Diversity: Evenly Diverse School – There are three main ethnic groups in numbers. I have mainly noticed a majority of Caucasians mostly of Floridian residence, which probably make up over half the student body. There is also a noticeable Hindu and Far east nationality, I believe that these ethnic groups combined make up about 30% of the student body.

Nightlife: Gators Go Hard – Nightlife in Gainesville is an every night event. You have to be 21 or older to truly get into the club scene, but an enormous percentage of the student population goes out the the clubs and bars surrounding the college. Parties there are also a regular occurrence.

Academics: Academic Excellence – University of Florida is one of the leading research colleges in the nation. They have amazing opportunities for students interested in health, law, and business careers. It is a big school and seeing advisors is sometimes a setback, but if you are self motivated and take the time to plan out your education you will do awesome here! Go Gators!

Majors: Pick Your Program! You can pick whatever you want to do and there is most likely a college for that. The college of liberal arts is one of the biggest as well as the college for engineering. However, one problem is that because there are so many students in the college of liberal arts you often have to wait a long time to see an academic advisor unless you make an appointment.

Nightlife: Gainesville has a midtown and a downtown which are both filled with bars and clubs. It is hard to find a night where there is no place to go. There is also a night on campus called gatornights for those who are into something more laidback. It includes a movie and some fun activities.

Campus Housing: SOme of the more social dorms, such as Broward, are not the cleanest and nicest, but it is very easy to make friends. Dorms like Beaty ar every nice and clean but people the live in them feel as if they are more secluded.

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments Aren't Hard to Find! Apartments are not very hard to find around the University of Florida. Although they are not extravagant and huge, they are nice and comfortable. Also, they aren't too pricey! I know people that are saying in an off-campus apartment for all four years of college and are very happy with their decision.

Weather: It can get extremely hot here, in which case will make it hard to roam around outside comfortably, but many of the days are nice and warm. It can get cold during the winter, but does not snow or get nearly cold enough to affect many activities.

Academics: I am studying FInance at the University of Florida and it is going very smoothly. The professors are very helpful and knowledgeable. They are always available for extra assistance. They encourage you to push yourself, which is why i may find myself working towards entering the accounting program next year.

Academics: University of Florida offers great opportunities for many majors. I was interested in this school because of its great business program. The campus is big, yet easy to get around and very beautiful. You may find yourself taking classes with many students or classes online, however, communicating and asking the teacher questions is effortless.

Diversity: Very Diverse – There's people from all walks of life and corners of the world

Transportation: Buses Are Great – The bus system is your best option. There are many places the buses can take you, although some places are harder to get to than others. Some run until 2am, extremely convenient and it's completely free to students. The big bus chains that run from Gainesville to other cities... not so much. More expensive and take forever. Too bad there aren't any trains. There is SNAP, which is a student run nighttime "taxi" if you will where you can call up SNAP and they'll pick you up anywhere on campus and take you anywhere on campus- free. Runs until 4am

Drug Safety: Depends on Who You Are – The campus isn't littered with alcoholic containers and in honesty it isn't very evident. If you hang around people who like drinking, you'll see it everywhere. If you don't, you wont see it. Close to campus, around game time, drinking is more evident and in the open. Other than that, our campus is smoke-free so there are less and less people smoking on campus.

Health & Safety: Totally Safe – In 4 years I never heard of any serious crimes happening on campus. We have our own police force which is really cool because they aren't busy with Gainesville "crimes" and can focus on the campus. Also we have blue light poles which have an emergency button on them. You push it and it calls the police for you and tells them your location. You can always see the next blue pole from the one you are at so if you are running from someone you can push each red button and the police can track your path and determine where you are heading to help find you.

Overall Experience: I Love It Here! I really love UF but Gainesville can be a little boring. If you don't like to drop a lot of cash then there is a limited number of things to do around the city. But I love the campus, the professors for my major, and of course, the Football! Being able to go to football games and be a part of this large community of fans is a wonderful experience. The Gator Nation truly is everywhere and I am so blessed to be a part of it

Computers: Priniting Labs, There's Only One! I would have to rate the printing labs as a C. This is because as of right now there is only one priniting lab on campus with maybe 25 computers and 3 printers. You can imagine how crowded this can get with about 50,000 students at the University. Also the page limit of 250 pages a semester is low especially since most professors post powerpoint slides and it is benefical for the student to print those slides out and bring them to class. More printing labs and a higher page limit would increase the grade given for sure!

Off-Campus Housing: Many Options – There are so many apartment complexes to choose from, literally dozens, and many come furnished and with private bathrooms and include utilities in the low rent. There's frequent bus routes to a lot of them. Houses are also plentiful and the cost is typically low.

Local Atmosphere: It's nationally acclaimed and recognized as one of the best college towns in the country, for student living and for the general population. It's been named best city to live in, and in there's a lot nearby for college kids to enjoy to.

1 College Sophomore

Parking: Walk If Possible – Parking at UF is a mission, and there are very few spots available. The apartments are close enough for you to walk, and if you live on-campus, it's even more convenient.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Not Too Shabby – There are plenty of good places to eat near campus! Some are more expensive than others, but there are plenty of selection.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Depends on What You Want and Where You Look – It's not hard to find a nice apartment for a very reasonable price, especially if you are willing to go a little farther away from campus. If you want to live within walking distance, the prices get a little expensive for the nicer places and/or the apartments aren't all that nice. But overall, off campus housing is reasonable.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: It's important to have a diversity because it makes things more selective.

Overall Experience: LOVE THIS NATION – It's no wonder we're called the gator nation. The pride at this school is incredible and seeps into your very core. I love how social it is and how easy it is to make friends. There's never a dull moment at UF. From home football games, crazy frat parties, eating out with friends, there is always something to do. The majority of the professors are also great. They really care about your intake of knowledge and growth at the University of Florida. I just finished my freshman year, and If I could I would do it all over again.

Majors: An Internship If I Had One – University of Florida is very big on Greek life. I believe this question all depends on personal interests. Some females prefer to be in sororities and others do not. However, I don't believe being a female out of a sorority causes any life changing events. They can still attend house parties if they are interested, they just can't attend socials. Additionally, they don't have to worry about dues every month which is beneficial.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Chose Healthy Food Options – I did not have a meal plan during the school year. However, I did visit the dining halls and I went to the markets that were open late. The food was good at the dining halls and they had healthy choices as well. Additionally, the markets were convenient and were open late. The only bad thing about the food plan and markets are that they are expensive.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
