Off-Campus Dining: Great range from cheap, fast food to some of the fanciest and best tasting food I've ever had. It's not hard to find a place to eat no matter what mood you are in.

Weather: Gainesville can get very hot and cold.

Majors: Some advisors can make your major really hard to get. Some don't even want to work with you on finishing your major.

Majors: No extra work needed to be done for getting into my program.

Transportation: I walk, so I'm only reporting what I've observed in campus.

Campus Housing: I've heard horrible things about the on-campus dorms. Personally, I never even had a chance to apply for a vacancy because they get filled up so quickly.

Athletics: They put a lot of focus into Athletics.

Scholarships: It's really hard to get a concrete answer because different staff will tell you different things about your aid.

Computers: I really like the UF app system that allows you to access their apps anywhere you go. The only problem is that the system is really slow and one can get unmotivated from just waiting.

Off-Campus Housing: The university has a site that shows all the near-campus apartments. This would be helpful if they would place whether the apartments had any vacancies to begin with.

College Junior

Diversity: There's very little diversity in the school. The university appears to be composed of Asian and White students.

Greek Life: I don't really know much about the Greek life. If you're not part in the Greek life, you practically isolated yourself in the university.

Drug Safety: I haven't met any students using drugs.

Health & Safety: As a transfer student, I can't say I've experience much of the university's unsafe places. It is usually very calm. It doesn't matter how late you walk home.

Academics: Some professors are very passionate about what they studied and lecture with a lot of charisma.

Nightlife: There are lots of bars and clubs for party people to go to, especially after the games. Cover is pretty decent as well. Also, don't be 18 and think you can drink at the club, because security will prevent that from happening.

Computers: There are a number of computer labs on campus were you can get work done. All computers have the latest software and we have PCs and Macs to fit students' needs.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
