Off-Campus Dining: Some of the best food I've ever had is off campus. Burrito Brothers, La Nopalera, Blue Highway Pizzaria, Adams rib company and the sports bars have excellent food and its not overly priced at all. Well, Blue highway can get a little pricey but thats only because of their large portions.

Nightlife: I have yet to find many friends so I tend not to go out alone at night.

Campus Strictness: It seems like everyone who wants to do something that isn't allowed will get away with it. I tend not to break any rules because knowing me I will be the first one to ever get caught knowing my luck. In my opinion it seems like most of undergrad students will partake in underage drinking just because they know a person.

Transportation: The buses are nice and run fairly often. I live on campus near my classes so i don't have to take the bus hardly at all. However, the buses will take you to places off campus if you need to and they run pretty long hours.

Drug Safety: The majority is underage drinking. Which I am not against but it seems that people alienate others who do not partake. If you do not know anybody then going to a party is next to impossible from my perspective.

Local Atmosphere: The town is the college. Everything about the town is for the students and primarily BY the students.

Scholarships: The only "financial aid" i got were loans. I graduated high school with excellent grades and my SAT was above average, however I got no reward for it. My dad is the only person in the household who works and even though he makes very decent money, it is still hard to get by with just loans that I will eventually have to pay back.

Off-Campus Housing: There are apartment complexes everywhere here from all price ranges. In this town, you really do get what you pay for. However, distance from campus can be a problem especially if you don't have a car and need to rely on the bus system.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There are people from all over that go to this school! There are people of Asian, indian, hispanic, and african descent that go here. Political beliefs are quite strong here especially when there are protests out at the turlington plaza. People go there to profess their beliefs about religion and political matters that happen around the world.

Overall Experience: I left many friends to go to this school and it takes a while for me to find the right group of people to go out and do things. However, the sporting events and movies really motivate me to go out and have fun.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Everyone has health in mind out our school. There are always people outside jogging or heading to the gym. We have some of the biggest fans at our school where everyone wears Orange and Blue attire and cheers on all of our teams.

Drug Safety: My school is an excellent learning environment and is drug free. There is motivation around the school against the use of illegal drugs and alcohol coming from our peers on on our high school campus.

Greek Life: A lot of the great friends are made through greek life and they support the local community.

Off-Campus Dining: Plenty of places in midtown to go out to eat, it's always best to go during lunch specials so it's a lot cheaper to eat.

Parking: You can only get a good parking decal if you're a graduate student or live in the dorms, the parking police are pretty strict around here.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I'm a chemical engineering major, and I love everything about it so far everyone in the department shares the same struggle with you and everyone helps each other to succeed. Many companies recruit from UF so I have no concern about finding a job in my field.

Majors: I'm a transfer student but the process was very straight forward but they took a really long time to notify me that I was accepted.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Many international students, the male and female ratio is about 1:1, incredibly ethnically diverse campus and everyone is accepting of others religion and sexual orientation.

Off-Campus Housing: Huge variety of apartments to choose from depending on your life style, midtown apartments are generally more expensive but there are cheap ones. The bus service is great and always runs on time so living off campus isn't an issue.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Everyone is open and willing to initiate conversation in midtown and joining campus organizations is also a great way.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Rainy weather makes the campus feel incredibly humid and uncomfortable.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: It could be better but personally Its great

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
