College Junior

Nightlife: Not Sure – I usually just attend local concerts when available.

3 College Junior

Diversity: Pretty Diverse – Campus seems to have a relatively diverse population. I have met people from a wide variety of countries on campus and regularly see student organizations for different ethnicities and religions tabling on campus.

5 College Junior

Campus Dining: Crepe Royal – The food is fresh and healthy. A great alternative to places like Burger King.

5 College Junior

Campus Housing: Definitely Live on Campus – I loved living on campus. Being right in the middle of everything makes you feel really involved and connected to the school, plus it makes getting to classes so much easier. I met some of my best friends in the dorms and loved everything about it. It forces you to meet new people as soon as you move in, which I think is great. I even loved going to the dining halls because it made meal times a social event, every time.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Campus Is Very Compact – Unlike other big universities around the country, UCF is focused and centered around one area, not spread out over a town like UF.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: Buses Are Amazing – Public transportation is extremely on-point, as many students go off-campus to have a good time and, needless to say, need a system that could safely take them back to their place. Also, they're free for students!

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Could Be Better – Whilst the school does provide ample security and safety measures, there have been way too many instances of theft, drug and alcohol abuse, and defecation of public property.
Besides those, the campus is definitely safe.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: As I mentioned before, there are many opportunities in UCF to challenge yourself physically. It has great facilities for that, like Recreation and Wellness Center. School spirit is unbeliavable, when there is a football game coming on, student involvement and fan support is at its peak; people wearing UCF shirts and other gear, it just creates a great atmoshpere.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: I would describe the facilities on campus as modern and nice-looking. The whole aesthetics of the campus are great, there are many trees and plants which contributes to it being peacefull and comforting. Recreation and Wellness Center is very good, it gives many opportunities for you to advance physically, while library provides you with the resources needed to challenge yourself mentally.

Overall Experience: I Love This Place – I greatly enjoy UCF. I can feel myself grow as a person the longer I'm here.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: The school offers quite a few events to attend on campus and they are lots of fun. These are the only things I attend, although I've heard from my roomies that the car and club scene is very awesome here too. As for transportation, the school offers shuttles to take us around the nearby area.

Campus Housing: Living on campus at UCF is more amazing than I expected. We're close to Orlando, so if there aren't any on campus events going on, there's something to do somewhere. The dorm is very spacious, even with two people living in each room, but its still very enjoyable. The cost of the dorm I'm in is the least expensive, and its pretty much worth it. The housing process was very easy, we moved my stuff in here, I said good bye, and then I got acquainted with my roomie.

Scholarships: Be Very Careful – The financial aid process is really what you make it. There is a lot of human error that occurs on both sides of the counter, so you have to do your part. If you get forms in early then mistakes are generally corrected with relative ease, and if you get them in on time then things still have a chance to go over smoothly if something needs to be fixed. But you're bad at being late, then it's going to suck. Make sure you have all your ducks in a row so that if/when things happen you can put it all on them. And APPLY APPLY APPLY for everything because you never know what you'll get. Oh, and try to keep what you get and not have to go through the appeal process.

2 College Senior

Parking: Trying to Improve – So...parking is NOT the KNIGHTmare (UCF pun) that it used to be, but it's still not cool. You have to plan ahead and if you don't have a parking decal or five bucks for the daily parking that day then you REALLY have to be an early bird. But we recently got some new parking garages to help with the congestion. Still, there is work to be done.

5 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Making It Work – There is no stereotypical UCF student as far appearance or interest or things of that nature, but one thing I believe we all have in common is that we're making it work no matter what level we're at. People are very willing to help each other out and everyone is open to letting people live out their lives the way they want to. If you are looking a place that accepts your differences and gives you opportunities to explore how live life at every level, you can definitely do that here.

1 College Freshman

Transportation: Long distance transportation does not exist. To go to Disney world a 20 minute car ride, it is a 2 hour lynx bus ride. Getting to Amtrak adds another hour and half onto your trip, 30 minutes of that walking. There are shuttles to campus from some nearby apartments. That's it.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: There are plenty of relatively cheap bars close to campus. The more fun are in downtown Orlando, just a bus ride away. Downtown is also filled with small bars and venues great for concerts.

2 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Finding off campus housing is a struggle that starts before your first semester ends. Off campus housing is either riduculously priced due to unecessary ammenities like 3 pools and a gym (which are at school paid through your tuition), already full, or far away from campus that you will have to pay a toll to go to class everyday.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The dorms here are nice. There are no communal bathrooms. Housekeeping is wonderful and cleans your dorm weekly by vacuuming, replenishing toilet paper and washing the sink. There are both cheaper traditional suite style dorms along with more expensive apartment style. Roommate matching is available. The worst part is it is a lottery process to get on campus housing.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Campus Activities – There always seems to be free activities going on sponsored by school organizations like SGA, LINK, and Late Knights. All are tons of fun and a great way to me with classmates. The gym is brand new and always fun with interactive machines. The best part of the student union is it is open 24/5.

3 College Junior

Nightlife: Goof for People Who Enjoy It. I personally do not enjoy clubs or bars very much, so I skip out on them, but the main reason I do is because of their allowance of smoking inside. There isn't a club around that you won't come home wreaking of smoke from.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Cheap, but Decent Food Off Campus. The dining close to campus is perfect for college students, for it is cheap, but doesn't slack on quality.

5 College Junior

Facilities: UCF Facilities are stellar, and create a great environment for students to learn in. The library is extensive and comfortable, there are always activities occurring on campus, and the landscaping is great.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: As an Out of State Student, I was offered a large amount of money. UCF is a public Florida university, therefore it is mostly made up of in-state students. So when you apply from out of state, chances are you will receive a nice amount of money. I maintained a high GPA and scored well on SAT's, and UCF was a fairly easy school for me to get into, so they offered even more. However the system is tricky, as an out of state friend of mine had the same GPA and higher SAT scores and didn't receive a dime of scholarship money. You will find out soon after acceptance whether or not you receive financial aid.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Even in our current state of losing streaks and scandalous behavior, UCF's fans can be counted on for their spirit. Tailgating here is crazy, there are hundreds of tents filled with young fans grilling, socializing, drinking, and having fun on Memory Mall. As the 2nd largest school in the nation, we have a strong fan base and are becoming bigger and better known in the sports world.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
