College Senior

Greek Life: I have no knowledge about this.

Health & Safety: There are emergency buttons across campus and it's pretty safe.

Campus Strictness: If you get caught, they are very strict on the policies. However, it seems like no one is looking out to enforce them, except parking.

Athletics: I don't usually pay attention to the athletics.

Academics: The professors are pretty great. They are knowledgeable, helpful, and (usually) fair. There are plenty of options to get further involved in your area of study, too.

2 College Senior

Scholarships: There are a few scholarships. It's probably about average.

2 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: It's the same few places you see everywhere. The prices are not good at most of the restaurants and if you want any vegan/vegetarian options then you're going to struggle.

3 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: It's in Colorado Springs. The same things pop up every few miles. There are some hidden gems (free yoga, bars, coffee places) but it seems like most things close really early.

2 College Senior

Campus Housing: Many of my friends say it is the absolute worst living in the dorms here.

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Boys and girls are ok here, but nothing spectacular. You can really see why Colorado is high on the worst dressed list, but everyone is pretty athletic.

College Junior

Nightlife: I don't go to any night parties but I'm sure there are a few though I don't know where they're at.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: The quality of the courses are good and so are the professors. All of them have been at the very least somewhat interesting and the professors are there to educate and help you learn.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Career prospects are good here, there are many clubs and networks associated with the different majors and students can get internships.

Majors: I personally have had one of the best internship experiences. I was hired onto Lockheed Martin in my sophomore year. I attended an internship/full-time recruitment fair and Lockheed Martin was one of the booths. UCCS is great about hosting these type of events for those looking for an internship or full-time job. Not many people attend, however the benefits to doing so are great. My internship at Lockheed is paid and full-time during the summer, however I am also working part-time during the school year. My responsibilities are that of a full-time employee. As an intern, most people typically think you will be getting coffee and faxing, however Lockheed has you fully involved in the program and work.

Majors: There really was no process of getting into my program. I spoke to my counselor and was admitted almost immediately. The only criteria to getting into your program I'm aware of is your GPA.

2 Recent Alumnus

Greek Life: UCCS attempts to have a Greek life, but is not successful. We have two sororities and two fraternities on campus, both of which are fairly easy to join, as long as you have the money to pledge. With such a small Greek life, we do not have any Greek houses. Again, UCCS in the past has been a commuter school and the Greek life is almost non-existent because of that.

3 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Dining: The off-campus dining around UCCS is average. A new shopping center was recently built to include popular chains, like Chipotle, Noodles and Tokyo Joe's, however the shopping center also includes the more high-end chains, like BJ's Warehouse. There are several other restaurants around campus, further down the street, but again, they are the popular chain restaurants and fast-food. However, we do have an on-campus pub, Clyde's, which is nice to check out between classes.

3 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: UCCS is a relatively small campus, with mostly a commuter population. However, I have seen a recent shift in the last year or two, with the amount of on-campus students. The school is attempting to get more students involved in the athletics, but unfortunately we don't have many varsity sports on campus. The intermural and club sports are definitely more popular for that reason. Soccer specifically is very popular on campus, both varsity and club sports. As far as attending the games, I've gone to a few basketball games and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of people attending. Overall, UCCS is not known for their athletics.

3 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: After completing your FASFA, the awards are displayed in the Portal, where you can accept or decline. However, with several of the awards, it requires additional paperwork to be completed via studentloans.gov. I attempted to accept a student loan for this summer but the form was not processed in time for the semester. UCCS attempts to help, but they can only do so much when other sites are involved. Advice is to apply early and sort out required forms as soon as possible.

College Sophomore

Athletics: I didn't really pay attention to the athletics at my school .

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: At my school they really didn't have an off campus housing selection.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: College is a lot of more work than in high school. In high school you have your teachers that actually care about you and want you to succeed and in college they just throw the work at you and leave it all up to you. My favorite experience would definitely have been the Foam Dance party . I wouldn't choose UCCS if i could do it all over because it's too expensive.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: There isn't really a lot of diversity in the college community. the majority are Caucasian

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: There was never a time when I was on campus and there wasn't a safety officer present, and I stayed in a dorm for two weeks. Crime on campus never existed. I felt safe walking alone at night because I knew if something did happen (which it never would) an officer wouldn't be too far. I have a great level of comfort on campus when it comes to security.

College Sophomore

Majors: I am not in a program. It was difficult to get into the college
