Nightlife: Plenty of Options – There are several clubs which are pretty much packed with students downtown. The school is also right across the street from midtown which is just a street full of bars. So there is plenty to do. There are also plenty of bus services to accommodate students and encourage them to not drive.

Overall Experience: Great Environment – I love the University of Florida, not only do you get the top education here but Gainesville is also a fun place to live in. There is plenty to do here, so much that many consider living there after graduation.

Overall Experience: Not Too Shabby – It is a nice area to live in and you can meet some really cool people. The nightlife isn't as great as places like Orlando or Tampa, but it is all what you make of it. However, the advisors do not want to help you whatsoever. They are there to get paid and it shows.

Greek Life: All Over the Place – Everywhere you go you cannot escape the constant reminder that greek life exists on campus. They try and dominate the student government. They are also very cliquey. It's like high school drama all over again.

Parking: Finding parking at UF is difficult. If you buy a parking pass it gets easier but you will only be able to park in the lots marked the same color as your pass. This isn't always convenient because the color lot you buy a pass for isn't always near your classes. While there is meter parking around campus it is next to impossible get during peak hours. Parking tickets are given out like candy, there seems to be no end to the police officers that give tickets. If you get too many tickets in a term you can loose your permit as well.

Greek Life: Very Popular – I wasn't a member of a Panhellenic sorority but I was in an executive position in Student Government so I had frequent dealings with them. I found most of the fraternities and sororities at UF to be quite friendly and welcoming. People not involved in Greek life tended to have a negative view of it and while there were of course bad eggs, I would say on the whole, they had a positive impact on the campus. Greek life dominated the social scene as well as Student Government.

Drug Safety: Drinking Beats Out Drugs – The main drug throughout Gainesville tends to be pot. While harder drugs ca be found most people seem to frown on the use of them. Pot is very normal and most people aren't concerned if they go somewhere and find someone smoking. Drinking is much more popular and enjoyed.

Facilities: Almost Perfect – The upkeep and maintance of the facilities is surprisingly good at UF, despite the age of the school. There are always prompt and periodic repairs or renovations going on, and the maintance team is very active and can even be called in my students, in terms of campus housing. For the most part, the buildings have very good layout, are always clean, and functional according to the purpose they serve. High tech, up to date, and visually pleasing!

Guys & Girls: Students Are Varied – At UF, you'll find a pretty broad rang of kids, from extremely smart to "how-am-I-going-to-the-same-school-as-this-person?" status. Same goes for looks, although I would say that the boys and girls generally look pretty good. In terms of interests, though, there isn't all that much diversity: I would say about 70% or more are members of fraternities/sororities, and heavily party. On top of that, relationships are not as common as hook-ups, and study habits are rather last-minute tutoring service oriented. A lot of school spirit, though, from those always in the library to the ones in the football stadiums.

Parking: Parking is really difficult for students living on-campus. Even off-campus students are troubled by the decal rules, times and signs. You need to be careful if you bring a car and be wary of where you park. Tow trucks are a Gators worst enemy.

Guys & Girls: All Around Attractive – I'd say for the most part, UF students are attractive. We like staying fit and working out; of course, there will always be those who don't care much about appearance, but I think overall UF is a very pretty school!

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: It's There If You Look – UF doesn't really go out of its way to tell you about scholarships. If you really want to get one, you have to look but I'm sure they're out there.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: Very Easy – Signs at each bus stop make it easy to know where you're going and which buses can take you there. I've never had a problem getting around (which is good in such a big school as UF!)

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: Great Experience – I really liked going to UF. Everyone has a sense of pride for the Gators and studying there was really worth it. The programs I was involved in were well-known and have helped me in figuring out what I want to pursue as far as a career goes.

Weather: It's located in south Florida so it' s almost always hot and muggy, but the up side is that it is the sunshine state.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: At Ease – I've never felt threatened or scared while on Florida's campus. The Campus police do a fine job a patrolling the large campus and making sure we are all safe.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Strictness: Food Options – The Reitz Union offers some options such as Pollo Tropical, Panda Express, Subway, Burger King. There is also a organic/health food store called the Pod market that offers vegetarian and vegan food.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Tons of Involvement – dance marathon, gator grow, student government productions, so many involvement opportunities

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: It Is Amazing! University of Florida has so many wonderful opportunities and any student will succeed after graduating from here.

4 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Campus Definitely Cracks Down – Everything is taken seriously, especially if you get caught. There is even a court set up and lawyers available for instances like these. If caught, punishments are severe

4 College Senior

Greek Life: Greek Students Seem to Take Over Campus – There are a number of Greeks all over campus, which is obvious by all the tabling done, and the number of people walking around with Greek symbols on their shirts

5 College Senior

Athletics: Our teams are extremely competitive. Especially baseball, basketball and lacrosse. And obviously football until Tebow left

Transportation: The buses are really good here they are free for students as long as you have your ID. I live off campus so I take the bus everyday, it is very convenient, they do are really good job running on time. They run every fifteen minutes so as long as you know how to time yourself you should not run into any troubles.

Overall Experience: My Dream School – The University of Florida is my perfect school. Very environmentally friendly, a great view when walking to class. Classes are hard but that just shows that they want you to strive. It is so well diversified no one will have trouble making friends and enjoying themselves. So many clubs and societies to join, its amazing.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life is a time zapper from studies and getting otherwise involved. When you add in cost and the average fraterniy, but more upscale sorority housing, you get a grade of B-. The networking benefits are not worth the downside of lower grades that are the inevitable result for most.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
