3 College Freshman

Diversity: I do not have great insight into the diversity on campus, but I would say we are pretty diverse.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The university pays great attention to the safety and health of their students.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I live in beaty and the rooms are incredibly small. The kitchen is too and the amenities are very old.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The dining halls are poor quality. Pizza and cookies are the only consistently good items other times it is just a chance. Croutons is the best places on the meal plan, but it isnt open on the weekends.

2 College Freshman

Greek Life: I personally don't like greek like and think it's stupid.

3 College Junior

Parking: Parking is rough on campus, and the enforcement is not the friendliest

4 College Junior

Athletics: Athletics are a big part of campus life, whether it is Varsity, intramural, club, or just for fun

Overall Experience: Professors for the math department suck. Except for 2 or 3 TA's and 1 or 2 Professors.

Allergies are really bothersome.

You could probably have a better experience her than I did, if you get out more and focus on other stuff.

Campus Housing: Grad housing is really quiet and good for studying. There are some annoying kids that run around during the day, but quiet time at night.

Grad housing has really smart, quiet people. A lot of other races. Some really friendly, some really attractive.

Facilities: Campus gyms are crowded. Too many people love the gators way too much, and I don't want to hear about it anymore.

My department seems decrepit a little. Constant construction going on.

Some water fountains taste bad. Some have bottle fillers and taste good.

Parking: It depends on what decal you get. Get a tan decal and you will walk miles to class. Get an orange or red, and you can almost park in the classroom.

You will get ticketed for parking in the wrong place even if it isn't very clear.

Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Housing: Grad housing is good for studying. Very quiet.

If you can afford to pay ~1000$/month you can find some really nice places. For about, 700$/month you can find decent places (1 person, not talking renting out rooms).

Weather: Allergies are the worst. Hot and humid in the summer. Then days are short in the winter.

Good news about hot and humid is that students walk around with almost nothing on sometimes.

Campus Dining: Put money on your Gator1 card and you can buy fruit, and meals on campus. I don't know how late they are open.

Recent Alumnus

Campus Strictness: Again, I don't drink. Grad housing is Smoke and Alcohol free and very quite.

Recent Alumnus

Nightlife: I don't drink. Therefore, I don't know much about this. Yes, ppl get wasted and plastered and walk everywhere during game days.

3 College Freshman

Computers: Wi-fi can be spotty in dorms, but overall everything else is very solid.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I'm just a freshman still, but overall I'm beginning to like it here. There are tons of opportunities, great education, and it's so inexpensive. It can be disappointing that Greek dominates the social aspect so heavily, but you'll find you're own place in time.

Parking: Parking on-campus is really bad. If you live off-campus and have a car, you'll have to take a bus bc you won't find a spot. Also, you're guaranteed a ticket, or towed, if you park w/o a correct pass.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Gainesville has an array of fantastic, diverse food. Within two blocks you can get great Cuban, Jamaican, Korean, Greek, and pizza.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Gainesville is definitely a cool place. It has a lot of character, great food, interesting bars, and a vibrant local community.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: I mean, humans are humans. UF has 50,000 students so you'll get a lot of everything. However, it is a southern SEC school, so there is definitely a heavy preppy influence.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
