Athletics: Go Gators – Our football team is the best. The school, the students, and the alumni all love gator football. Tailgating is a major event in Gainesville. In addition, other sports such as gymnastics, swimming, soccer, and baseball are well supported by students and faculty members.

Guys & Girls: At the University of Florida, you'll be able to find all sorts of guys and girls. Most students are focus on their study habits, nonetheless, they all find time to socialize and attend many social events.

Transportation: Gator Transport – Busses to everywhere - free
On-Campus parking hard to find

Off-Campus Dining: Hogtown Hungries – Loca, Low Cost, Good variety
Jimmy Johns
Burrito Brothers
Budha Belly

Greek Life: Greeks Grab Attention – Passing through campus you will notice a lot of Fraternity and Sorority-related events. They do not encompass University as a whole, but I feel that greek life receives much attention; garnering the support of charity organizations, churches, and the school itself.

Computers: The computers at school are well-equipped with the latest software. There is a full-support staff ready to assist you in case you encounter any problems. Also, the computers in the computer labs are available to local patrons, not just students. The printing is designed for efficiency: you may either swipe your student id and recharge according to how often you use it, or have the printing charges added to you student account, in which case you pay the total at the end of the semester.

Academics: Being a Health Science major is awesome, although classes and workloads can be difficult and require a lot of critical thinking. However, challenges are only presented to students to help them better prepare for their respective careers and be on top in any chosen field. UF's facilities are high tech and advanced; also a neat, clean atmosphere perfectly describes the campus, as a whole.

Parking: We sell more decals than we have spots. You can usually find a spot on campus though.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Chill Out and Hang Out – If you do not do anything illegal then you don't have anything to worry about.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: Diverse Campus – There are students of all different ethnic backgrounds at the University of Florida. We also have a great Multi-culutral Affairs department that implements lots of programs to make everyone feel welcome.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: Drinking Is Popular – A lot of people smoke in Gainesville, but almost everybody drinks. Alcohol is prevalent on game days especially.

5 College Junior

Nightlife: The Gainesville nightlife is awesome for anybody over 18. The 18+ clubs are fun, but the 21+ bars and clubs are way better. It is a very fun party school.

Local Atmosphere: Gainesville Is a Fun Little Town – Gainesville is a small town, but there is a lot to do. There is a little bit of everything in the city and there is always something to do.

Overall Experience: I think that the University of Florida is very unique. Many people want and dream of being able to enter this university and for some it is a pleasure to be here. I think our campus is very big and very diverse. I wouldn't want to go to any other school other than UF.

Campus Dining: The dining places around Gainesville are the best there is everything and it is also close in distance.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Campus Crime – The first time I heard of any campus crime was about a month ago and I have been here for two years.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Frat Parties – Most of the frat parties are the ones that are rated after some time.

5 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Well, I am originally from Miami so i am used to a way different crowd. The clubs here in Gainesville close really early. (2am) They also play like top forties at the club here, very different from Miami. But if you experience all the diiferent clubs you will find one that you will really like. Most of the clubs are also 18 and over however there are also the clubs that are only 21 and over. In the end, you have a good time and there is someone always going out here in Gainesville. The transportation is also extremelly good they stay running until late after the clubs to get the students back home.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: Athletic Centers – There are two really big gyms on campus that are kept really clean and always avialable. There are also the athelic centers for sports which there is many of those.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Live on Campus Your First Year – The way to do UF is live on campus your first year, make friends, and then move off. Go for a good dorm near the center of campus and don't worry about getting a place that "won't be good for studying." That's why there's a library.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Lots of Great CHEAP Options – Check out Leonardo's Pizza, Burrito Brothers, Steamers, Copper Monkey, Cafe Gardens for good and cheap food that you can easily get right off campus.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: Buses or Scooter – The RTS bus system is really good for on or off campus, however a scooter or motorcycle is your best option. Forget a car. Bring it up, find a spot, and try not to move it or risk loosing your spot.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Huge Variety Comes With a Huge Price – Lots of places to eat around campus, and many are extremely spread out. However options can get rather expensive, and if you're on the meal plan options are limited and extremely repetitive. Food is delicious though, in moderation. Don't get a meal plan if you plan on rushing, Greeks have chefs in house to cook lunch and dinner on the week days and its always something delicious!

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Swamp Life – Gainesville is a huge college town with a great lifestyle. The classes are tough but the social aspect is amazing. There's so much to do on any given day or night of the week, and everyones always down for a good time.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Hot and humid for the first half of the first semester, cold (surprisingly cold!) winters, and then reverts back to the heat.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
