Weather: The local weather the majority of the time is pleasant. It does not get too cold during the winter, but when it rains it is somewhat inconvenient when going to and from class.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus housing is surprisingly very convenient. The most useful system is the buses, they are constantly running and take you to and from campus and your housing.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Police and Safety Services – The University of Central Florida takes great precautions in keeping their students safe. I have always had a sense of security on campus, especially since their are always police patrolling. Also, if you have the option of being escorted to your car late at night if you do not feel safe.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Off campus housing is expensive and im not allowed enough money to afford it.

4 College Freshman

Weather: Usually hot but weather changes periodically and can be really cold.

5 College Junior

Scholarships: Great Help and Lots of Information! At the University of Central Florida, staff at the Financial Aid office are always quite helpful in answering questions, and they are pretty good about answering phone calls and assisting through that means as well.

Drug Safety: Impact of Pee Pressure – At the University of Central Florida, I would not say that drugs are running rampant on campus, but of course there are some issues with it. Peer pressure in this matter seems to be the greatest force and some students have fallen down because of it.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: Being a Commuter – It's not really campus housing, but it is quite nice being able to go home each day and not worry about noisy neighbors or annoying roommates. I like having my own space to live and study, and I don't think I would change it.

Overall Experience: I have really enjoyed my time at UCF. There are so many things to get into and nearly all of them have an aspect of helping the surrounding community.UCF has an amazing recreation center and the student union is known as the heart of the campus as it the spot to go to if you have any problems and no matter how lost you get you can always find it at the center of campus. The colleges with in it are really organized and despite being the 2nd largest university in the nation, its never seems crowded and its close enough to seem like a family. The sports are great and the students and alumni are dedicated fans. UCF offers many oppurtunities after graduation because they have connections with many businesses.

Greek Life: We have a large greek life on campus. Coming from a campus sorority, I can sincerely say that philanthropies is something we don't joke about. Greek row is nice but there are still some greeks that don't have homes that house their organizations. Sometimes this impacts how the other greeks view those organizations. Non greeks view us as paying to make friends but it is more than that. It is a wonderful networking tool and creates relationships with people you didn't think you would ever have one with. My step sister is now in my sorority and its nice to see she fell in love with the same organization. Sometimes the frat guys don't represent greeks well but you see that everywhere. Many of the guys are very nice and support the sororities.

Health & Safety: I have felt very safe on UCF's campus. I find walking by myself at night fearless, relaxing, and mostly quiet. The student union stays open really late, and would be a haven if I ever was to run into trouble. The campus police seem to have a handle on things with out being overbearding or noticable. There have been very few incidents due to the quality of students and those involved in campus safety.

Nightlife: Party at Your Leisure – Students have an array of places to go in the Orlando area. If you live on campus, you can walk or take a shuttle across the street to the three clubs that offer entertainment nightly. If you want something more nicer than that, you can car pool downtown where the nicer bars are but only if your 21 and over. Since UCF is located in one of the biggest tourist towns in the U.S there is theme parks, shopping, outdoor events, etc. Transportation is very easy to access. We have the lynx bus system, car pooling, UCF shuttles and many more. It is quite possible to see what Orlando has to offer without a car.

Diversity: The Melting Pot – UCF has fortunately opened my eyes up to a lot of races, religion, belives, etc. Every year the university has a month of cultural awareness and brings speakers, hosts events and has tables in front of the union to educate the students that the world doesn't revolve around ourselves and there are others out there. A few weeks ago UCF had Chaz Bono come and talk about his life and his experiences while transitioning from female to male. There were many people there that could relate and during the Q & A session, many thanked him for what he does.
During a given week, people set up tables and utilize the free speech areas around the campus in hopes of enlightening their fellow knights. UCF provides education not only inside the classrooms but outside on its side walks and free speech areas.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: Variety Offered but Mostly Fast Food – I've been to campus only a few times and from what I've seen UCF offers a good variety of dining options, even though most optios are fast food.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Off-Campus Classes – I will be attending most classes online, but I felt safe walking around campus during orientation.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I Like It Here – The school is great. Everyone is friendly and faculty and advisors are always willing to help.

4 College Freshman

Weather: It's Florida – Floridians are accustomed to the random weather. So there is little to no affect on our campus experience

3 College Freshman

Facilities: The Student Union – The Student union is cool. It is the heart of the campus. There are always activities going on in there and they give away alot of free stuff. There are study areas, fast food joints and much more.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Determine to Succeed – Every student that I have met and become friends with here is incredibly driven to excel academically so they can create a better life for themselves. It is a very encouraging experience which helps me to drive myself even harder, academically.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus provides students with the best possible study-friendly atmosphere. Everything including the library to the math lab and lecture halls is conveniently right at fingertips. This is very encouraging since long distance traveling or traveling at all for that matter is not an issue!

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Open Campus Policy – It is intimidating to know that UCF is open to the public 24/7. To me that means that any John Doe can come on campus with any intentions and try to carry out their plans. They could be malignant intentions intending to hurt unsuspecting freshmen or faculty for no reason at all. If some people are aimlessly wandering the campus at night and it does not look like they belong or appear mischievous, I would prefer if the UCF police would respectfully remove them from the campus.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: The University of Central Florida has plenty of activities for students outside of the classes they are taking. There is always some event going on outside of the student union. The atmosphere is always busy, and fun.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Lynx Bus System – This bus system is cheap, and a good schedule. Most of the time there are plenty of seats on the buses, but their greatest flaw has to be the issue of only being able to carry two bicycles on their bike rack. Even if there is plenty of room to bring it inside the bus.

College Junior

Facilities: I have not had the chance to live near campus so I can not have an opinion on this.

5 College Junior

Diversity: I have seen a lot of different types of people not only different races.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
