Transportation: Buses Everywhere – Pretty good, there are buses from one side of campus to the other if you are too lazy to walk. Off campus transportation is good too, you can get buses to off campus housing or to some of the clubs.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Lots of Different Races and Religions – UCF has a great variety of students because we are the second largest school in the nation.

Majors: Communication Sciences and Disorders Program – I am in the Health and Public Affairs College and I love it so far. I am a Communication Sciences and Disorders major. If you love working with children and are passionate about helping people you will love this major. The only negative thing that I have to say about this program is the guidance counselors. If you are not on top of what classes you have to take for the following semester you could possibly graduate a semester later. The guidance counselors could misguide you so it is important to know what you are doing. Other than that the teachers are wonderful and you will learn a lot.

Weather: Although Florida is the sunshine state the weather varies. Sometimes it will rain for days and other times it will be beautiful and sunny. Winter's are a joke because in the morning and night the temperature will normally be in the 30s and 40s. During the day the temperature will be in the high 60s to low 70s.

Nightlife: Nightlife at UCF is for students who are 18 and up. The school has plenty of house parties and tailgating at football games is always a good way to party and let loose. UCF provides a free bus service for students to travel from downtown back to campus so students have the opportunity to go to local bars and clubs. Most clubs in Orlando are 18 and up except for a few bars which are 21 and up. Every month UCF has an event called Late Knights which usually consists of concerts, games, and fun activities to do in a safe environment. Overall nightlife at this school is great and I guarantee that you will have a great time!!!

Weather: I love being outdoors because the sky is always so beautiful. It is especially joyful to sit by the Reflection Pond and relax while studying for an exam.

2 College Sophomore

Parking: Way Too Crowded! Students complain about not finding a parking space and missing the beginning of class. People need to arrive very far in advance just to find a spot. I suggest that the school promotes more public transportation to help reduce our carbon footprint rather than creating more parking garages.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Safe & Affordable – The off-campus housing feels like an extension of the university. I feel completely safe and I am close to everything. I don't even need a car to get around!

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: I Love the Area,. I always enjoy the area with all the shopping, concerts and other activities available.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Good Variety but Not a Lot of Open Classes – Can't find enough open classes to have a full schedule.

5 College Junior

Weather: Sunny Skys and Bright Sunshine! The bright central Florida weather is fantastic at UCF. Though some days are hot during the summer, it is not nearly as humid as at the coast.

2 College Junior

Transportation: Beware the Traffic Ninjas! I received a 40 dollar ticket for an expired license plate that I tried to fight (being my first ticket.) If I even showed up to an actual court, the fees would have been less than ten dollars. Through UCF, I paid the same price... c'mon!

3 College Junior

Computers: There are three general labs known to most students; the Student Government lab, the express Student Government lab, and the Library labs. Each one is a struggle to get access to, though there is 20 pages of free printing a day in the Student Government sponsored labs. The only computers I can find that are available in the library are in the basement, and even then there is usually only one or two open. Internet access slows during busy times, like around lunch. Overall, I give them a "B."

1 College Junior

Scholarships: I have had the most difficult time trying to get financial aid. Most of the people there do not care at all about your financial hardship. They do not answer questions very well. In addition, I received a grant of $1200 in April---after I had already taken out a loan and put myself into unnecessary debt! What is the purpose getting a grant 3 months after the start of the semester?! They're ridiculous.

1 College Junior

Nightlife: All of the good clubs are 25 minutes away in downtown Orlando

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: Convenience Is Key – Apollo dorms were pretty awesome because you can wake up 10 minutes before class and make it on time! Right next to the library, cafeteria, and administration office! I don't think Libra is that great. The social atmosphere is very fun and friendly. Moving in was pretty easy. Only complaint is that they kick you out of the dorms once fall exams are over until spring starts back up which is extremely annoying for students with no where else to go.

3 College Student

Overall Experience: So Far So Good – Scary at first but didn't take long to learn the ropes.

4 College Student

Campus Housing: Freshman Dorms – Nice people for the most part. Rooms with individual thermostats.Cabel TV,wall to wall carpeting. Plenty of room.

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: I do as many classes online as I can because of the long commute I have to make to go to school. From what I see it is very obvious that many students take part in drinking. I have not seen any of it while I have been on campus. Obviously there are students who do various drugs but it is apparent that drinking is the most popular thing to do.

College Senior

Campus Housing: Live on Campus – I do not live on campus, I live at home and commute a couple times a week.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: Food on Campus – The dining hall food is mediocre but inside the student union there is a nice choice of options. The only complaint is that food is fairly costly and it is easy to blow a lot of money when you spend a full day on campus.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Multiple Clubs – The variety of clubs at the University of Central Florida is exceptional. There are over 400 clubs that students can become a part of. The availability of joining the clubs are very simple and at orientation they show students where the office is to join clubs.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Popular Drinking – On football game days, tailgating and drinking is abundant. More than half of the students can be found holding an alcoholic drink.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Pre-Req Classes Are Helpful – I am in the undergraduate program at University of Central Florida, wanting to attend the College of Education and the pre-requisite classes that I have to take are helpful because I am required to get service learning hours which help you get out into the classrooms. The professors schedule face to face meetings and get to know you on a personal level, they are concerned with my progress.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Pretty Great Place – I have Had a great time here at UCF. I will be here for another two years and I really think that this is a wonderful place for people to attend. It is closer to home than other places and has a great teaching staff. I love the classes and think that other people who dont want to go to a very classy university should choose this school!

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
