3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The food is usually top notch depending on which dining hall you go to. The hours are alright.

2 College Junior

Campus Dining: The food at this school is pretty awful. Some of it is good, but it's mostly awful. We have some good fast food options in our student centers (Quiznos, Chik-Fil-A) but I will never forgive them for taking away Taco Bell and putting in "Burger Studio". All the food in the dining hall tastes freezer burnt or just not good, but you have to eat it if you want to survive the semester. There's hardly any variety - every so often they'll have "Asian Grille" night or "Fiesta" night or some other themed nonsense to serve something more ethnic, but it's mostly very bland or "American" food - I don't mind it all that much, because I'm picky, but their idea of vegetarian options is to shove a pasta dish in the corner and label it vegetarian or the like. You get a lot more variety in the student centers than you do in the dining halls. Dining halls also have hours that seem convenient but once you go to class you realize how inconvenient it is (the closest dining hall to the main campus has the worst food). It'd be nice if they had something that ran from 7am until 9pm, all day, just so it was easier to plan meals around classes. They do have late night dining, but only at one dining hall, all the way on North campus. They also have "to go" where you slide your meal card and you can take away two styrofoam containers of measured out food vs. being able to go in there and do buffet style. Pencader and Russel both serve UDairy ice cream, which is made on campus, and is probably the most delicious ice cream I've ever had, so I usually tried to go to one of those two dining halls.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The dining halls are hit or miss. Some days they serve delicious food items and some not so much. Most of the times other dining halls have better options than the one closest to my own dorm. The campus offers a variety of places where you can use points or flex in order to purchase food or other items.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Food is okay on certain nights, but definitely needs improvement.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There are plenty of dining halls around that are walking distance. There are also many scrounges where you can get different types of food. We have P.O.D and express markets near different complexes which are opened till 2am so there is no reason why you cant get a late night snack

You can survive, and even become a little plump, on dining hall meals. There is always plenty of food, but the food itself it not always so tasty. There are some people who are tremendously fond of the dining hall and sing its praises, but most students find themselves looking for other options pretty quickly. The food courts are a good place to use your points, and students often find themselves choosing fewer meals in favor of points.

After some time, students figure out which dining halls prepare which meals the best and move between them to satisfy their cravings. One of the major motivations to move off campus is the ability to escape the dining hall food. The dining hall experience gives you a new appreciation for cooking, and most students are happy to break away from the poor quality, tasteless meals that the dining plan offers.
