4 College Junior

Diversity: Lots of different people who can share their experiences

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: It's Great to Be Florida Gator!

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I feel safe, and if I needed health or safety assistance I could easily get it.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: It's definitely a college town, but in the best way possible.

5 College Freshman

Nightlife: Work hard, play hard. People are definitely into the party scene here.

Campus Strictness: I haven't had any problems with anything, as long as you aren't obnoxiously doing the wrong thing no one cares.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I feel like it is no different than the process my brother and sister went through at their public universities, but financial aid processes in general are worrisome.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a ton of chains, but also some very cool eclectic, mom and pop type places if your willing to ask around and venture a bit further off campus.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is really good, there are a lot of different options as far a distance, price range, and amenities go. It takes some research to find what you are looking for, but totally worth it. I recommend Oxford Manor, it's less than a mile from campus, there are 12 bus stops at it, and the units are really nice and affordable (they are set up like town homes, but you still only pay per room).

Athletics: Everyone is really in to school pride, because tbh "it's great to be a Florida gator"

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life is pretty big, but people generally won't treat you differently is you are top-tier or a GDI.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: No one really pressures you too drink, but it is available if you want to partake. Alcohol is definitely more visible on campus than drugs.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus was great fall semester of my freshmen year, I was right across from the football stadium which was awesome. But generally it was just convenient. However, by spring semester I was getting tired of sharing a shoe box sized room.

Off-Campus Housing: At UF, you are assigned a date to pick your on-campus dorm room based on the date that you sent in your application for housing. I had a really early date, but I wanted to live in Broward or Beaty, but they were both full by my sign up date. I ended up choosing Windsor Hall because it had a bathroom inside the double room that I only shared with my roommate and because it was closer to where my classes were than most of the other dorm options. And it was less expensive than Beaty or Broward, even though I had my own bathroom.

Greek Life: I am not Greek. My friends are. They are a fun bunch of people.

Overall Experience: I love U.F. I always wanted to be a Gator. I know this family is worldwide and the education I am getting is the best.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: You won't go hungry here!

4 College Freshman

Computers: Any issues I have had were quickly resolved by campus tech support.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: It is what I expected.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: It is fairly loose in regulating student behavior.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Got into my college as a freshman.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
