard work worth it.

Local Atmosphere: There are many things to do in Athens. Shopping, exploring, dining and sports can all be enjoyed in this college town. I don't usually come across many locals because the majority of locals live outside of where the college students normally are. Safety is sometimes a concern because of the amount of homeless people in Athens.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
