Campus Strictness: Sometimes I wish they weren't as strict as they are

5 College Junior

Nightlife: We all just want to have a good time. Academics are important too, but college wouldnt be college without all the fun memories made.

Facilities: The social scene is one of my favorite things about UF.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Our libraries and green space make my campus feel like a true home away from home

5 College Junior

Greek Life: First go Gators, then go Greek! Being in a sorority has been one of the best decisions I have made during my college career

Academics: UF is the only school in florida offering my major, in fact, I transferred here specifically for my major. I love it. My professors are all fantastic and my advisor is one of the most helpful people I have ever met.

5 College Junior

Academics: The classes are hard, but thats why UF is the best

3 College Junior

Parking: My sister and I share a car and it helps because we have more options on where to park.

5 College Junior

Diversity: I have met people from all over the nation and all over the world and I love to see my campus filled with so many different cultures and world views.

5 College Junior

Campus Housing: Some dorms are little more rough around the edges, but after all, this is college. If you really want to live someplace super nice there are tons of places off campus to live in a house or apartment.

5 College Junior

Campus Dining: there are so many choices on and around campus and they all are very considerate of the college student's budget.

Health & Safety: There is a strong presence of law enforcement at UF, we even have our own UF police department. The heath center is centrally located and is free for visits and will take health insurance for any tests that need to be done, just make sure they send the health insurance to the company that runs the tests!

4 College Junior

Transportation: The bus system is super easy and helpful, but I normally walk because I like the exercise! I chose to live very close to campus, so someone not as close might prefer to drive or scoot to class. Scooters are by far the most popular mode of transportation for students living off campus.

5 College Junior

Weather: With the exception of rain showers, Gainesville has perfect weather!

Computers: The computer labs are not packed because most students have laptops/brings it with them on campus. Printing is really easy and is inexpensive. It is in the same location of the computer labs and/or in the same room as the computer labs. Network reliability is different in certain locations. Some dorms don't have the best wireless access but almost all of the classrooms/auditoriums have great wifi.

Off-Campus Housing: I don't know much about off-campus housing selections but there are a lot of options you just have to explore a bit until you find an apartment or condo that fits your needs.

Local Atmosphere: Gainesville is mainly a college city. Many people who live here are students or alumni who raised a family here. Everyone is nice. The atmosphere is really calm unless it's game day then there's a lot of traffic and is more hectic.

Campus Strictness: UF is very strict on parking. You have to have a certain parking decal to park in a certain lot also the speed limit which also applies to bikes.

Greek Life: I'm not affiliated with Greek life but it's a great community. Everyone is nice to everyone. Non-Greeks and Greeks do hang out and get along so there's no clear division among the community.

Facilities: The Ben Hill Griffin stadium is popular amongst students who work out there and we have many athletic centers on campus. Campus events are held in the Reitz Union which is at the heart of campus. Many students go to hang out at the Plaza of the Americas which is located in front of Library West where the majority of students go to study or hold study sessions.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: UF is known for sports so the Ben Hill Griffin stadium is a huge attraction for tourists. UF also has many top programs such as pharmacy, engineering, and medical.

College Freshman

Athletics: I don't know much about athletics but it's a big deal.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Almost half of the applicants who applied to UF was accepted. Important criterias are extracurricular activities and grades from high school, basically being a well-rounded student.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
