Overall Experience: GATOR CHOMPPP – UF is the greatest university ever! The weather, the people, the teachers, the vast variety of classes, the list goes on & on.

4 College Freshman

Weather: It's Florida, so of course it's going to be hot! It doesn't affect your classes though.

Health & Safety: UF offers a service called SNAP. Instead of walking alone back to your dorm or to the library or anywhere on campus, you can call the SNAP van to come and get you wherever you are and take you anywhere you would like to go on campus. It's great for security since it runs till about 3:00am.

Drug Safety: People Like to Party – UF is a party school, there is always something going on each and every night. However, most students are very motivated and do not fall into any problems such as hard core drugs or drinking problems.

Academics: Business Is Best – Being a business major is wonderful because all the classes are availble online if you cannot make it to class. This has given me the opportunity to be able to work and pay for my schooling without losing time or having to take out loans. Also, tutoring tools such as smokin notes, Tutoring Zone and Study Edge (private tutoring) are availble for almost all business classes. Study abroad opportunites are easier for business majors as well.

Academics: Hit or Miss – Most professors I have had are very involved and interested in the students. All of them are brilliant, but some you can tell are more involved and concerned with their research. I always just use ratemyprofessor.com or ask friends for reccommendations and am able to get the better ones.

Athletics: Our football games are the highlight of the fall. On game days, all of Gainesville is covered in blue and orange and they are the best days of the year. If you don't play at the varsity level, we also have great competive and non-competitive intramural and club teams for bascially every sport one can play.

3 College Junior

Weather: Florida summers are hot and UF is a big campus. There's a lot of walking/bike-riding in the hot sun. However, the winters are nice and cool but not too cold.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: Never Seen Drugs on Campus – I don't hang out at parties or bars... probably the wrong person to ask. I've never seen drugs on campus. I've overheard exactly one conversation about marijuana. The only drug I ever hear about regularly is Adderall around finals time.

Academics: I Love My Major! I'm a geology major. We get to be outside all the time and I love my classmates.

4 College Junior

Weather: So unbelievably hot in the summer, not too bad in the winter. In warmer months, you can expect afternoon showers pretty regularly (although not as much in recent years), but it always clears up. Lots and lots o' sun!

Sometimes the forest fires around Gville bring in some nasty smoke and fog, and the occasional hurricane... but lovely usually.

Off-Campus Dining: We Have Everything – Chains, local joints, Mexican, pizza, vegan, etc... We have practically anything you could want.

Health & Safety: Okay. Campus Cops Are Kinda Annoying Though. If campus cops would stop harassing bikers and skateboarders and focus more on their real jobs, I think this grade could be improved.

Campus Housing: Rawlings Dorm – Dorms are super fun, but the experience can be very dependent on your roommate. Dorms are not upheld as much, and it can be very noisy on weekends. Most of the co-ed dorms are much more social.

4 College Senior

Diversity: The school is overall, very accepting towards minorities. It has a very strong liberal flavor, but there are alot of international students (Indian, Saudi Arabian, Israeli especially) There is certainly support for the LGBT community.

Off-Campus Housing: Oxford Manor – It was inexpensive during my time, had a good printing lab, attentive maintenance, but the walls were thin. Lots of bus routes, though! Washer and drier in most units was awesome!

5 College Junior

Weather: It's Florida it makes the experience that much better.

3 College Junior

Parking: The cost to get a permit for your car is a bit expensive and you can only park in certain spaces during the week on campus, depending on what permit you buy. The permit you purchase depends on how many credit hours you have. However, on the weekend you can park wherever you want. Parking enforcement is very strict on campus, so you have to be very aware of where you are allowed to park. I suggest getting a motor scooter, they are very convenient,.

Overall Experience: Amazing Experience – If I had to do it again, I would choose to go to University of Florida in a heartbeat. There is always something going on, on or off campus. There are so many people to meet and so much to get involved with, you are bound to find something that will interest you. Most importantly, the education you receive at the university is outstanding. I have yet to meet a professor that hasn't broadened my education experience. Everyone is so helpful and Gainesville has honestly become my second home.

Health & Safety: I generally feel safe on University of Florida's campus. The only time I have ever felt uneasy is walking alone at night, which I don't do often, but there are many services there to help so you don't have to walk alone at night.

Scholarships: The Process Is Very Smooth – So far when I have received financial aid, the process behind it is very painless. The university lets me know when I receive a scholarship through an online process and from there I accept or deny it. It in a painless process that has been successful.

Overall Experience: Go Gators!! My experience as a student at the University of Florida have been great so far. Professors are really knowledgeable, classes can be challenging but, it's one of the greatest school in Florida. As an Engineer I must say that we have an advantage over other schools in Florida. I have received great internships/job opportunities. Recruiters all around the U.S. know the University of Florida and its reputation. If I had to choose it all over again, I would choose UF again over any other school in Florida. Due to it's low cost and it would avoid me out-state-tuition it would be my #1 choice across the U.S as well. There are also many activities and gator football the main entertainment.

Health & Safety: Safety Around Campus – Safety around campus is really important to the University of Florida and the Gainesville Police Department. If there is an emergency, crime, or suspicious activity everyone will receive a notification via e-mail. I also have these notifications via text message as well. The University of Florida offers free escort service for students who live in campus. The services are from 6 PM - 3 AM and encourages students to not walk alone at night. I feel really safe on campus, I never had any problems.

4 College Senior

Parking: It's not essential to have a car on campus. Gainesville has a great transportation system. All the students from the University of Florida travel for free on the bus at any time. There is a Decal cost of $60 per semester. Finding a parking spot can be hard depending on the time. Around 9 AM it is the hardest. Without the decal you will have to pay for parking. It costs about $1 for 1 hour, $3 for 3 hours and $5 for all day. Your car may be towed or fined if you park in a decal zone without the decal.

4 College Junior

Weather: Very hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Rains in the afternoons.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
