3 College Sophomore

Weather: Usually it is very hot around campus but nothing that ruins your day. Sometimes there is a prolonged period of rain and lightning which can bring some cancellation of classes. But for the most part the weather does not affect what I want or need to do that day.

Campus Housing: Nike and Hercules are both newer than the other dorm room style housing. Both of those communities also are extremely close to the gym and pool which could be convenient for someone interested in those things. The problem with these dorms is that they are a farther walk to class and the stadium so you need to provide more time to get to where you need to go. But overall I find these dorms to be great for on campus housing.

Campus Strictness: Social Lives – UCF finds alternatives to drinking. Parties are organized by the school on Friday nights that allow students the opportunity to be amongst people that share their beliefs. The school allows drinking for tailgating but heavily polices the area.

5 College Junior

Diversity: Muliticultural Utopia – UCF has representatives from numerous cultures attending classes each semester. One just needs to walk around campus and listen to the different languages spoken by students. Professors are very helpful with students that seem to have problems with the language barrier.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: Police and Safety Services – UCF's police service is hands down the best I have ever seen. Being prior military, I have been trained to look for weak areas in security. UCF is very well lit at night and there are emergency phones throughout the campus. A courtesy email and text message are sent out warning students of possible crimes or areas of danger.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Very Diverse – There really isn't a way to describe the student body as a whole other than diverse. There are people who fit several different "social groups." My personal favorites are the people that take part in meaningful messages with their clothing. For example, many people on campus take part in Tom's Shoes "no shoes for one day" awareness day.

4 College Junior

Campus Dining: UCF offers a variety of places to eat. The student union provides both fast food and healthy alternatives. It also provides students with diverse option, such as kosher foods, Asian, French, and also popular American entrees. The dining halls are also nice. They give you new items almost every time you go to eat, pizza always being the popular item.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Extremely Modern – UCF is constantly upgrading campus. I love everything about campus from the brand new arena and football stadium to the newly renovated gym. Student union and the breeze way provide pretty much everything you would need. There are also several different stores and restaurants next to the arena. Everything on campus is awesome!

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: Many great memories, positive influences, great knowledge.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: There is very little pressure for students to par-take in any drug related activities. the school offers several fun drug free activities to keep students safely active. There will always be minimal peer presure, but nothing outrageous.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: Greeks are treated as average students throughout the campus. The only distingishing factor would be the outfits they wear.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are hundreds of great places to eat when you're at UCF. There are restaurants popping up all the time, all of which are affordable for students. A few offer discounts and special deals for students. The best place to check out is the waterford lakes plaza which is packed with great food.

5 College Junior

Computers: As a student at UCF, i've hours hunting for parking spots but it takes little effort to jump on a computer anywhere on campus. Computers at UCF are always accessible due to multiple computer labs and those in the library. Some even offer free printing. In addition, they are all brand new and have easy internet access. The library even offers laptops which you can take with you anywhere in the building for up to 4 hours.

2 College Junior

Scholarships: Usually Riddled With Complications. Whenever I apply for financial aid at the University of Central Florida, I have to jump through hoops to get my files processed. I have received very little financial aid, and none of it was directly from my university.

3 College Junior

Parking: The parking spaces on campus are incredibly small in size, but not too limited in quantity. There is always somewhere to park for class, just it's usually not where you would ideally want it to be.

4 College Junior

Academics: Professors Are Hit or Miss. Each professor at the University of Central Florida is entirely different. Some are willing to help and incredibly interested in your learning experience, and some aren't. Some professors will go above and beyond what is asked in order to give you the best education possible, and some won't. However, when you get an above average professor at this school, they are unforgettable and life-changing.

3 College Junior

Transportation: Biking Is the Best Option for Cost and Health, but Not for Safety. I recommend biking to and from campus, but with a helmet. All of my friends who drive or take the bus complain quite frequently about the cost or inconvenience, but all of the people I know who ride bikes to school save money and are generally healthier than people who don't. However, it is important to be careful riding across streets and intersections because there are reckless drivers that might hit you on your bike.

3 College Junior

Nightlife: Parties Are Generally Better Than Clubs, Unless You Go Downtown. Nightlife is definitely much better for those who are 21 and over, but that is typical of all cities really. The clubs around campus that have public transportation to them are not the best, but the clubs downtown are wonderful. I recommend going to house parties over clubs near campus.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments Here Tend to Be Unsafe or Overpriced. The apartments near the University of Central Florida definitely only allow for cheap and unsafe or expensive and safe. It's like putting a price on safety, and an expensive one at that. However, all of the apartments are very close to campus and do offer excellent amenities such as a pool, gym, and shuttles to and from campus.

5 College Senior

Athletics: Lots of intramural teams and teams that compete with other schools. Also we have an AMAZING gym and many fun classes that are offered there

3 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: The local atmosphere is pretty fun. There are many bars and places to eat, hang out in, shop at, etc. There are the Disney and Universal theme parks. The only problem is that you need a car to get to most places.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Top Notch Facilities – The rec center (gym) at UCF is amazing with two levels, a giant rockwall, state of the art equipment, tremills with tvs overlooking bottom level (weight floor). It also has a couple of delicious places for after a workout sesh such as Subway and Smoothie Junction. I have never seen a nicer gym before. As for the athletics, there are professional sports for every sport imaginable and also recreational teams for people just trying to have fun and get in shape.

4 College Senior

Academics: Pre-Clinical Health Science – My major is Health sciences - pre-clinical. I love it because it's interesting, you can choose from a variety of cool classes, many of which are not only informational but also hands on. The workload is challenging but still reasonable and if you put in the effort, you can certainly obtain an excellent GPA. For example, i recently took a sports injury prevention and rehabilitation class this summer and now feel confident in my ability to alleviate and help rehabilitate many injuries. We had a great deal of hands-on experience taping various types of injuries, palpating bony structures and knowing how to recognize certain injuries.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: UCF has always made all differnt cultures very welcomed on campus. theres numerous clubs you can join, and different ways to express your beliefs

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Special Security Measures – Not only does UCF have their own police force stationed right on campus grounds, they also have emergency buttons located all around campus for the students use.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
