Overall Experience: "If You're Good, When You Die You'll Go to Athens" – I love UGA, Athens, and everything about it. The people are fantastic, you can find literally any kind of person here that you want. All kinds of interests, passions, and personalities. The academics are pretty average-- not terribly challenging for the most part, but you do have to work for your As. Overall, I wouldn't go anywhere else in the country.

Guys & Girls: Frat Boys and Sorostitutes – Though there are a variety of men and women that attend UGA, what most frequently comes to mind are the students heavily involved with Greek life-- the frat boys and sorority girls. Both typically stay up to date on fashion trends, party and drink on most weekends (and several week days, too), and like things like golf or shopping.

Parking: Parking at UGA is not terrible, however, it can be a handful when you ride around the parking lot multiple times trying to find a good spot to park. I've seen worse parking at other campuses, so I can get along with the parking situation on campus.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life is very big at UGA. You will always see many members of greek life in each class. As a freshman coming in, you see many people getting involved in a fraternity and sorority. Usually it changes the individual, sometime for the good, and sometimes for the bad. Housing for Greek members usually come available during their sophomore year of college. For the most part, the atmosphere wouldn't be right without greek life in Athens.

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments Are Cheap! They give you a chance to live on your own and cook your own food. Compared to on campus, apartments are the better deal because they are a lot cheaper. The closer you get to campus, the more expensive prices get!

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: No Immediate Counciling – We didn't have a personal financial aid councilor though there is a financial aid office available to call with questions or concerns. We filled out the FASFA which did not come with any complications but had to apply for other scholarships and loans on our own.

Health & Safety: Relatively Safe Campus Life – I feel relatively safe living on campus housing, however, Athens is not the safest place to live. I've heard of at least five on campus attempted assaults and rapes. On campus through the day it's not dangerous but it's not safe enough to wonder around alone downtown.

Off-Campus Dining: Lots of common franchises are nearby and in walking distance for students. There are also a multitude of local eateries that offer unique dining that you can't find anywhere else.

4 College Student

Facilities: There are a plethora of student facilities on campus. The Miller Learning Center is a great place to study and prepare for classes. The Ramsey Center is the largest fitness facility in the nation and has state of the art equipment. Overall, just a great campus!!!

Local Atmosphere: Athens Is Great! The college town of Athens, Georgia is wonderful! There is so much to do, both on campus and off campus as well. Lots of local eateries and clubs to enjoy and always the chance to meet new people.

Facilities: Social Scene – UGA can be a major party school. If you're looking for nightlife and parties there is ALWAYS something going on. However, if you're looking for something a little less alcoholic to do, theres lots of options. Athens is a true college town with a lot of excellent cheap restaurants and shopping. Athens also hosts many festivals and events downtown, and in the fall when football season comes around, campus fills with tailgating fans and the entire campus becomes one big party. There is never a dull moment at UGA, we study hard and party harder.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Hot to Cold – UGA is a huge campus and students spend a lot of time walking from class to class. Athens gets extremely hot and humid from the spring through fall and gets super cold in the winter, so the weather can be a burden since students spend so much time outside.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Mostly White Campus – While there are very few issues of acceptance or racism at UGA, diversity is relatively low. UGA is composed of mostly white students.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Parking Is a Nightmare – Basically, if you don't have a parking permit and park in a parking lot or if you do and park in a parking lot besides the one you have a permit for, be prepared for a ticket. Parking is very strict and they love to hand out those pink slips.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: 1# Party School – Well, last year the University of Georgia was "awarded" the #1 party school. So you can imagine it is pretty crazy at times.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Middle School Education – I have just graduated from the middle school education program. This program has you choose two content areas to focus on throughout your study. For the most part, I feel very prepared to teach young adolescents. The program is a cohort model which makes you feel like you are a person and not just a number. You really get to know your teachers and fellow students. UGA is so large and it is nice to be with the same people for two years. At the end of the program you have over 800 hours of field of experience which is one of the best features of this program. The program is a lot of work. I basically did not have a life some semesters because my teachers would bog us down with many different assignments and we had to teach in the schools.

Transportation: There are many different route buses that go through the campus. The city buses are also free for students. They do get crowded sometimes.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: Downtown Athens is literally right next to North Campus. There are many clubs and bars to choose from and the best music and fun!

2 College Junior

Campus Housing: Freshman Dorms – They are really small and cramped and you better like your roommate a whole lot because there is no space of your own.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Food and Menus – It is true that colleges are different than high school. That is shown in the food provided in the dining halls. The dining hall food is NOTHING like the school cafeteria food you abhor. There are many different and delicious options to choose from in the dining hall. I recommend Snelling Dining Hall.

Athletics: We're D-1 for a Reason! We're a Division 1 school. SPORTS MATTER. Our slogan at University of Georgia during the football season is "It's Saturday in Athens!" On Saturday, everyone will forget about all their problems and issues to come together and boo the rival! But that's just football, once Basketball season comes, all the rest of the fans reveal themselves. But if the mainstream sports aren't enough, we have a top ranking Tennis & Softball team, along with a well credited Equestrian and Water Polo teams as well.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Let's up the Par – Well, by being a African-American student on campus, my choice of guys are... well, limiting. Don't get me wrong, there is variety, but when you're in a small crowd, everybody knows everybody and they will find out about everything. But there are thousands of guys outside the small groups, we all just have to take a leap of faith and get out there.

Health & Safety: Campus Crime and Personal Safety – I feel safe, although at night it is not too safe or smart to walk by yourself. The cops are in certain areas, but crime still goes on. Specially robbery.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: UGA is the best college in the world. We were rated the number one party school but still have strong academics.

5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: UGA has a very strong Greek community. The Greek community has a huge impact on campus as well as the community. We have very nice houses, provide thousands of dollars to philanthropies, and great social calendars.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
