Nightlife: Never a dull moment in Gainesville.

Athletics: Gators are known for excellent athletic department.

4 College Senior

Majors: Great field; but I'm getting a Masters in something else.

3 College Senior

Majors: They only accept 60 students into the upperdivision courses, leaving students to have to find a new major if not accepted.

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: There are many advertisements and programs to raise awareness on drug safety; however, if students want to do drugs, there's, unfortunately, not much to stop them

3 College Senior

Greek Life: I'm not a part of Greek life so I'm indifferent.

5 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: I'll be sad when I graduate because I can no longer have any food delivered to my door.

Weather: Being from South Florida, it's nice to attend a school that has seasons without the snow.

Off-Campus Housing: I would highly recommend living off campus and closer to campus. I made that mistake one year, and I felt very out of the loop. I am also in a sorority, so it really helps to be walking distance to classes and Sorority Row. I could pop by, grab lunch and dinner quickly, and keep on going to class. I recommend checking out Trimark's website. A lot of my friends live at their properties and love it. It is really clean and pretty too!

Health & Safety: It's safe, but everyone should always be aware of their surroundings.

Greek Life: Greek life is pretty big on campus, but that doesn't necessarily mean you have to join to feel included. There are always parties and stuff going on. Most sororities and fraternities have houses, and rooms are reserved mostly for upperclassmen.

Scholarships: Financial aid is something that needs to be done with time. Rushing it or doing it last minute could make it a hassle for yourself.

Diversity: UF is so diverse that anyone and everyone will feel welcome here on campus! Also there are so many organizations with such a wide array of people that no one can feel left out at the campus, ever!

4 College Freshman

Computers: WiFi is offered throughout the campus which is extremely convenient! Also with a printing lab it works great for emergencies!

5 College Freshman

Weather: It is Florida! It is mostly sunny, warm and beautiful throughout the entire state! Not just in Gainesville!

Transportation: Being an in-state student from a popular area in Florida it makes it easy finding rides to make it back home by hopping in with someone else. However I know of buses that people can take to also drop them off without the need of depending on someone for ride

Campus Housing: Living on campus as a freshman is a phenomenal experience for meeting people and becoming accommodated at the school! It can be pricey compared to being off campus but the experience is well worth its value!

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
