3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: On campus dining is good. If only the reitz food was open later

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I love living on campus my freshman year. I really found my UF family and life-long friends.

3 College Freshman

Computers: It would be nice if the free printing carried over from semester to semester. Also being able to copy and use your free printing.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: I love attending the different sporting events, it a great thing to do with friends.

College Freshman

Nightlife: I don't go out to clubs or experience night life in this manner.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: I really like how late most of the dining options are open for and that they deliver.

5 College Freshman

Weather: I love the weather here at UF! The ability to go outside in december and be active and study outside is one trait that drew me to the gator nation.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: I have yet to see/hear about any issue(s) concerning drugs.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: My friends and I usually hit up the same places every weekend, but there are a mountain of other places to go eat/hangout.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Sometimes I wish the campus police were a little more helpful in terms of how they aided students in getting around campus at night, but other than that, they are great.

College Freshman

Guys & Girls: I'm indifferent when it comes to relationships. Some people hold hands and kiss everywhere they go and it doesn't bother me.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I live at Lakeside, which is the farthest apartment complex from campus. Though it's apartment style and has 4 beds/2 bathrooms, it's really inconvenient how far away it is from campus.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Most people say that a bike is all you need to get around, but that is definitely false. If you want to survive, you'll need a car or a very generous friend with a car. Busses can be pretty unreliable when traveling off campus.

College Freshman

Greek Life: I'm very indifferent when it comes to Greek life.

4 College Freshman

Computers: The connection goes a little slow sometimes, but mostly good connection all around campus

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Kids are inevitably going to do bad things and drink and whatnot. However, most of it happens off-campus and UFPD does a great job ensuring the safety of students from people who've had a bit too much.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: The financial aid process was somewhat difficult since I did not know much, but I do recommend talking to many Freshmen college students about how they got to where they are financially.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: There's usually always something to do. Gainesville has many area attractions and events going on. There's literally no excuse to find yourself bored.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: It's quite amazing to see how much UF wants to make sure everyone's healthy and hittin' the gym. Many of the facilities here are top-quality.

3 College Freshman

Parking: I don't really know much about the campus parking situations. However, my friend owns a car and he's a couple of run-ins with tickets and fines and boots. Make sure you learn everything about parking on campus before you move in.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The school takes very good care in making sure its students feel safe and healthy.

5 College Freshman

Computers: UF has many resources and there are thousands of computers available for students.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: I'm never usually worried about having to travel, whether it's on campus or off-campus. The buses run here regularly, day and night. Also, the UFPD provides a service called SNAP which an alternative form of transportation for students who do not want to walk at night.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: I love the campus because of how diverse it is. So far, I have not seen any group being discriminated against for being who they are.

3 College Freshman

Weather: You can always predict the weather just by going outside and looking up

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
