Local Atmosphere: Great ! Orlando is a great area to go to school. there are many things to do in downtown orlando such as festivals and major events. they have the Amway center which is great if you love basketball. the best thing about this area is its proximity to the beach!shopping places are some of the best and there is a great variety for people with diffrent incomes. There is a lot of places that students can have fun with little money involved such as the public parks like jay blanchard park.i love this town.

Drug Safety: Drinking Is More Popular – The drug scene at University of Central Florida is not really big. It all depends on who you hang out with. If people are doing drugs they're smoking. Drinking is a much more popular activity.

Diversity: You Will Find Everything You Look for – The University of Central Florida is a university of opportunity amongst the world. You will find students from every part of the world that share the same goal of getting an education. Not only will you see the variety, but you can experience every difference through the clubs that these individuals have developed in UCF. As one of the biggest universities in the country the diversity, challenges, and beliefs differ and are accepted as one big family.

Overall Experience: Beautiful School – UCF is a very new school. The buildings look new and are being built in an eco-friendly manner. The campus overall is gorgeous and everything is conveniently placed, so you don't have to walk far to get anywhere.

2 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Easily Accessible – UCF does have very strict rules regarding drugs and alcohol. Unfortunately, despite the rules and regulations, they are very easy to get and use.

4 College Freshman

Parking: There is never a problem with places to park. For the most part it is very convenient for everyone.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: UCF tends to be very diverse and at the same time all ethnicities are accepted and there are rarely disputes between students

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The dining services available off campus are very convenient and very inexpensive (for the most part). They are usually open 24 hours and are a perfect setting for a college environment

2 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Not Much Happening – There is nothing exciting happening at UCF. The guys are nothing special to look at. They are friendly though but not very interesting.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Cops like to bust parties and break up underage drinking. But if your stealthy you can get away with it.

4 College Junior

Campus Dining: Marketplace Can Be Crowded During Certain Hours – There are plenty of places to choose to dine at on campus. If you buy a meal plan it gets quite crowded at certain hours

4 College Junior

Computers: Very Good Except for Network Connection – The only complaint I have is the ucf site can be very slow sometimes, and I cannot connect to wireless on campus if I bring a laptop. Library computers are packed like a slave ship year round

4 College Senior

Weather: Overall, the weather in Orlando is great. During the winter months, the weather is temperate with highs of 70 and lows in the 50s. During the summer months on the other hand, it gets very very hot. The temperature rarely drops below 85 degrees regardless of the time of day and it usually rains in the afternoon. Needless to say, there are an abundance of pools in the area.

4 College Senior

Nightlife: There is a vibrant nightlife at the University of Central Florida. There are bars, clubs, movie theaters, and outlet malls all within 5 mins of the UCF campus. The majority of undergraduates go out on friday and saturday nights to local bars. There are a plethora of 18+ clubs and bars that cater to the younger crowd of students which make UCF a great area to party and have fun. For the non-drinkers, Waterford lakes is conveniently located 2 miles south of the UCF campus and has a movie theater, bowling alley, a gym, and lots of restaurants and retail stores.

5 College Senior

Facilities: Recreation and Wellness Center – I love the gym on campus. I have used it since freshman year and it is awesome. There is raquetball, basketball, tennis, free weights, machines, and much more. I go there in my free time just to hang out.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Orlando Eateries – At UCF you have the full resources of Orlando to feast on. There are tons of great spots to eat. My favorites are the little Chinese and Vietnamese cafes near mills and colonial. Worth the (5-6 mile) drive.

5 College Junior

Parking: If you need to park during prime time (like noon) it will suck, come to school early. There is a really awesome free shuttle service that goes from 7am to 9pm (maybe) to school from like 10 of the student housing complexes off campus.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Good Selection – Great selection at UCF: chinese, chick-fil-a, subway, kosher/hilal and smoothies to name a few. Of course its better to eat off campus: its cheaper!

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Orlando Fun – Orlando is much more than the attractions. You can go once to see if you want but there is a bunch of cool theatres, nightlife and such downtown on Orange Ave. Mills and Colonial are the Asian-American center of town and are packed with Thai and Chinese spots. The best advice is to get to know the locals!

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Don't Break the Law, You'll Get Arrested – The campus police are like hawks at night catching drunk drivers, don't drink and drive. UCF is a dry campus, meaning there is no liquor allowed on campus. Sorority and fraternity events usually have beer, and maybe in the dorm rooms. During food ball games people 21+ can bring beer on campus and drink during tailgaiting if you are into that. Get caught smoking weed in your dorm the police will be called, confiscate the drugs and you lose your housing and the money you paid. Drinking underage is less severe, you just get a warning.

5 College Junior

Campus Dining: Good Options for Meal Plans and Lots of Options for Fast Food – There are a lot of places on campus that you can get lunch or a snack, there is 3 Starbucks, Einstein Bagles, Chick Fil-A, and then in the Student Union there is a food court comparable to a mall. Meal plan wise, the two "dining halls" on campus are great. The staff if super nice and they serve different food everyday, there is always pizza available in addition to actual meals. In the mornings there is a ceral bar, waffles, and sometimes french toast.. plus an entire buffet of fresh fruit and a variety of fruit juices.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Great Opportunity to Join – Greek life is big at UCF they promote a lot and you always see there faces.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Go Out and Explore – Many options you can choose from Orlando has everything you would like to do.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: Alcohol and Drugs – With the unfortunate incidents of the past involving Greek societies and underage drinking, the school has taken appropriate actions to combat the minimal problems we have at UCF. This school can neither be considered a drug haven or an insane party school. If you are interested in having fun, there are many options, but nothing is out of control

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: Dining on Campus? Dining on campus is varied to a degree, however most of the go-to places are located off campus less than a mile away. The meal plan includes several interesting options, however the food and less-than-modern layout will remind you of an elementary school cafeteria.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
