Best ThingsMore . . .

  • UF has the best college sports bar according to Playboy Magazine (The Swamp Restaurant).
  • The University is called "TitleTown" for a reason. The school always competes in national championships.
  • Gainesville is one of the best college towns if you are looking for the full experience.
  • Most classes are actually small in size.

Worst ThingsMore . . .

  • If you do not win the football lottery, you must be online at the exact time tickets get released for the unclaimed sale.
  • The Student Nighttime Auxiliary Patrol (SNAP) vans take forever to pick you up to go to your desired location.
  • Do not park your car on the white lines in the parking space; you will get fined. Also, good luck finding a parking space in your designated decal area.
  • Even though there is not a speedometer on your bike, you must obey the speed limit or you will be fined.

Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.

5 College Junior

Majors: I am a Recreation, Parks, and Tourism major and I love it more than words can express. All of my professors have been incredible, and my advisor is one of the most pleasant people I have ever met. I am specializing in Event Management and I really feel like I am being prepared for my career.

Academics: The HEB major is awesome. The teachers are great. Lots of work but not to bad if you are motivated.
