Campus Strictness: Just Don't Be Stupid – My college is meant to help students build a future, not ruin it. If you are a screw up and do stupid things then you will feel consequences. By no means does the strictness prevent haveing a good time.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: Unique School – One thing that I think sticks out is Krishna Lunch. It is where Hare Krishnas come to the library lawn on the weekdays and serve vegan lunch at a low price. I have yet to have it, but I hear it is delicious.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Awesome Experience – I have been at UF for only a year so far, and it has been the greatest year of my life. I already know I will be telling my kids some (but not all) of my stories of school.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: Melting Pot – I feel that there is a wide array of different nationalities on campus. I am pretty sure every country is represented on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: Modern and Well Kept – There is something for everyone on this campus, it just depends on the student going out and getting it. All the facilities are well kept and clean with technology that help makes living and working easy. However we could improve our wireless network which can be inconsistent at times.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Just Settling in – I have just recently switched to my major last semester so I am still getting used to its requirements. Thus far the classes have been challenging but manageable with good work ethic. I have not been to office hours yet, but the professors continue to mention their availability. Research opportunities are present, it all counts down on the student and whether are not they are wiling to work.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Its Hot – in the spring and summer semesters, it gets extremely hot. especially since you usually walk everywhere. having a car or scooter makes things easier

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Greek Life – As a whole, girls who are in a sorority tend to be more open to having fun. They are also incredibly hot, for the most part. The guys in greek life are a lot of fun too, throwing parties and doing philanthropies and such.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Broward Is the Most Central Dorm – Upcoming freshmen usually pick Broward or Jennings hall to live in their first year. My recommendation would be to live in Broward the first year until you get a feel for the campus because its the closest dorm to everything.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Buses are really good for all the students. Since we get to ride the buss free because of our student ID's, it makes things a lot easier. Only problem is that you may be late to class if the buses fill up too much.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: It is crazy in Gainesville. It seems to be very busy everyday of the week. Doesn't matter where you are in Gainesville, something is always happening.

Overall Experience: Big Campus Lifestyle – Uf is for those who are looking for a big campus with lots to do. Some might find it overwhelming but if you're up for the size, the variety it has to offer is great!

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: but i've heard it gets pretty old after a semester. flex bucks seems like the way to go after that.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Well Rounded Options – UF has options for all kinds of classes. There are interesting elective courses that you can take as something different from your major.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Easy Process – I only applied for bright futures scholarship and therefore only had one thing to keep track of. If I had a question about it I could go to the financial aid office and someone would answer my question.

2 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drinking Over Drugs – Smoking seems to be the most common drug habit at the University of Florida. There are a few people who go beyond that but for the most part they are few and far between. Drinking, however, is much more common.

2 College Sophomore

Diversity: Racial diversity is very broad on campus however most students come from a background of good economic standing. There are a few students who manage to pay tuition with scholarships but the majority come from a wealthy family.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: parking is hard unless you have the red 1 or highest decal.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: midtown is alot of fun. the school events, mainly sports, are tons of fun

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Off campus dining is great. There are many great options. I usually however eat at my sorority house.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Much Support for Sports – Sports at this campus are supported by fans from many places. Football season will bring fans to tail-gate hours before the game. Basketball season will draw many students with free prizes. Athletes are treated and fed well.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments Pros/Cons – Near and far from the campus are many apartment complexes. The closer one gets the more expensive the rent is. Be wary of some complexes, the staff may be very unprofessional and may trick you into signing a lease. Always ask about the fees that may occur.

5 College Sophomore

Computers: The computers at this campus are very well maintained and fast. The wireless Internet is superb and network reliability is excellent. The printing lab is conveniently located and never seems to have a shortage of printer paper.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Football Games – Football season is amazing at UF. The whole campus comes together to cheer for the Gators and being in a stadium full of fans is a great feeling.

5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life is a great way for students to get involved on and off campus and to meet many new people. There are mixed opinions about greek life stating that greeks only party, but in reality, it is like a club that helps you get more involved than you ever thought possible.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
