Majors: I love my program. I am an architecture major and I can think of no better program at the school. It is such a small, tight-knit program, unlike many at the University, and this gives many opportunities to network with the faculty and the other members of the class. We are like a small family. I do wish, however, that there was a larger array of classes offered within the major, but independent studies and opportunities to TA in undergrad often times assuage this issue.

Scholarships: I am lucky enough to have received Bright Futures and to have a Florida Pre-Paid Plan. Generally, the University pays for everything with my scholarships and then directly deposits the remaining money into my checking account for use for books, food, housing, etc. Usually, this has run very smoothly, but last semester they almost charged me twice for tuition. I would say that you should always keep an eye on your online student finance account and that you should never be afraid to ask questions about the charges made to it.

Computers: UF has just extended their wireless connections so a student can access the internet almost anywhere on campus, including some outdoor spaces. I am an architecture student, and we often use strange programs at strange hours of the day and night. I am extremely impressed with the ArchLab. It is open to all students in the university 24 hours a day and can always be depended upon when it comes to good access and printing.

Facilities: The University of Florida has such great student life. Being a college town, the University not only engages the students and alumni with many long standing traditions and great events, like homecoming week and RUB activities, it also engages the community, bringing everyone together.

Scholarships: Since I was an out of state student with a 4.3 GPA and your typical extra curricular activities along with work experience, NHS and AP classes, I was surprised to have not received any scholarships or financial aid help. The college student debt crisis is terrible and even if you work hard and get what you need to be a stand out student you still get nothing. Very sad.

Transportation: The transportation system at UF is convenient, cost effective and reliable. I am an out of state student and I was worried I would need a car on campus. I soon realized this is not necessary because of the transportation here on campus. I do have an issue getting to and from the airports in Tampa and Orlando. Gainesville Airport is convenient but not cost effective to where I have to travel.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I interned at the Veterans Hospital Pharmacy. It was awesome. They worked around my schedule and the people were very friendly and helpful. I plan on interning again next semester.

Off-Campus Housing: The housing selection is excellent. I really had a wide range of apartment choices. The apartments were well kept and most of them included utilities and came furnished.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: The computer labs are usually crowded but you can always manage to find one or two computers that aren't being used. UF just introduced iPads available for check out too if computers are unavailable. Most people have their own computers and the WiFi is super easy to set up and works all the time. If you don't have a computer, then you should not worry cause there are ample amount of places on campus that you can use computers in.

Guys & Girls: There is a huge variety of people at uf. Basically there is someone for everyone because you got athletes, preps, rednecks, etc.

4 College Senior

Facilities: Uf is constantly trying to improve and make student life better for its students. Even though there's nothing wrong with how things are. They are just always trying to make things more efficient and easier for students.

Greek Life: I'm not personally involved with Greek life, it's not really my scene. However we have a lot of choices and involvement with Greek life. I think there's one for everyone.

Facilities: The pride of our school is amazing, walking around campus I just have so much pride. Then at sporting events it's even greater, we have a huge love for our school and its a great thing to be around.

3 College Junior

Diversity: There are many different types of races on campus it is a great variety and you can meet new people and hear about there background. You might learn something new.

College Junior

Campus Housing: I don't live on campus so I can't give a personal response but from what I have heard it is very nice and cost is pretty reasonable.

5 College Junior

Transportation: Transportation is wonderful. There is always a way to get around campus or back to your apartment or house and they even have a late bus that runs during the entire night if you needed it.

Campus Dining: There are tons of fabulous places to eat that are so yummy! UF has great options and you won't be left hungry!

Local Atmosphere: Lots of things to do. the nightlife is awesome. lots of bars, clubs and activities. something is always going on. parties, stores, musems

Guys & Girls: Lots of school pride. Very smart and good looking. They are all very hard working and focused on school . they party hard and work hard. typically ear a gator shirt

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: The University of Florida offers its students so much diversity in every way possible, from diverse people to diverse academic programs. I believe UF has a major for everyone and offers many study abroad and internship opportunities.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Most of the parties I have attended have been safe and healthy. The free transportation offered to students is also a convenient and safe system.

Health & Safety: I have always felt safe on the University of Florida's campus due to the great UFPD system. They are always around the campus at all times of day. They also have a system from which they send out automatic texts, warning students of an occurring crime on campus or around campus. Apart from the UFPD, UF also offers several free defense courses and security for the electronics a student possess.

Academics: I'm in the Art Education program, which is very small, but a very worthwhile program to be a part of. It would have been nice to have had more opportunities to interact with other majors and promote ourselves among people with related majors (since art ed is fairly interdisciplinary) but overall it is one of the best programs of this kind in the country.

Weather: UF has typical Florida weather--mild winters and extremely hot/humid summers. If you are already used to Florida weather, this is not much of a change, but if you are like me, it was a little different seeing how quickly the weather could change inland versus the relative constancy of living by the beach. Aside from the occasional rain and hurricane season weather hiccups, there aren't other weather elements that should really cause any problems.

Greek Life: Greek life is a huge part of life at UF. The percentage of students in a fraternity/sorority is much higher than average, and certain opportunities make their priority painfully obvious. Most notably, student government is largely dominated and controlled by Greek students. On the other hand, they did offer the opportunity for many parties and activities that non-Greeks (especially females) were able to participate in. Also, Greek students frequently participated in very worthwhile philanthropies that did great things for several excellent organizations.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
