Off-Campus Housing: There are quite a few off-campus housing spots. The college allows these places to advertise on their campus. The cons of living off campus is obviously not being as close to the campus buildings. A lot of the housing is pretty close to the campus though. Landlords are average and it is really safe. Parking is not a problem off campus. The cost is probably better than living on campus, and it not as strict. Dorms have a curfew for having the opposite sex in their dorm.

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I don't live off campus, I commute to school from another town.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I have never lived off-campus, but have looked into it before. There are several pros and cons. If you don't plan on staying here in the summer, you have to think about paying rent for when you're not there if you live off-campus. Whereas on-campus the lease is only for the school year. Edmond is a pretty safe cities, but on-campus the campus police are right there and always visible. The school has a whole office dedicated to helping students with off-campus life. The school is very helpful in assisting students with any off-campus life issues.

Off-Campus Housing: UCO is in the center of Edmond, Oklahoma, a fast growing community. There are apartments, duplexes, and houses all around which cator to college students. It's a great way to be near the university, yet be more independent and adult. The cost is about the same as living in the available dorms, but living independent is always more exciting and a better way to mature.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: It's definitely cheaper to live off campus when compared to dorms and such on campus. However, it's difficult to find something nearby if you don't want (several) roommates.

The off-campus housing availability near the UCO campus offers the next best thing to staying on campus. The majority of housing available off campus is affordable and located within a few blocks of campus, but some students live as far as five miles away. Not only are off-campus residents within minutes of their classes and campus resources, they are also able to actively participate in student campus life, such as annual parades and local sporting events, as well as being able to experience college in the privacy of their own homes.

While a large portion of the student body lives on campus, off-campus residents have the freedom in choosing to live alone, live with a roomate, and maintain their lifestyles practically on their own terms. Students off-campus also reside among various walks of life, such as families, children, and pets, in addition to other UCO students in these residential areas. The best part of all about staying off campus? Free and convenient parking!
