4 College Freshman

Majors: I'm on the "Pre-Veterinary" track, which is basically the "Pre-Med" track. It is very difficult, but interesting as well.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Always cops and faculty on watch. Yet if you really want to go out and have a good time, you can without fear of getting in too much trouble.

5 College Freshman

Weather: Beautiful weather almost always. Never gets too cold. It rains sometimes, but that's Florida for you.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Gainesville is not a big city, it has a small town charm.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There are a lot of people here, you're bound to meet a lot of people you don't like and a lot of people you love. The greek scene is pretty big, but you don't have to join the greek life to meet people.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Again, I am not on the meal plan so I really can't provide much insight. The few times I have eaten the dining hall food though, I enjoyed it.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Some are really nice, others arent. I don't live off campus so I really dont know much.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Great education for the money and I do love it, but its very large and sometimes I feel like I am just a number rather than a name and face.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Buses are tracked via an app on my phone so i know when and where they are at all times!

4 College Junior

Facilities: This school is constantly expanding and improving. I am recommending it to anyone ready to graduate from high school or community college.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: The nightlife is wonderful and the people are amicable. Food is also top quality and plenty of variety.

3 College Junior

Transportation: If you have a bike or scooter, it is much easier to commute.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: I personally havent seen any drug abuse besides a drink here or there. The students seem pretty responsible.

3 College Junior

Parking: There are usually enough spots if you arrive to class early. But there are always some days when it is packed, but that's to be expected.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: You have to work hard at searching for additional aid and scholarships but it is worth the hassle.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: It is very antiquated and beautiful on campus. The scenery is quite relaxing.

4 College Junior

Weather: I love Florida weather. I hate the cold.

3 College Junior

Computers: Computer areas are sometimes crowded but if you have a laptop it will not be an issue.

4 College Junior

Campus Dining: There are a lot of flavorful options and the quality is fantastic. I eat there whenever I can.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: There is a lot to do off campus that will keep any student excited and content.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: It is definitely a college town that revolves around the school.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There is something for everyone.

2 College Junior

Parking: It is very hard to find a spot on campus.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
