Off-Campus Dining: Typical and Expensive – All of the restaurants are a little expensive and they are typically pizza or Italian related or asian.

Athletics: Though we have been on a decline, hopefully our new coach can put us on an upswing for winning. It's always fun to go to a game (though it is usually horrendously hot)! The Gator games are a great atmosphere and the community is terrific, unless you are another team's fan of course!

Overall Experience: Good Not Great – The University of Florida is a good school, the most of the professors and other educators (Grad. Students) are qualified to teach. The downside is that the administration here doesn't agree with the general student body, but everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Campus Housing: The dorms here are really bad. Some don't even have elevators, so you would have to climb the stairs every time. Not only that, but I have witnessed some mattresses that contain bed bugs.

Campus Dining: Gator Dining – The food there is either hit or miss. Usually when the menu sounds like it's too good to be true, it usually is. On the plus side though they serve breakfast until the afternoon on the weekend, and it's pretty hard to mess up a sandwich.

Diversity: United Nations on Campus – Upon entering the UF campus , you will probable think you're at an United Nations meeting, just without the formality. That's because UF is richin diversity. There are students from across the globe, i.e Russia, China, Korea, England, Latin America, the Carribean Islands, etc. The economic background of the students range from being below poverty level to having parents that own their own business. They're many clubs on campus that proves that students have different religious beliefs. UF is a very accepting campus and the sexual orientation of the student varies. So do their political beleifs.

Computers: Exam Times Are the Only Time You Might Not Find a Computer – During the semester, excluding the week before midterm or finals, they're plenty of computers available for your use. There's even at computer lab in the Reitz Union in which student are allowed to print 300 pages of paper per semester. I frequently use the computer lab, as I'm an English major. I have never went below my printing balance. They're plenty of libraries on campus, which are equipped with plenty of computers. The computer has high speed internet. Should you want to study during final time at any of the libraries, just bring your laptop with you. The library is noiseless during tests times, minus the silent hums of keyboards or the flipping of pages.

Health & Safety: Extremely Safe! UF's campus is totally safe. There's always police at hand to ensure that students do not get out of line. The crime rate on the UF campus is slim to none. Education is everyone's main priority so no one has time to inflict harm on anyone. I have a class that finishes at 10:20 p.m on Wednesdays. Though the class is about a 10 minute walk from the bus stop, I have never felt unsafe.

Weather: The weather is great.
Not to hot in the summer, compared to the humid sticky south florida.
The winter in just right. No snow, but you can feel some chills down your back walking to class

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments Are Close and Affordable – The off campus housing offered at University of Florida is extremly close, affordable, and pretty. It is very easy to find them, and are a wonderful alternative to the sometimes pricey on campus housing

Academics: The University of Florida offers prestigous academics and athletics.
They include a wide range of majors so any student, can follow any dream.
Their sports teams are always in the top ten, if not number one, which makes extracurricular life exciting. It is the perfect school

Local Atmosphere: Gainesville Has Something for Everyone. Gainesville is a city anyone could fall in love with. It has something for each niche of people if they know where to look. The local music scene is alive and thriving, with many students as band members. Because of the close knit city, the bars and venues are also very distinctive. Venues include places that are outdoors as well as the small "hole-in-the-wall" bars. For those who are more of the homebody persuasion, there are a wide array of locally owned restaurants throughout the city. Gainesville's restaurants are one of the things that the town is best known for. A very vegan-friendly and local atmosphere, Gainesville is great for anyone who is looking for a homey feel with an excitement at every turn.

Scholarships: The financial aid process is very helpful and useful.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: There is really no drug scene on campus, it's a matter of who a person hang out with.

Campus Housing: Living on Campus – Here at the University of Florida living on campus your first year is the best the thing. It is convenient because I can get to class in less than 15 minutes from my dorm, and it is closer to restaurants.

Facilities: So Rich in Diversity – UF is rich in diversity and offers plenty of social clubs that will help you to fit in. There's always an activity going on campus. There are academic programs and clubs that helps to enhance knowledge in different majors. For those who enjoy getting involved, there is always a social event that will make you feel proud that you're a Gator. There are scholarships that the university offers to students that meets the requirement.

Overall Experience: I'm enjoying being a student at rhe University of Florida. One of my favorite experiences is listening to a speaker speak about dating and how should young people go about doing so. What makes UF unique is the wide array of diversity that is visible upon visiting campus. Despite the fact that I'm enjoying the academics, I didn't make it my priority to make friends. If I could chose what school I go to all over again, I would choose a school close to home.

Greek Life: Greek life does exis at the University of Florida. From my observation, I figure that the purpose they serve is to throw parties and facilitate step shows. Students like myself are indifferent to Greek life. The Greeks bring excietement to The Set (the area on campus where organizations/club gather) almost every afternoon. Some non-Greek students see Greek students as "cool" and admire them. In a way, they are like the popular kids on campus. There's are areas specifically for Greeks: Soriority Row and Fraternity Row.

Parking: They sell more parking passes than they have available spots.

Off-Campus Dining: So Close to Campus... They Are on Campus! I guess if one would grow tired of the restaurants on campus they could easily go off campus to a slue of restaurants located conveniently next door. For example, Pita pit, Chipotle, Fire house subs and many more.

Campus Dining: Great Deal of Variety...Ideal for Meat Lovers, and Vegetarians – The dining options on campus are amazing. There are great food places to choose from. If you're feeling like a carnivore... perhaps indulging in a slice of the "Meats" pizza from Papa Johns or if you are feeling a little green and are looking for a healthy meal choice perhaps going to Subway. The restaurants on campus are so versatile and would ease anyone's hunger pains.

Transportation: The bus system at the University of Florida, RTS, is amazing! Nearly every route runs every 5-15 minutes and there are bus stops everywhere. You can put your bike on the front of the buses as well. There is also a website where you can few all of the buses on each route and get an approximate time of arrival at your stop. UF also has a transportation system called SNAP where you call a number and a SNAP van will pick you up and drop you off anywhere on campus from 6:30pm-3am.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: I have never had to deal with the UFPD but they are very strict when it comes to speeding. The speed limit campus-wide is 20 mph. The rules on bicycles are ridiculous. If you drive after sunset without lights you will receive a $55 ticket for missing a front light and another $55 for missing your back light. Also, you can't ride your bike with ear buds in or you will be ticketed. On the other hand, I've never seen or even heard of anyone being busted for drinking on campus, even at some huge fraternity parties.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: I haven't noticed too much variety at UF. It isn't very often that you see someone wearing something completely different. Nearly 20 percent of the students are active in Greek Life and a large percent of the people you meet are engineers. There is always something fun to do on or around campus and the campus is beautiful.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: Everything Possible – The nightlife can range from a club to small coffee shop. There is everything possible to do especially with midtown and downtown.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
