Off-Campus Housing: There are a ton of different options of apartments to live in off-campus, but you definitely pay for the locations. The further away from campus, the less expensive your apartment is going to be.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: Drugs Don't Live Here, Anymore. UCF doesn't seem to have a drug problem, but I am sure there is always a way to get your hands on it. Drinking appears to be more of a dominant hobby.

1 Recent Alumnus

Greek Life: I Don't Know – I don't know much about the Greek life except that in the beginning of the semester there was a party where a minor was served alcohol and died from alcohol poisoning.

5 Recent Alumnus

Local Atmosphere: Orlando Is Fun – there's a lot of great things to do on and off campus that are safe and fun

5 Recent Alumnus

Computers: the computer and printing labs on campus are very reliable

Weather: Summer Is Ridiculously Hot – Be prepared to sweat. A lot. Not sure how cold it gets in the winter as this is my first semester. If you're taking summer classes or starting in fall, bring a lot of tank tops and shorts. Flip flops are a must. Also ALWAYS bring an umbrella with you as it tends to rain almost every day at unexpected times.

Academics: As a freshman, expect to take weak classes in large lecture halls with professors who simply don't care. Many graduate students teach large lecture halls without anyone overseeing the class. Most classes have large online components. Very few students attend lecture halls and many seem to not care about their education at all. That's probably why people say UCF stands for U Can't Finish..

2 College Freshman

Nightlife: All Clubs – If you don't like clubbing, don't expect to do much at night. As someone who isn't a partier and doesn't drink or smoke, it's very hard finding other alternatives. I usually end up playing board games with my friends. Not much to do if you're underage or don't have a car or can't afford to go clubbing all the time.

1 College Freshman

Academics: You have to apply to be in the Radio/TV major, and you can't apply until you meet certain requirements. Most other schools aren't like this. Furthermore, only GPA is considered for admission, not skill or experience. You may not submit a resume or portfolio. And you can't use any of the resources such as equipment until you are admitted into the major, which hinders your ability to work on your skill or build your portfolio while waiting to apply for the major.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The Cheaper, the Better. At UCF, the cheaper dorms are the better way to go. They are closer to each other and closer to all the resources(Gym, Marketplace, etc.).

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Drive Down University Blvd. and Colonial Dr. There are about over 40 different restaurants down these two roads alone. They have fast-food restaurants, diners, whatever you fancy. Some people are very picky eaters...well they would love these roads simply because of the options they have.

5 College Freshman

Academics: So Much to Learn – When I came to UCF, I knew they had a wide variety of majors and degrees but I didn't think i'd learn as much as I did of other stuff besides Computer Science or whatever classes I was taking. The students are all very different and everyone's friendly and open to new things here.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Rush Hour – There are plenty of parking garages and lots spread out throughout the campus. However, during peak class hours there are an unreasonable amount of students on campus, making it difficult to find a spot. The garages often fill to capacity. Parking is conveniently located a short walking distance from the classroom buildings.

1 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: It's Not Worth It – The police force is extremely evident across campus, especially on game days. There is zero tolerance for underage drinking and drug use. Because most university-affiliated personnel will report these activities, big brother always seems to be watching. Consequences are severe. It's better to just take your parties away from campus. The risk just isn't worthwhile.

1 College Freshman

Computers: Lunchtime Is Terrible – Lunchtime is the worst time if you need to get anything done. Even on your computer at home, if you live in a dorm, it's slow. Printing isn't a must for your room, but it can get pretty expensive for color. The wait is usually terrible. You need your own computer, printing is something you'd want to consider. I don't even try labs- I stick to the library in a crunch, but it's a craps shoot.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Orlando Is Really Great! Orlando is really great for having a lot of people in it. Since we are a really large university, businesses like to market and give discounts to students a lot. There is also plenty of housing nearby if you aren't a huge fan of the dorms. Even if you don't own your own transportation, there are plenty of ways to get around. There is also enough on campus you'd never really need to leave for anything other than if your friends went out. We also have amazing theme parks, and our school gives discounted tickets. But as a theatre major who loves live music, I try to get downtown as much as possible to get into venues.

5 College Freshman

Greek Life: Very Involved Sororities and Fraternities – The sororities and fraternities on campus give back to the community and hold many events for the student body to participate in. There are several greek houses on campus and even have their own street on campus.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: Very Acccepting – there are many student bodies that ensure there is an accepting place for everyone on campus. There is a club for every race, religion, political group, and interest

5 College Freshman

Facilities: Very Social – the student union is always full of people, the gym is huge and is very accessible, the library has many computers you can use, and there is always something going on on campus

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Doesn't Seem Strict – As long as you stick to the basice rules, you really can't get in trouble

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Love It – UCF is one of the greatest colleges in America, it's no wonder this school has 60,000+ students. The campus life, nightlife, people, and overall feel of the university makes me proud to be a Knight.

1 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I'm not in a frat nor would I consider joining one, so this question is beyond me.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: Very Diverse – Walking through campus it is obvious that UCF is accepting to all ethnicities. Nobody gets treated badly for being a certain race, and overall it is a friendly environment.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Can Get Better – easy but sometimes can take a long time, and there is still aid that i qualify for but school as not given me

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Go Knights Go, Go Further! well team performance is good but only for their conference, i think that the athletic department needs to be challenged with challenge i believe the team will become better by going to a bigger better conference. (football) also i think the team might need new coaching direction one that has accreditation and meets qualifications within the football field. just being in an easy conference makes the team look good but stunts growth and i feel that we have won our conference and mastered that time to move on to bigger and better goals. school spirt and fan support is always there! go knights!

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
