College Sophomore

Facilities: I try to spend as little time on campus as possible.

1 College Sophomore

Facilities: I do not enjoy being on campus at all. It doesn't have a "good" feeling to me and is an unpleasant place to be. It also doesn't feel safe to me. I go to class, get what I need to get done finished as soon as possible, and go home.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: We have the most beautiful student workout gym ever!

4 College Freshman

Facilities: The location is great because there are a ton of businesses in Orlando that give internships and jobs to UCF students.

The UCF gym has received great reviews from students and critics alike! It's definitely worth checking out. Not only can you work out there, but you can partake in Wellness Center programs, such as biofeedback and massages. You can snack at the concession stand or climb the towering-rock wall that lords above the fitness area. Group exercise classes are energetic, fast-paced, and offer a rewarding workout with a chance to meet tons of people.

Aside from the gym, the facilities at UCF are new and usually clean. The school hasn't been around long enough to have deteriorated or aged just yet. When that time comes, I foresee maintenance and administration keeping everything up-to-par. You'll find state-of-the-art technology and equipment in most buildings. The students reap the benefits of all the facilities on campus.

Favorite Things To Do
Attend a group workout class. Exercise classes are very motivating and fun. Be sure to find a class that fits your strength and endurance. The Athletic Center offers classes such as kick-boxing and hip-hop dance. There's a class for everyone. Get a massage for $40! Although $40 may sound a little steep, this is actually a very reasonable price; massages usually go for double that. Spots fill up fast, so make sure to schedule your appointments in advance, or make several in the beginning of the semester. Visit the UCF Robinson Observatory. What's an observatory? It's one of those tall, domed top buildings that have a huge telescope in it. And there's one on campus! This is a great place to bring a date or visit with friends because it's unexpected and free! Feed the squirrels, even though they advised against it. (They really like Apple Jacks.)

Did You Know?
  • UCF's Main Library houses around 1,517,004 volumes, one of which is a Vulgate Bible printed in 1546, the oldest printed volume the University owns. In addition, the library also adds almost 200 books to its collection each day, and has an impressive number of microform units, totaling 2,821,936. That's enough to stretch, end-to-end, 225 miles, from Orlando to St. Petersburg and back.
  • The library also delivers documents to UCF students living as far away as Switzerland, in support of UCF's distributed learning programs.
  • In 2005, UCF opened the Progress Energy University Welcome Center to better accomodate prospective students and their families visiting the campus. The center boasts a gift store, large auditorium, and a new home for the Undergraduate Admissions Office, as well as the latest in electronic and computer technology, making the office's use for paper in their business dealings practically obsolete.
