Scholarships: Financial aid is great but unfortunately there arn't many scholarships for fine arts major( almost non), I finally applied to a Hispanic scholarship but still waiting to here from them. Money is tuff when there is no one to help. Most scholarships are for math, science, and engineering majors; not art majors.

Athletics: UF students and community members have great school spirit , the whole city revolves around gator football and gator spirit.

Local Atmosphere: Lots of local nature parks, recreational parks, and sports. Its easy to just join in with people playing volleyball, basketball, and making friends in the process. One this that is really great about Gainesville is that there are allot of friendly drives, not allot of people getting cut off in traffic. Its definitely a safe environment , the school and city police provides students with criminal warnings whenever something bad happens through emails and text messages.

Nightlife: Gaines ville is a small town so you frequently run into friends all the time whether you are in a nightclub, bar, or just eating out at and local restaurant.

Majors: The Fine Arts program at the University of Florida is highly competitive. The last years have been a great experience. The professors are very knowledgeable, helpful, and understanding. I work full time during the nights at the university and go to school full time during the day as well. It has been a struggle but in the long run it has help me become a more motivated and strong individual. Finding time to work on projects and manage work has made be develop very good time management skills. The course work for the fine arts field is very dense, thus requiring me to do tremendous amounts of projects outside of class. The faculties with regards to class workspace and workshop are very clean and spacious, allowing us students to work in a clean and friendly environment. Class lab hours are always open for student 24 hours a day, but must have key or ID access. Overall, I enjoy the school and and i am currently coming up to my final year here.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
