3 College Sophomore

Facilities: Campus is decent. Beautiful Collegiate Gothic architecture, so not very modern, but definitely has a "college feel."

Majors: I love the major that i chose. I get to learn so much and at the same time the major that i chose also offers so many ways to get hands on experience.

Majors: There are a lot of internship opportunities for everyone in my department the only downfall in my opinion is that they would require you to relocate because in order to make good money my major heals with big cities.

Off-Campus Housing: The off campus housing in my opinion is some of the worst I have experienced. there needs to be cleaner well staffed places for students to live that are financially available as well. some of the better places are way to expensive.

5 College Senior

Athletics: We have some of the best athletes in the state as well as some of the best fans. If you do not have enough talent to be on a team then there are plenty of other ways you can get involved at the University of Florida.

Diversity: I think the University of Florida could definitely have a more diverse student body. In my opinion its not only student body but staff as well.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: We have taken several measures to ensure the safety of not only me but my peers as well. We have blue light signal buttons everywhere on campus and I have seen several Police Enforcement roaming all around campus not only in cars but bikes and horses as well.

3 College Senior

Facilities: The most unique thing about the University of Florida would have to be the excellent student life that we have. No matter where you go in the city or on campus you will see a Gator somewhere. The swamp life at my school is also something that sets it apart and makes it unique.

5 College Senior

Facilities: I mentioned above that the student life is one of the best things in my opinion. We have a great athletic program and that is something that i absolutely love about the University of Florida.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: I love being a Gator. I would not trade the University of Florida for any other school but I feel like some of the things that are available to students in Gainesville should be expanded.

Local Atmosphere: I like Gainesville, the city if beautiful. It has a big city feel but the small town charm. There is not much to do if you are not into the drinking scene and i would like to see more of that.

Greek Life: to me it seems like a thing to just be popular instead I would love to see Greek life being used as a networking opportunity

Scholarships: sometimes the process is easy but if you want summer aid, it is way to hard to even get that

Academics: Teachers are mostly very aware of the actual needs of a major like advertising, and that's building a portfolio, making connections, and studying current trends and cases with such quick change. Alumni network is exactly what you need, there are more internship opportunities all the time, and several (even 24/7) computer labs with Adobe.

Academics: Never personally not been able to register. Use tutoringzone or studyedge, study in Lib West if you're facey, look up course reviews.

Local Atmosphere: Gainesville is 99% UF. Most "cultural" things are student based or run, and the shopping isn't amazing, those are the only negatives.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: There's a lot of bookish kids given the academic standards, but almost everyone is very ambitious, as well as balanced with fun, athletics, and more down-to-earth than ivies. Quality over quantity, there are more pretty faces at FSU and more Miss Americas at UF (literally.)

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: It's not a metropolis but for a country college town it's very impressive. Lots of hipsters contributed great stuff, and weirdly the best place is Reggae Shack? Idk get the ox tail. Homemade vegan ice cream at Karma Cream, fancy study time lattes at CMY (owned by part of the band sister hazel???) hungover brunch at Flying Biscuit, pizza in a van at Satchel's, anything from the top, barbecue from Pearl's... Y'all are welcome.

5 College Junior

Diversity: There are endless groups for every minority available, even the super-rude westboro demonstrationists are allowed to speak their mind in the main plaza. People may naturally flock together but I've never seen any discrimination.

5 College Junior

Athletics: One of the most athletic schools in the country. Obviously. Intramurals are easy to dabble in, facilities reflect insane athletic success. Run stadiums in the swamp at sunrise.

5 College Junior

Campus Strictness: No complaints but a lot of parking tickets, there's a big spot shortage which is annoying.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: UFAlert sends out messages in any event of crime within the whole town, student government installed light sensors, developed an app to send pings if you feel unsafe, bus billboards promote safe drinking habits, free health center staff is super nice and discreet. Cops are posted during late night library hours as well as always patrolling sorority row, SNAP is one of two free "taxi" services around campus late night, and they're responsive to complaints, extending drop-off locations, adding tracking system. There's some bad neighborhoods on the outskirts but they do what they can.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Beautiful big campus, gym, athletic facilities and enthusiasm, massive alumni base filling football and baseball games and expanding the campus. Best place in the world.

5 College Junior

Facilities: 24/7 main library with Starbucks across from the center of the bar scene (Midtown) and just a ton of tradition and things to do in general. Renovating the student center and adding some elaborate building right now, some are a little old but beautiful brick surrounded by Spanish moss. Greek life is where its at but there's clubs for everyone, and I mean everyone.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: So many places to eat down on Archer: chains, fast foods, and some quality places. Eating out is a bit pricey once you add up all the times you go out to eat.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
