4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I haven't surrounded myself around drugs and alcohol since coming to UCF. It depends on the kind of people you hang out with, though. I do see a fair amount of smoking but haven't been pressured to do so. The only time I see alcohol is at the tailgates for the football games.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The dining halls serve decent food and are very clean and look nice on the inside. Prices are reasonable as well, I feel. It is a good idea to have a meal plan your freshmen year if you are living on campus without a kitchen. There are also many places to eat on campus that aren't a part of the meal plan, and you can use your fining dollars there sometimes.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: I'm an Elementary Education major, and I have only heard good things about the program at UCF. It is the largest major in the school of education. The workload for the major has not been overbearing yet, and I feel that all of the assignments given are helping me to become a better educator in the future. I especially like that we must complete service learning hours during our first three years and an internship during our senior year because we are getting practical hands on experience in the field we will be working in.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I have always felt secure on campus. I see the emergency buttons we can push all around campus if we need help. I also know that we can get a ride from someone who works for the school if we don't want to walk back to our dorm late at night. I have never felt unsafe or like my belongings weren't secure since I've been in college.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Campus Transport – There are tons of ways to get to UCF if you don't want to drive. There is a shuttle service that picks students up at the nearby apartments and drops them off on campus. They are on time but if you miss your bus you will have to wait until the next scheduled one. There is also public transport but public transport isn't that great in Orlando.

3 College Junior

Facilities: There are many facilities available to UCF students, all that is needed is your UCF ID. The gym is top of the line with a large variety of classes being offered. Although many students take advantage of the gym it is hardly ever overcrowded.

The main library is huge with different floors having uses. The one problem would be the group study rooms. At most you can comfortable fit four people but they are on the bottom floor, has poor lighting, and poor ventilation.

There are many clubs and groups available to students and everyday around lunch time they are promoted. This is the chance to learn about UCF, as well as their clubs and groups and snag some free gear.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Non-Profit Intership – This spring I am going to join the team at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando in the graphic design department that I am very excited about. This will give me a great opportunity to develop my skills in advertising events and great for my portfolio.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I find that UCF is trying really hard to let the students know that there is other chooses that is not drug or alcohol. We have events every other Friday that shows how a student can have fun without drugs.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Waterford Lakes Central – There is everything between shopping and movie theater. I always enjoy my time while I am in Waterford Lakes.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Lots Going on – There are so many things to do. Orlando is a tourist trap so you can visit those spots but it has a great nightlife too!

4 College Junior

Scholarships: Great and Then Good – I have been helped with financial aid and satisfied with the staff's input. Financial aid appears to be harder to come by the more time that goes by. Unfortunately tuition went up.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Location and Size – Orlando is huge and teeming with connections and opportunities

5 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Full of Opportunity – The orlando area has a ton of business, recreational and diverse attractions, activities, events, shopping, and sports available.

Parking: At the main campus, parking is very strict if you forget for 10 minutes to put the payed ticket. But over at regional campuses the parking is pretty easy going. The main campus parking rates are pretty pricy but it's worth paying the whole fee than getting daily tickets.

4 Recent Alumnus

Local Atmosphere: UCF has many campuses. The main one is located in the Orlando which is a city full of attractions and turistic activities. I prefer the regional campus (where I go to)because there's no rush or crowds that you find in UCF orlando. We can still enjoy all the benefits of going to a big school like UCF but having benefits of less students around.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Sunny, but When It Rains, It Pours! Sunny Central Florida is no joke, and it does get hot walking to class sometimes, but mostly it's great! I have had to walk to class in monsoons before and got completely soaked even with an umbrella!

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe on UCF's campus, we even have our own personal UCF police force. The officers are present without being overbearing and easy to seek out for assistance if needed.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: Safety Comes First – Campus safety is a top priority at UCF. The students are always made well aware of crime going on near or on campus through campus alerts sent directly to your phone. If you are ever on campus late and would like an escort, those are made available to you.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I live in the towers, and have had a good experience, with the exception of some terribly slow and creaky elevators. I have heard great things about other options on campus, and terrible things about others. My experience has been positive though.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Mostly Good – Most of the buildings are newer and well maintained. The intramural fields are great, and the gym is pristine. Classrooms are decent, though some have older and uncomfortable desks. The dorms seem to be hit or miss. I am happy in the towers (though the elevators could use some work) but have heard bad things about some other communities. I have personally had no problems though.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Spirit Splash – One of my favorite parts of the school year is Spirit Splash. Its an annual tradition that has been around for many years. During this time we celebrate our Knight pride and all run into our huge fountain at the same time. This is the only time of the year that we are allowed to get into the fountain. Beach balls are thrown and music is played and it's just a fun and stress-free experience that will always be stay in your memories!

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I wouldn't chose to be anywhere else than UCF. The reason I love it so much, is all of the memorable experiences you can take part in as a school such as spirit splash and football/basketball games. I also love it because all of the professors really want you to succeed, and will help you do so. There are plenty of accessible places on campus to help you better your education.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: No Playing Around – The cops on campus are pretty strict. But, they try to be fair with everybody. If you are drinking underage, they will make sure you pay the consequence. But, if your of drinking age, they just want everybody to be safe. Without the strictness of cops, the big campus could be out of control and dangerous.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: Endless Waiting – Since I live in a college-affiliated apartment, I have access to a free shuttle service that transports me to school and back. However, that is the only route the shuttle takes; to school and back so if I have to go shopping, I would have to take the local bus transit which costs many and has numerous stops. In addition, if it wasn't already terrible that my shuttle had such a limited route, it also takes a long time to arrive most of the time which is surprising to me because I don't live that far away from the school and can in fact ride my bike to school faster than the shuttle can arrive with minimal effort.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: The Cost of Living – I feel that while the off-campus housing options are plentiful, the cost of rent for college-affiliated apartments like the one I currently reside in do not take into account the diminishing amount of scholarships and grants available for college students such as myself who have to deal with rising tuition costs.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
