Diversity: UCF is a very diverse campus, being one of the largest schools in the country we have students from every background, and all are welcomed and accepted no matter their race/ethnicity, economic background, political beliefs, religion, or sexual orientation! In fact it's encouraged to be different.

Majors: I Couldn't Be Happier... Well, Maybe a Little – As a Musical Theatre major, there isn't a wide amount of recognition or calmor for our department, but the faculty and staff could not be better. The acting professors bring to the table a wide array of experience and specialization in many different areas of the craft, and the music specialists have an amazing grasp on the inner workings of the voice. There are a few dance instructors, and they do a great job, but the caliber of dancers in the actual program is not high overall. However, I would highly recommend the school to those who come in with a strong background in performance, particularly voice, as the program will help get them in shape and prepared for the real world of theatre.

Campus Strictness: Don't Be an Idiot – The authorities in and around UCF aren't so concerned with busting you and getting you into huge trouble, they just want you to be smart, responsible, and not a danger to yourself or others. If you're visibily stumbling around drunk or, God forbid, you get behind the wheel of a car, you're going to get stopped. However, if you don't parade around like a fool, you can have a great time without any hassle. Bottom line: Keep it on the DL.

Facilities: Once a Knight, Always a Knight – Ucf is big on community within the school, they hold a lot of events for the students and give a lot of free stuff away. A big plus is the annual Universal Knights where Universal Theme Park is open for only UCF students and the tickets for the event are free!!

Drug Safety: If You Want It, You Can Find It – Drugs aren't the biggest deal on campus, but it's definitely around. Weed is the main export, and it's not too difficult to get, but if you go for anything harder it'll be harder to find. I'd stick to alcohol.

Athletics: UCF offers a lot of athletic opportunities whether it be IM or the actual UCF team. The athletes are nice and don't do that whole "I'm better than you 'cause I'm an athlete" attitude.

Guys & Girls: Don't Believe the Hype – There are some cool guys and girls on campus but they are rare. Most are the generic type, frat guys then girls who are OMG'ing

Drug Safety: Drinking Is Orlando's Drug – I haven't come across any drugs here but every one and their second mother drinks here. A lot of drinking a driving do be careful. Tons of bars around campus and they just started a taxi service as well

Off-Campus Housing: Becuase it's a college town living off campus is expensive as well, but not by too much. I don't like the fact that they charge you an arm and a leg just to get a decal to park on campus when you can never find spots depending on your class time. Some apartment off campus don't even give you the option to break your lease which can be frustrating if you are trying to make other plans. However a lot of the surrounding apts offer shuttle services to and from campus that is free, and most of the time it's on time

Parking: Does Every University Have This Problem? Parking is pretty bad. It can take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes looking for a spot. There are several parking garages, and most of them require a decal.

Drug Safety: Same as Any College – People dont smoke, drink or do drugs on campus. That is just unwise. But outside campus, like any other university area, there are parties, clubs and marijuana use that go around.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Very Satisfied – In the year and a half that Ive been there, Ive witnessed no fights or violent crimes. Security is there, and the students overall are very calm. UCF has its own police station watching the campus and the surrounding apartments.

Nightlife: There's a Party Every Night – If you're into the party scene and your friends are too, chances are you can find a party pretty much every night. I'm not into the partying, but I've been to a few clubs with my roommates, and there are plenty of clubs around the area, and if they're not your style you can head downtown and enjoy yourself and the area.

Health & Safety: Safety Never on My Mind – Even when it's dark out and I'm walking alone, I don't ever feel like I'm in danger. The thought of something happening is not even on my mind. There are plenty of emergency button stations and everything is lit.

Transportation: Need a Car – If you live off campus, there are certain apartment complexes that provide to campus shuttle buses. The complex I lived in provided a great system that operated every 15 minutes. Other places are not so great. The airport is pretty close and if you need to get a bus or train you would need someone to take you downtown which is a 15 minute ride. The public transport is not so great so it is almost imperative that you have a car around the UCF area.

Greek Life: Not My Thing – Greek Life at UCF is interesting to say the least. I originally thought that Greek Life would be something that I wanted to partake in when I got to campus but I definitely changed my mind. Alot of the Greeks seem to care more about appearances and partying and "who knows who" than more important things like academics and leadership. I don't think that the Greek Life is what it is supposed to be anymore. I'm sure there are some cool aspects to it, but since I have friends who are a part of that culture, I know that its not all its cracked up to be.

Academics: My experience at the University of Central Florida has been really great. From the atmosphere, to the academics to the opportunity for leadership development, UCF has allowed me numerous opportunities to partake in all. The registration process for classes is crazy, but you find that no matter school you go to! Thousands of kids all wrestling for the same spot. It's a mad rush! The workload is what you make of it. I found that it was difficult in the beginning, for me, as a freshman because I took on waayyy too many credits in my first semester. By the time my sophomore year came around I was fully prepared for the work. Studying on campus is quite beautiful because UCF has such an amazing, laid back atmosphere that makes it easy to just kick and relax with your book. The biggest drawback for me was the amount of loans I had to take out to finance my education. Being an out of state student, really put at a disadvantage financially. Hopefully as the economy gets better, more funds will pour in to support those that are not as capable of doing so themselves. All in all, my experience was great and I hope to go back to UCF for Graduate School!

Campus Strictness: The polices are very strict at UCF and are enforced.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Guys at my school come from all back grounds, for the girls as well. Both the girls and guys try to dress nice and show off for the opposite sex at UCF. My campus has very attractive people for both sex.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Not Big for Our Our School – Small drug scene for a school of almost 60,000. It will only affect you if you hang out with drug users.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greeks Are There but They Care – Greeks are everywhere on campus and in most of your classes. However, they are not overpowering and most of them are kind and caring. Greek life is aa big part of the school but doesn't rule the school.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Getting Better – Places on campus are good on average. There is a wide range of fast food places, from chicken to pizza to mexican. The dining halls are expensive but the food is good. they always have fresh coffee and cookies as well as ice cream.

3 College Freshman

Majors: Planning for the Future – Over the past year I've been working on expanding my knowledge so that I will appear to be a better candidate for internships.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
