3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: About average, but I recommend getting to know your representatives and being nice to them. They are more than willing to help.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Professors, classmates and faculty push you to be the best you can be.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: I haven;t really participated in the Nightlife as I try to be a good student and study a lot. But I haven't heard complaints.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: It's about average. Follow the rules and you will be ok.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: It rains a lot and is in the cooler part of Florida but other than it's great.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: The University of Florida is partially famous for it high quality in the area of Sports.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Pretty much your average dorms. It all depends on how clean you are and your roommates are.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: There is definitely a variety of Majors at The University of Florida however some majors have more resources than others.

4 College Sophomore

3 College Sophomore

Computers: While the technology is definitely up to date the requirements for students can be pricy and the wifi can be weak at times.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: While trying to remain safe, I naturally feel on alert when alone on campus however the presence of the Campus security is highly visible which generally makes me feel safer.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I haven;t had any encounters with Drugs or Alcohol so far and while I believe that soMe students may be partaking of those substances I definitely don't THINK that it is a popular or out in the open as it could be. Which could be a good and a bad thing.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: There is a wide range of diversity. Almost everyone I meet is completely different and unique and I like that.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: Downtown and Midtown offer lots of choices of bars. Midtown bars seem to be a lot more grimey and packed, but downtown is really nice with something or everyone. Bus transportation is pretty good, but walking or driving yourself is better, The only problem would be finding parking. Also, house parties around Gainesville neighbourhoods are really easy to get to on foot or by car, but not so much by bus.

Weather: Temperature fluctuations can get pretty bothersome, since leaving early for class is usually cold, but then it can warm up a lot as the day progresses. Certain times of the year (like Spring and early Fall) experience heavy rains. Some of these storms pass over quickly, yet some linger for the whole day. Winter is nice in my opinion, since the weather is often cooler and more consistent. In Fall, it is very common to work up a sweat when walking or biking to campus.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: Greeks are always really busy with sorority and fraternity affairs, whether it be planning parties, going to socials, or other things. The social atmosphere is not really impacted by Greek life; most people are all really nice to each other regardless of membership, but there are also many pretentious Greeks who see non-Greeks as "GDIs" or "God-Damn Independents" and have a lesser view of them. Oh well.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
