Drug Safety: At the University of Central Florida, there does not appear to be any drug problem. I mean, besides a few students that might be the occasional pot smokers, all the students I have met are drug free, dedicated students who want to be nurses, doctors, engineers, researchers, teachers and what more. I've met only one person on campus (in the two years that I have attended), who I thought might be a druggie. Everyone else is here for school, not drugs.

Transportation: There are free shuttles that are around campus as well as near the student off campus housing that provide good options for students not wanting to drive to school. However, those free shuttles are more available for students that live within a 5 mile radius of school. For those who live farther off campus, there is Lynx transportation that is pretty reliable. It goes all throughout Orlando. I guess what makes transportation more challenging is the amount of people that live within Orlando, which is expected because it is a big city. The cost for Lynx is a lot cheaper than driving your car, only $50 a month for a 30 day pass, and with public transportation you don't have to worry about paying to park your car on campus, which saves you money. Also, the school implemented a program call Zimride, which is where you can find people that are traveling around the same area as you that you can carpool with to save money.

Athletics: School Spirit, Hooray! The student involvement just blew me away when I first started attended school here, especially at football games. Turnouts to football games are amazing and the students really know how to cheer on the team by using face paint, screaming touchdowns when they happen, dressing up in school colors, etc. We get all excited when football season comes. But it's not just football season the gets all the students here excited about athletics. There is a ton of support for soccer, basketball, and baseball as well, not to mention track and swimming. Our teams do a fantastic job! There is ample room for the teams to do their best.

Weather: You Never Know – Florida's weather is very fickle, so to judge the college on cancelling classes is not very fair. It all depends on whether the professor cancels his/her class or not. There are always people hanging around the Reflection Pond or eating lunch outside. It's an extremely beautiful campus, so most people take advantage of it when the weather is nice!

Local Atmosphere: A Big City – I'm originally from a much smaller town than Orlando. In Orlando, the possibilities are endless; there is that much to do. There are a variety of theme parks to choose from, like Disney and Universal which are only about an hour from the school. There are numerous activities on campus as well such as Late Knights, football games, two swimming pools, etc. It is a friendly student atmosphere. The safety is good too. There is a police department on campus protecting the students at UCF. There are tons of places to go shopping in like the Orlando Fashion Square Mall, the Mall at Millenia, and the many shoppes of Waterford Lakes right down the street from the school. Never a dull moment in Orlando.

Academics: Wonderful Experience – The University of Central Florida has been a great experience so far. The professors are highly qualified, helpful, and generally concerned about their students' academic careers. The campus is gorgeous and extremely accessible. Though I'm not finished yet, I'm looking forward to the last few years I have left as a student at UCF.

Parking: Parking seems to always be the issue at most colleges. You always have to be at campus at least 45 minutes before your class starts to spend time finding a spot. Some kids have been caught selling their spots to desperate students late for class so if you decide to procrastinate in the morning make sure you carry cash to get a spot.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: Many Options – The dining halls are always serving up different foods to satisfy everyone's hunger but of course there are other places to eat on campus. They range from quick fast food joints to healthy smoothie cafes. There is something for everyone whether they are a vegetarian, a junk foodie, or a quick snack before class kind of student.

Facilities: The facilities at the University of Central Florida are very impressive and are updated constantly with new things, The recreation and wellness center for example is a two-story facility with all new and updated equipment for every exercise and activity imaginable. The library has lovely interior decorated floors to accommodate thousands of students with over 200 computers located all over the library for students to use. UCF has many modern resources for students to take advantage of.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: UCF has people from all over the world and with really different social backgrounds. The students and teachers respect that fact and treat them as part of the community without discrimination.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Eating Places – The campus is just like the food court in a mall you will never go hungry but only if you have money cause things are not cheap but well one just have to learn how to get the best for your buck.

4 College Freshman

Computers: Printing on Campus – The technology is really good considering how big the campus is. Also, they have a good printing program to make the student's budget a little more loose.

4 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: There is an office for Financial Aid in Milican Hall. There service is great, students can walk in and ask questions or apply. Students are required to fill the FAFSA and then they are evaluated, the school relies on the FAFSA to distribute financial aid.

Off-Campus Dining: The variety off campus is amazing. Going down University Blvd there are over ten restaurants to meet the satisfaction of any taste buds. There are Asian restaurants, fast foods, tea shops, basically anything.

5 Recent Alumnus

Health & Safety: Police and Safety Services – UCF has their own police department that is located on campus. Students can call the department to report suspicious activity and even in the late hours of night they can call them to transport them if the student feels unsafe.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Not Bad – The places around campus are all oriented towards students. It's cheap and a lot of fun. Cabs are a MUST, do not drink and drive. Most places are super close to campus so its definitely worth it just to pay a few bucks for a cab.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: So Many People – Everyone is obsessed with Greek life so if you don't care about that it's kind of annoying. There are alot of people trying to do movements and such, but there are so many students you're bound to find someone you have common interests with. Very diverse student body.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Get an Apartment Style Dorm – Nike was okay, but it was hard not having a kitchen. The Towers are way too expensive, so I'd say the best options are either Lake Claire or getting an apartment style dorm at the Academic Village. It's a long walk to class from there though. Over all, not bad.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Academics & Never Ending Growth – UCF's academic programs are incredible (especially our medicine/engineering programs/facilities) and the faculty of professors in each department is dedicated to their craft and the student body. The facilities we have for each department leave other students in "awe" because they do spend a lot of money on these things, but they do them right and give us the necessary technology and utensils for each departments needs. UCF is a never ending growing campus! There is a joke around the school, UCF, Under Construction Forever. The reason that it's "Under Construction Forever" is because the President along with everyone else here at UCF sees the need for bettering oneself and their surroundings. Out of these moments of bettering ourselves we get new facilities that are needed, technology smart rooms for the teachers and the students, as well as beautifying our campus even more, so that the student can relax outside while studying for that Bio exam at 3. UCF doesn't change things, we just build upon and better the good things that we were given for the entirety of the community.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: Being in the Greek atmosphere changes each persons social atmosphere vastly. That person is exposed to a lot more people around the campus and these individuals have a reputation to uphold depending on what organization that person may be in; one meets a lot of people from the campus and outside through these organizations and in doing so the social circles one has give a plethora of cultural education. Sadly, the Greek housing is only for selected Fraternities and Sororities, unlike other campuses where almost every popular Greek organization has a house. Students like me are forced to look elsewhere for housing since none of the music fraternities have housing on this campus.

College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Pretty Good – The only problem that two or three of the off-campus housing facilities have is the non-speedy maintenance response (fixing things). Besides this all of the off-campus housing facilities are pretty good and all have free transportation or a local bus system (Lynx) to take students to the campus.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: U of Central FL – In person they were not so great, but over the phone extremely helpful.

4 College Junior

Academics: University of Central FL – The departments are very helpful, I havent had a lot of experience yet since I just transferred but I am very happy with it.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Great and Always Helpful – All of my professors have been helpful. It is easy to see an advisor.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Not Strict – Rules are enforced but the rules do not affect the average student

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
