Scholarships: I have not yet applied for financial aid, given that FAFSA only starts in the fall and this spring is my first semester at UF.

Computers: UF uses windows, my personal favorite. They're easily accessed and have bright large screens.

Weather: The weather in Gainesville, FL has been exceptionally beautiful this current spring semester!

Scholarships: I found that I was not eligible for many of the scholarships because of my parents income. I would like to find more scholarships that are based on my accomplishments/achievements, and not my parents income.

Drug Safety: Our school has been known as the "party school" in previous years. The administration has done a great job changing the atmosphere.

Local Atmosphere: Gainesville is primarily a college town, but there are many medical facilities nearby. There are also plenty of outdoor activities to do with the nearby lake and campgrounds.

Greek Life: I can't imagine my college experience without my Greek life. Being part of a sorority is important to me because it gives me a sense of belonging. The support that I get from my sisters is amazing.

Weather: Most of the time, the weather is perfect. There isn't much anyone can do to change it, so there is no use complaining about it. After all, I live in Florida!

Campus Housing: Many of the dorms on campus are older, but they are maintained and spacious. I did not particularly like having a community bathroom and having to leave my room to use the facilities.

Health & Safety: Every open campus has its share of security issues. Fortunately, I have had no personal situation to speak of, but I am very aware of my surroundings and cautious.

Transportation: The campus shuttle is great and has many pickups throughout the campus. The drivers are friendly and get me where I need to go.

Athletics: Being a student at a school in the South Eastern Conference where your team has won the national championship in multiple sports is very exciting. The students are very supportive at all of the sports events, and the spirit is unlike anything I've ever experienced.

Campus Housing: I enjoy living in my dorm. It's convenient to be able to come to the lounge and study alongside my friends. I also feel that for a dorm room, I have a lot of space and enjoy my room.

Local Atmosphere: Because I don't have a car, I don't spend a lot of time off campus.

Campus Strictness: Whenever I go out on the weekends, I always see police officers standing outside. While some may find this to be overbearing, I find that it's comforting to know that if anything bad were to happen, there would be an officer nearby.

Off-Campus Housing: I live in the dorms because I am a freshman, however I have many friends who live off campus and they seem to love where they live because of the proximity to campus.

Greek Life: I'm part of Greek life here and I love it. It has helped to make the campus seem smaller and has not only introduced me to a great group of friends but has also provided me with the opportunity to learn about a lot of different clubs, organizations, and connections.

Computers: I have my own laptop that I use for all of my assignments so I don't typically use computer labs on campus.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
