3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Guys and Girls – the guys and girls on campus id say are above average. a lot of the greek life students are typical frat and sorority kids, and very ordinary.

Health & Safety: Average, If You Are Smarter Than the Typical Freshman – On campus crime is average to all other colleges I felt. Its not like if you left your bag unattended it would automatically get snatched but...it could happen.

Word of advice never, and I mean never live in Pegasus Landing or Pegasus Pointe. The locals from the rougher parts of town know its where the younger college kids live and since most of them have rich parents it is broken into ALL the TIME!! I never lived there but it constantly is on the news and such.

The cops on campus have had very intense complaints about race relations and their demeanor
towards domestic abuse and rape victims. So yeah, be aware they can be douchy. But honestly when on campus alone I almost always felt safe. Sometimes at night I wasn't too sure but I would just call a friend and then talked while walking to my car.

Campus Housing: Overall Good Dorms – The freshman dorms at Lake Claire aren't that bad. The upper classmen dorms are nice at Towers, but very overpriced.

2 College Senior

Parking: Come Early!! If you want a parking spot, make sure you come to campus early or get ready for a hike. I avoided the pains by parking far away and walking to class.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Anything You Could Want – There was never a time where I wanted a certain kind of food and couldn't find it near campus.

4 College Senior

Computers: The computers at UCF work great on campus. There is wireless all over campus that works very quickly. Always lines for printing centers so I didn't utilize them much.

2 College Freshman

Weather: Humidity Is Crazy – The humidity in summer is really bad, it feels like you're drinking the air. It's great pool weather but walking as much as you do on campus is pretty exhausting in the heat and humidity. The winter is normally pretty mild, and spring is really nice as well though.

2 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drug/Alcohol Is Popular – you can tell a lot of the students here have tried both drugs and alcohol. People will walk around with a lit joint in broad daylight, and not even be worried about being caught. The drinking is kept a little more quiet, but is still noticeable at certain events, even with underage students.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Loved It, but Not Cost Effective – I honestly loved living on campus. They were very helpful in finding me a place to stay, and the availability to sign up for next year was great. I didn't like the roommate I was paired with, as we have different habits that clash. It is also very expensive, and what we live in is not worth the cost to me. I loved being right next to everything, and it was convenient being so close to the gym, library, and all of my classes.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life at UCF is nothing like UF or FSU but the foundations of good sororities and fraternities could make greek life at UCF fantastic in several years.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Live Off-Campus – You save so much by living off campus. Put up with the parking or take a shuttle but its worth saving the extra bucks, on campus housing really isnt that nice for the cost.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Greek or Geek – The student body can best be described as "Greek or Geek". Most students are either very in to the school, SGA, and academic studies while the other half is all about partying (greek life).

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Social Lives – The RAs ask that you keep quiet after ten pm. As long as you are quiet, they do not mind.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: School Spirit – There are a variety of sports to satisfy a plethora of students, and the school gets very excited during game seasons. The school comes alive with face painting, university of central florida shirts and costumes.

5 College Freshman

Facilities: U-C-F? a-W-E-S-O-M-E! From the moment I stepped on UCF's campus as a student, I knew I was at the perfect university. The academics are competitive not only in stat, but across the country. With the new medical school and the Rosen College of Hospitality Management, UCF continually seeks to improve. The social scene is great. On any given night, you can find a place to hang out and have some fun. With the sporting events, so many students have an interest in the sports that the fanbase is absolutely phenomenal. With this support, we really do give the Knights that coveted homefield advantage.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: Where to Begin? On UCF's campus, there always seems to be something going on. Whether it is the sporting events, the Greek life events, the events in the Student Union, or even the off campus scene, there is always something to do and people to meet. If you are the drinking type, there nearby nightclubs that will suit you. Whether you just like hanging out with friends, there are many places from pretty much anywhere on the vast campus to any of the nearby shopping centers.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: The city of Orlando where the University of Central Florida resides is full of so much things to do whether it be concerts, theme-parks or just a stroll around the downtown area. UCF itself is like a mini- city. There are over 50,000 students whom attend the school and there are always different kinds of events going on each and everyday.

Transportation: UCF's public transportation is very convenient and free, they even have stops at various off-campus apartment complexes. The buses are usually on time and make many stops throughout the campus, but it is sometimes difficult to secure a spot on a bus if you don't leave home early enough. Public transportation seems limited to the immediate area around UCF, due to the fact that the school is not a "commuter school". Overall, the transportation options UCF provides are better than driving yourself and finding parking.

2 Recent Alumnus

Diversity: Mostly "Rich" Kids – Although most of the students at UCF don't have any money of their own, it seems the vast majority of them come from upper-class families. Diversity in economic background is limited. As such, the campus is filled with brand new sports cars, iPhones, trendy clothes, and other things that students wouldn't normally have the means to purchase. It's common to hear about students getting a "free ride" through college, either from parents or scholarships (the latter of which is more respectable).

4 Recent Alumnus

Facilities: The Library Is Great – UCF's library is a great place to research and study. They have 4 floors, with each floor being quieter than the one below it. There is a coffee shop and lounge area filled with computers, for those with a more "relaxed" studying style. The building itself is located in the center of campus-- making it easy to get to from any direction-- and overlooks the campus' spectacular water fountain. You could easily spend the whole day at the campus library.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Its Amazing – I love being here, the atmosphere is amazing. there is so much to do, and the up keep of the campus is a guarentee. If i could do it all over again i wouldnt do anything differently.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greeks Scene – They are there and a good part of some of the things that go on around campus, but they arent favored.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Personal Safety – The campus police are very good at what they do. there is its own police station, and emergency buttons everywhere around campus. they even offer to drive you around campus after dark so that you dont have to travel alone.

1 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Housing from Hell – Housing on or near campus is a complete waste of money; they charge an arm and a leg just for one room. Universities across the border need to realize that if they are charging us so much money for housing they are also hindering people from getting an education. We are the future of tomorrow and if there are not enough of us, then the world will be in havoc.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Teachers Are the Best – UCF, is currently the nation's second largest school student body wise. I must say that they need to expand more and hire more teachers, class sizes are ridiculous, and not to mention trying to find spots when registration opens. I have admired all my professors thus far, they are well educated and try their best to help you out in any form possible.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
