3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Sometimes has good food, but don't always cook meat thoroughly.

2 College Freshman

Campus Dining: I wish there were more options in terms of healthier food.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: i don't live on campus, nor do I eat anything on campus.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Similar and loo quality everyday

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Only 3 dining halls on campus, each with questionable "healthy" options. Dining service can definitely and should improve.

The phrase "dorm food" is notorious at most schools, but DU's on-campus dining isn't that bad. Sodexho Marriott, the campus food and beverage supplier, tries to be creative and provide students with variation, but inevitably some meals in the dorms are served repeatedly. Many sophomore students complain about being required to have a meal plan, and some opt either to shop for their own food or eat off campus, regardless of the plan. The expense of eating off campus is eased by applying flex points at some off-campus vendors, although students sometimes say they wish more off-campus restaurants accepted flex points.

Several cafés are located strategically throughout campus, boosting tired students with quick caffeine shots when needed. The cafés also have wired connections and plenty of outlets for computers, making them perfect study spots. Many healthy options such as fruit salads, yogurt parfaits, and light sandwiches are available. If the sugar bug bites, though, don't miss out on the baked goodies, including giant peanut butter cookies and chocolate chip brownies.

Did You Know?
  • All coffee served on DU's campus is supplied by fair trade coffee growers. Starbucks used to be the reigning coffee supplier on campus, until a DU student persuaded administration to make the switch.
  • All sophomore residents or those living in Johnson-MacFarlane or Centennial Halls are required to have a meal plan. A meal plan also is available for upper-class or graduate students who commute, or live in apartments and have access to a kitchen, but still like to eat on campus.
