3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Process Alright – I received good amount of financial aid but not really from my school. My school doesn't really help a lot or maybe I haven't done the process right but they could have helped more.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The dining halls are okay. They seem great at first but they end up getting repetitive and by the end of the year you don't seem to find anything that seems good enough to eat. The places around campus are alright but not a whole wide variety.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: Computer Labs – The computer labs at University of Florida almost always have available computers. I have always been able to find a spot because most people take their own. There are a few available for people who don't own computers and the WiFi is really good.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: There Is Something for Everyone – Whether you are into sports, academics, religious activities, the arts, whatever, there is something for you at Florida. There is a club for almost everything or a group that can connect you with a local group that can get you involved within the community.

2 College Sophomore

Weather: Bring Rain Boots and an Umbrella – It's Florida. It rains, it's hot, it's humid, it's unpredictable. Be smart, pack an umbrella.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Lots of Options – There are many choices of off campus housing in Gainesville. From houses, condos, and apartments to luxury dorms - there is not shortage of choices. Prices also vary from inexpensive older apartments to expensive newer apartments that are way over-the-top.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: Socially Good – Socially great, academically good, class sizes too large

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Fan Support – All football games are sold out, and most seats are taken during the game. Due to the brutal weather, sometimes people leave games early to avoid the stifling heat. Basketball games are lots of fun for the student section. It's always full, and sometimes you have to show up 3 to 4 hours early to get a spot in the lower level. The facilities are great, and the school offers all sorts of intramural sports.

2 College Sophomore

Academics: Some of the professors are great, others are truly terrible. At the University of Florida, they are hired based on the research grants that they bring the university, and are then thrown into the classroom to teach undergraduates. Sometimes they are great, other times they are truly awful.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: All of the libraries are great, particularly the law library which is where I go if I really need to get work done. Library West tends to be the more social library where you can hang out with friends and socialize while getting your work done. Most libraries have good hours and are open late, however, I would like to see at least one of the libraries open 24 hours throughout the school year.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: UF buses run to downtown and off campus apartments.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Some Girls Are Attractive, While the Rest Are Gross – You'll find a lot of attractive women, but most of these women are in sororities. However, don't let their good looks fool you. A lot of these women tend to only talk to men of high status

2 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Generally Accepting for Students – As long as most people are smart about their social life, the officials do not interfere.

3 College Junior

Nightlife: Weekends Are Busy – Come Friday night, there are people everywhere. Downtown and Midtown are full of people drinking and having a good time. Midtown has the bars and downtown has the clubs.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Great Football Atmosphere – Come gamedays, there is no better campus to be at than Florida's. Great times and memories are made each weekend, whether it is an away or home game. Tail-gaiting is the best experience.

Off-Campus Dining: Terrible. After one semester or maybe one year you just lose interest...

Health & Safety: I know some of the "security" guards on our campus...the idea that they would keep students safe is laughable.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: There are definitely all kinds of people on our campus.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I personally love the off campus dining. There are tons of choices. It's very convenient because there are a ton right on the edge of campus. However, not many place offer student discounts.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: There are a plethora of computer labs on campus with printing stations in each. The network reliability, speed, and wireless access is great in the places I have been. However, a personal computer is a necessity for class.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: NO COMPLAINTS – I feel that they gave me all the money I need to attend school. I didn't have to take any loans during my first year there which is always a plus. I feel that my financial aid advisors were very helpful and always there whenever I or my parents had questions.

Guys & Girls: Life Is Good in the Ville – I would say that a lot of UF students are in really good shape and take advantage of the gym. Most of the dudes are good-looking and a lot of the girls are hot.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: A lot of my friends rave about off-campus life in Gainesville. I like staying on-campus because of my financial aid package, but I have looked into prices in apartments and other facilities and they are competitively priced and nicely furnished.

5 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Should Still Be #1 Party School in the Nation. Fraternity row offers most of what the underage partier wants. Hot guys and free alcohol. And if you get bored of that there's always midtown right across the street with things to do and plenty of people right there ready to party. It really doesn't get much better than that. Whether you're pre-gaming, pre-pre-gaming, or just wanting to party any day of the week, there's always something to do.

5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: The Best – Greek life is amazing at UF. We dominate the scene. If you are not in the Greek life it is quite difficult to find parties or good tailgates.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
