Health & Safety: The student clinic on campus provides decent healthcare and is convenient. There are emergency call buttons placed all throughout campus to improve safety.

Local Atmosphere: It's the epitome of a college town as most activities in the city are centered around campus or are somehow related to the university.

Greek Life: Greek life is a very large part of campus life as many organizations are associated with Greek organizations.

Campus Strictness: The parking officers are extremely strict about parking on campus. They will look for any opportunity to give you a ticket. I have received a ticket because my one of wheels was partially on the line of a parking space.

Academics: While the academics may not be ranked in the top nationally the difficulty of the classes is on par with universities of a higher prestige.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The financial aid process is somewhat difficult to go through. The website they have to show what you have recieved is not very clear.

Computers: The UF wifi can be a pain but the labs are really good especially since you can print up to 250 pages for free.

Campus Dining: I like the meal plan mostly because of the convenience. Flex bucks is basically a debit account. Home Zone is by far the best place to eat on campus.

Academics: Some professors are awesome and some just suck. Be best friends with your TA because they can help a lot in determining your grade. There are many tutoring places to go to on and near campus. Registration can sometimes be a hassle especially if everyone is trying to register at the same time.

Majors: I'm a chemical engineering major and it is a very challenging program. CHM 2045 is very difficult and requires a lot of practice and time to get a good grade. I want to get a Bachelor's in chemical engineering and a PhD in Biomedical because I plan on working with prosthetics. My field is very new and expanding so I am not worried about finding a job.

Majors: As long as you take the required classes and get the grades anyone can enter.

Scholarships: Just complete FASFA as quickly as possible to get the aid you need as soon as you need it. Then apply for the loans you want and it should be straightforward from there.

Weather: You have to love Florida weather. Shorts are an almost year-round staple. Summer can get pretty brutally hot, but then again, that's the price you pay for not having to shovel snow in the winter months!

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
