Majors: For grad school, my GPA was high enough that I didn't have to take the MAT. I had to obtain 3 letters of recommendation and include a personal statement. The application process was easy and very doable.

Majors: As a grad student and single mom, I appreciate the fact that I can work toward my Masters of Education almost entirely online. The Teacher Education program is highly recommended.

Parking: Parking permits are fairly expensive. It's not bad to find a spot in the big commuter lot at the corner of Brown and Stewart Streets, but it's a bit of a walk to some classes. The parking attendants are very helpful; they suggested 15 minute parking areas to just run into a building quickly.

Academics: UD's programs are nationally recognized in a variety of academic areas. It's a high quality school.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: UD is a wonderful school and highly rated for it's academic programs and sports. The campus is beautiful, too. It's a great place to be!

Local Atmosphere: I've lived in Dayton most of my life, and it's a great city. It's not so big that it's difficult to get around, but there's always something fun to do.

Scholarships: Via email, Financial Aid helped me through a variety of issues. They took care of all my problems within a matter of days. Without even having to step foot into the financial aid office, they were able to get me the loans I needed, and even a grant! The financial aid staff is very helpful and supportive and will answer emails promptly. It was a really good experience!

Athletics: UD has great pride in its athletes. UD Flyers basketball is a huge part of campus life and important to the city of Dayton as a whole. UD spirit is very strong!

Off-Campus Dining: There are tons of restaurants on Brown Street within walking distance of campus. There are many affordable options better than fast food, such as Panera and Chipotle.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Winter is probably the worst with walking around campus. Snow and ice and hills are not a good combination.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: As a single mom, and grad student, I'm not really into the nightlife scene.

5 College Sophomore

Computers: I've never had any trouble logging onto computer labs and they have plenty available. Their campus is up to speed with current technology and internet access is always available.

Off-Campus Dining: Brown street is right by the campus and has a large variety of restaurants. There are healthier choices such as Fusian or a pizza place such as Dewey's for pizza lovers. The cost is about the same for each, it's never above ten dollars for a single person and they're all usually open until 10pm. The Flyer cards with meal plans are accepted on Brown Street dining areas.

Drug Safety: I have never witnessed any drug use on campus except alcohol. Most of the students who are juniors are 21 already so it is legal for them to buy alcohol. Parties are never during the week days unless it's after a huge basketball game but drugs aren't involved. The students at UD are concerned with their education as it should be and students pay for an education there because they are surrounded by those who have the same focus.

5 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I was offered over half of my tuition in financial aid right away. After submitting FAFSA it took less than a month to receive word on my financial aid awarded.

Campus Housing: The dorms allow students to interact with others around them and build relationships with others on campus. The social atmosphere all depends on those willing to reach out. Living on campus also is convenient because students have all the campus resources available to them.

Nightlife: The nightlife on campus doesn't get out of control yet it's still an enjoyable weekend. There's a strip of restaurants right by campus and our meal plans are included in those restaurants. There's plenty of student housing so anyone can stop by the Dark Side and go to parties that are taking place if they choose to. Any activity is in walking distance.

Off-Campus Housing: Since UD is centered in Dayton, there's a lot of close cities in which students can choose to rent or commute from. Off-campus housing is still right around the corner and there's several lots students are able to park in.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: Being in Ohio, the weather changes from day to day but on campus they have tons of activities still available indoors such as a smoothie stand, library, bowling alley, and the pool or rock wall. Students can stay active even with cold or rainy weather.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I've never experienced or witnessed campus crime at UD. I feel completely safe walking around campus and so do my peers. Even during large events with a mass of people, security controls the campus well. The police are always monitoring the parking lots and campus after basketball games and etc.

Computers: You definitely need your own personal computer. The network is pretty good here but the speed could be a bit better.

Athletics: Athletics here are great. The basketball had a great run this year which gave the school some great publicity. The school spirit was unbelievable during the basketball games as well. Other than that, school spirit and fan support is awesome on campus no matter the sport.

Scholarships: I wish the university would have instituted the book scholarship when I was a freshman!

4 College Junior

Diversity: The diversity that can be found on campus is great. The school is pretty diverse and I think its great to see foreign students becoming friends with kids from around here.

Drug Safety: Underage drinking is going to happen everywhere. If students choose to drink underage then its going to happen. The campus attempts to enforce this and the drug use. I think the drug use should be enforced more but there isn't that much of it to begin with.
