5 College Senior

Facilities: Great Gym – UCF just added onto our recreation center and it now includes a hockey rink!

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: The drug scene at UCF isn't really big. UCF tries to do all they can prevent underage drinking.

4 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: UCF offers students many programs, such as experiential learning, that assist greatly in obaining jobs and internships- even with no work experince!

Recent Alumnus

Greek Life: Not Into It – I've never been interested in Greek life. Any remarks or opinions I have on the subject would be moot.

2 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Housing: For the steep prices one would expect better living conditions. Though living across the street may be convenient if you have a hard time getting to class don't expect to sleep! People are coming and going every hour of the day/night.

5 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Paying the Cost – UCF financial aid department is excellent at providing their service and answering any questions and concerns you may have.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: The diversity on campus is very unique. I don't believe that anyone is looked at weird because they are different. ig you are genuinely a nice person you will be respected no matter what or who you are.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The College Living – Living on Campus is wonderful. Everything is close. The campus is watched constantly by the UCF Police Department. There is always something to do that will keep you from getting home sick and allows you to enjoy the college experience while also staying healthy. They have the UCF gym to keep you in healthy and they also have 24hour study places so you dont have to bother your roommates and still feel comfortable studying all night.

Parking: There are many parking garages on campus but they are normally full. I arrive hours earlier before my class to make sure that I get a parking spot and avoid being late. My advice is to go early if you do not want the headache of having to find a parking spot. There are many parking spots if you go in the early morning.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Good Variety; Good Prices; Tasty Food – There is a variety of places ranging from bars, to pizza places and restaurants. The prices are decent for college students and most places offer delivery to dorm or apartments.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: Walk This Way – The transportation at UCF is good but your best bet to get anywhere is to walk. There is nice scenery and walking will get you there faster then any other way of transportation. There is also some good clubs and restaurant that are across from the school, so instead of wasting gas, you can get your cardio in and walk.

Local Atmosphere: What a Place – Orlando has so many activities to take part in, from the theme parks, to the shopping, to clubs and restaurants, Orlando has it all. The University of Central Florida is just minutes from Walt Disney World, Universal, and amazing outlet malls. Also the school itself has many activities for the student to go to, like sporting events and concerts. Going to school in Orlando is amazing!

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Always Something New – I am in the Rosen College of Hospitality at the University of Central Florida, and the college has been amazing so far. I am studying Event Management and the professors always have something to help out the students. For my midterm in my event class, my professor had us see what it would be like to actually plan a banquet. Also they always give hands on projects, like planning events around the school, which also helps with networking. Also the Rosen College puts together two job fairs a year with many of the major hospitality companies, which helps out many of the students.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It's Not the Best – I was able to get a great pell grant but that only happened once. After that it's been really difficult for me to be able to get financial aid. Most of the scholarships they have present don't apply to me.

4 College Sophomore

Parking: There are a lot of students that are on campus at the same time so parking can be limited at times. You can get pretty lucky, though, if you just drive around for a few minutes. I've never been late to a class because of it.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: The Atomostphere – We have a certain style to our school, the way everything is set up really makes it seem like your not at school, it's more like summer camp if anything.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: Computer Labs for Other Classes – Just did the homework assigned from the lecture, Nothing we couldn't do in our own time.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Policemen Always on Call – The campus itself is pretty great when it comes to safety. Unfortunately, around the campus at the nearby apartments there is some trouble from time to time but the campus police are always around. Once I even got into an accident coming home from school and the police were there very shortly after and helped me with my problem quickly. I also feel very safe with the on campus golf carts that can drive you to your dorm and the stations where you can call for help if need be.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: The University of Central Florida is constantly adapting the school to fit the needs of the student. They just incorporated a new Performing Arts Center and the Wellness Center has just been extended. Besides that, there is always services for the student and you always have somewhere to go despite the large number of students always on campus.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Risky Business – This is a tug-of-war situation. My school isnt very strict when it comes to drugs and alcohol. Many neighbors of mine have smoked weed in their dorms and snuck in beer and had a few beer pong tournaments. The RA's would do their rounds every hour but only caught people hosting illegal parties and such only a number of times. The end result was nobody ever really knew when they would get caught.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Livin' in the Highlands – Driving through Greek Row, I gawk out the window toward the beautiful Greek housing. Most of the time one will see the fraternity brothers playing football or sand volleyball in their front yards and quite frequently see the sorority sisters tanning on their beautifully manicured front lawns. Many people I've talked to come to me and say, "Are you going to join a sorority, I'm not. They're all super rich and snobbish." Thats the usual stereotype that members of the Greek life recieve. I used to believe in that stereotype until I met someone who was a brother of TKE. He and helped me realize that Greeks arent all about partying, they are more about becoming successful and working to better their community as a family. I, through experience of going to greek events with my friend, was able to experience how wrong that stereotype really was.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: Good All Day – I haven't had much experience but the little I did it wa like WOW

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Although there are many neighboring bars and clubs off campus, alot of these scenes are designed for the crowds eligible for drinking. Many of these places have a happy hour and drink specials but not really any specials for those just looking to party without alcohol. But once a month, Ucf hosts "Late Knights" which is an event providing free food, fun, games, and giveaways. The program has been a great success and continues to attract over 2,000 students at each event."Late Knights" is set for the college students who may be on a tight budget and cant always afford to venture out into the town.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: The guys are really young and they like to tell too many jokes.

5 College Junior

Campus Dining: Ok but Repetitive – In the cafeteria are the best dining options and ways to spend time with other students. The dining halls seem to be fun and enjoyable and really tasty food.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
